[Highlight] Brandin Podziemski throws a bad pass to Will Richard, and Steve Kerr starts yelling at Will.
Classic Steve
Like Nana Grizol sang “We’ll try to make peace with our patriarchs, too”
Crazy pull
Never expected Nana Grizol here. Love it
love it love it
holy shit
Crazy to see a Nana Grizol reference but im actually confused how this relates
I am thinking the same thing, but I want to quote a random great folk punk lyric now. So like Pat the Bunny said “Malcolm X never lived to see the government fall, but the state he opposed made him a stamp. Maybe that’s the best you can hope for if you never give up: your enemies will teach your corpse to dance.
A punk rock song won’t ever change the world but I can tell you about a couple that changed me.
(Never thought I’d see Pat the Bunny on this sub).
What the hell
You are a real one
Kuminga’s still responsible for this
Easy on Draymond and Steph but will go off an any of his other players
He still hasn’t seen the replay yet.
Should’ve tried to injure a player or punched a rookie, then Kerr would’ve been effusive in his praise
Kerr’s biggest flaw as a coach seems to be that he shows blatant favoritism to certain players. Probably part of the reason why the Warriors haven’t been able to develop like a single damn player under him…
See kuminga…
I think there’s alot of reasons for the Kuminga split, but Kerr’s obsession with Anthony Lamb back then was pretty indefensible.
Kerr really played a dude with multiple sexual assault lawsuits
that’s okay tho, it doesn’t break the code
but Kerr’s obsession with Anthony Lamb back then was pretty indefensible.
Steph and Draymond went to bat for Lamb and forced Kerr to give him heavy minutes because Lamb knew how to move within the Warriors scheme next to Steph/Draymond.
Steph lowkey escapes criticism for his role in these coaching decisions.
I love how you state this as a quote 🤣
What do you mean? Steph/Draymond hyped up Lamb plenty that season and the beat writers said Steph went to Kerr and had the young guys benched after they went 0-6 on a road trip to start the season.
Kerr was playing lindy waters way too much last year also. Thankfully they traded him.
Steve: “he’s a piece of shit I’m glad he’s gone.”
Has anyone considered that Kuminga just isnt good ? And has a low basketball iq?
I’m completely unsuprised hes getting buckets on a bad team so what.
That bad team is better than the warriors buddy
Well Steve is obviously the reason they didn’t blossom, surely they went elsewhere and dominated, right? Wiseman must be an All-Star by now? Kerr had Jordan Poole as a key rotation player on a Championship team, he must be All-NBA since he’s been freed from Kerr.
Yeah i don’t get this narrative. Even GP2 left and like a year later came begging back.
What? GP2 was already 28 when he got his chance with the Warriors
GP2 is a lot like draymond. Only works in the warriors system. No other team is playing a 6’2 player whose best skills on offense are rolling to the rim and standing in the dunker’s spot.
How’s Ryan Rollins doing
He literally had season ending surgery and then the GM traded him away. He played 12 games total for the Warriors. Y’all are so unserious.
Not talking about Kerr specifically but if someone’s development is messed up early in their career it can mess up their potential regardless of where they end up
Poole got knocked out and sucked ever since not gonna mention wiggins?
Yeah, Wiggins had his best years with Kerr. But I think the OP was talking about young players specifically. Wiggins are mid career.
Wig has been really good in Miami.
poole thrived because any shooter next to curry does. wiseman was still fighting around in the league, his warriors days set him up for failure
Ok now explain why the Warriors went for above average to dynasty as soon as Kerr stepped in to coach.
Like wtf are we even talking about? We’re really saying one of the best coaches of his generation is trash actually because he had a bad angle to see one play and was wrong?
People really think he’s a dogshit coach who just got lucky. Like my god how was tonight not a perfect example of how he’s an incredible coach. Sure they lost but they lost by 3 fucking points to a contender with a starting lineup of Richard/Podz/Santos/Leons/Post. They should be getting blown out by 50 with that lineup
Any coach is winning with the 2 best shooters eva in they prime and freakin kd later
Poole began his NBA career on historically bad shooting. It was his insane work ethic that got him back on the team after Kerr sent him down to Santa Cruz DESPITE an amazing improvements in the week leading up to it.
That contract and punch seems to have changed JP’s commitment and priorities.
This is such a stupid narrative because look at how guys like Gui Santos, Podz, and Post have looked. All 3 are good role players who Kerr has gotten the most out of.
I mean Will Richard was the 56th pick and Steve Kerr is giving him 20 minutes a game as a rookie and the warriors gave him a 4 year deal. It’s not like he’s plotting on Richard’s downfall lol, quite the opposite.
This is just straight our lie lmfao.
If you dont wanna count Draymond, here are late picks that developed under Kerr to be serviceable and good in the Warriors uniform and completely garbage after they left/would be rotting in the G League
Certain races according to this thread.
Certain skin tones according to KD, you know, the guy who actually played for kerr
KD never said anything wrong that’s for sure. Has any coach in the nba put up with more shit than Kerr has with Draymond?
Draymond looks pretty caucasian to me.
CTE from Jordan punching him I guess
Yo maybe KD was right about him not fucking with dark skins 🤣🤣
Even named his son Nick so he could get as close to saying the n word as possible without actually saying it 🤣🤣
I didn’t believe you but sure enough that boy named Nick Kerr lmfao
Imagine him in TD Garden he’d be turning around every couple of seconds thinking Celtics fans are calling his name
pretty well known fact. Lol nothing to not believe or believe
What’s crazier is afaik is it’s literally “Nick” not “Nicolas” or something
It’s literally not https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Kerr
MJ punched the racism in him.
Like he punched racism into him, or he punched the racist within him?
into. sorry I missed the “to” because I was JORKIN it hard to Timotee Chalameme not winning best actor
I dont hate black dudes.
i have black friends i named my son…
Will Richard is more like caramel macchiato than a dark skin
He’s lightskin as it gets. Dude just wanted to get a corny joke off despite making zero sense because reddit
Na but Podz is purebred according to Kerr. Hes actually white no? So Will needs to put up with the bull sheet.
[deleted]
No shit
How white is this sub that it thinks Will Richard is dark skinned lmfao
Steve will go out of his way to defend Draymond all day, this sub really just says anything and everyone goes along with it
Next to Patty Mayonnaise he’s Wesley snipes
The same Steve Kerr who coddles Draymond?
TIL now Kerr is considered a racist by this sub 💀💀 I can’t bro
People would rather listen to the snake KD who is known to be toxic that a well respected individual in all of American sports lmfao
Dray didn’t play today so everyone will save that narrative for next game. Today, Kerr is a racist. Catch up
Typical Kerr not holding the culprit accountable and instead taking his rage out on a different player
This must surely be conducive to a healthy team locker room environment
Obviously he didn’t see it. He needs to see the replay
or playing devil’s advocate… he didn’t have the same angle as us and it looked like richard was being fancy?
That’s exactly what he said in the post game presser, but “fuck Steve Kerr he’s actually racist”
- Kevin Durant
That’s what who said?
Full tweet from Steve’s post game presser
“I was upset with him, but I kind of regret losing my composure a little bit there.”
Said he initially thought Richard was trying to get fancy with it. Also mentioned it was a bad pass from Podziemski.”
Appreciate the info. With that said, of course Steve is going to say he didn’t see it.
Sure, but also isn’t that just clearly true?
Do people actually think Steve Kerr is a mustache twirling racist who sees podz make a bad pass and thinks he can get away with being mean to the brown kid? There are hundreds of hundreds of cameras that’re gonna plaster his reaction and the play on big ass TVs to millions of viewers. How evil and stupid are we thinking Kerr is here, exactly?
Ofc you saw it from a good camera angle lmfaoooo
Thread full of the usual dorks. G-league warriors making it competitive vs Knicks, Nuggets, OKC - but yeah sure he’s a random shitter coach who any /r/nba neckbeard could outcoach lol
I wonder what dirt Podz has on Kerr to have a leash so long
Because he’s not that bad of a player despite what this sub thinks of him. Completely average role player.
With a superstar leash. That’s a problem
Did you watch the game? Who were they gonna pull him out for? Gary Payton XVI?
Ia that podz is an average player and not really that bad but the other guy is not just talking about this game
Who else is there to be a ballhandler?
Because they have no superstar to play wdym?
And also, stats wise he contributes to winning a lot despite what bumasses who only played ball via 2K say.
Average role player who is forced to take on a larger role which I don’t think he’s ready nor capable of. Hes a great bench player tho
the paradox r/nba hates: some nights he plays well but you cant really explain what he does by looking at the box score, then he’ll have good stats but piss off fans who actual watched the game
Minus the “some” part, that can be said about a lot of players though. Hell, it’s basically the main reason for all the Luka arguments.
Every single time someone mentions his defense in a game they watched, somebody else shows up with “he grabbed 10 defensive rebounds and 4 steals” without talking about how his teammates did all the boxing out for him or how he was in a convenient position to grab a loose ball
Even if that is the case in some of the plays, it isn’t in a majority of them. The NBA website has footage of individual plays for every game so you can go back and check
If teammates did all the boxing out for him, why arent they doing it for others lmao. Yall acting like he is telling them im stat padding. Jeezus.
Luka puts more effort into standing at the rim for the rebound than he does anything else besides shooting. Even Reggie said in the middle of a game “it’s okay to move your feet Luka” when he put no effort into defending his man taking a layup but instead turned around waiting to grab the board if it was a miss (it wasn’t). Everyone else is defending their man or playing help defense on Luka’s man
Need a recent example? Go back and watch the play where Bron dove for the loose ball. He, Rui, and Luka were the only Lakers in position to grab it. Luka was the only one who didn’t hustle whatsoever for that ball once it passed him. Slowly turned around, took literally 1 slow step, then watched other hustle.
In that amount of time, Bron turned around and dove. Rui turned around, started to sprint then slowed to a jog when he saw Bron had it
They’re not boxing out for others because they’re the ones doing the boxing out
Thing is Kerr has given Podz so much runway for mistakes and development, yet Kuminga had none because, as per him, they were contending.
and because kuminga obviously did not do the things that steve kerr likes for the warriors system. what are podz probably biggest strengths? he is a solid defender, amazing rebounder, and he is good at moving without the ball
name literally one thing that kuminga did in all his time as a warrior that seems similar to that at all. literally all kuminga did was try to score on iso plays. yes, kuminga was good at that, but that is not what the warriors do, or have ever done with steve kerr as the coach
people here are literally so willfully ignorant
Because Kuminga doesnt listen and Podz do? Because stats wise Podz contribute to winning? And lastly, because of the logjam in thr position?
Right but he gets the leash of a star. That’s what confuses people.
It makes sense for a guy like Curry or even Dray to get long leashes, but a guy like Podz? Why?
Because 1 he contributes to winning. Thats in many stats. Consistently in the top best 3/4/5 lineups of the Warriors since his rookie years.
2 is that he does what he needs to do to win. He doesnt pout like JK. He listens to the coach and does what they need. Kerr values system players
3 is that he is atleast average to GOOD in all aspects of basketball. He’s basically a jack of all trades, swiss army knife for the team. He doesnt have any blatant weakness. He rebounds really well. Defends well. Shoots slightly above average. Can create decently on the dribble (atleast compared to others in the roster). Can handle the ball. Can pass. Can read.
4 is that the Warriors dont have great guard depth
In a league the way it is with length and height being king, a player like him has to be a savant on offense because his defense doesn’t bring shit despite his effort. He could try hard all he wants, at the end of the day, he’s unathletic, short, short wingspan and an inexperience below average defensive BBIQ. He’s not good at defense and he gambles for charges which allow wide open 3s where instead he should have stayed on the perimeter so now he’s getting scored on by a big or misses the rotation to the wide open 3. This is also a double edged blade in the bad sense because him trying to take charges negates Warriors bigs from contesting shots at the rim.
The problem with his offense is, he needs to be a point guard so you can make room for a defensive guard side kick. First off, this would never happen next to Steph, so already it’s a bad pairing because both are incapable of playing elite defense. Secondly, the guy can’t make plays on offense, and resorts to more iso play than anything. If Draymond, Butler or Steph aren’t hand holding him he can’t run an offense. The vets essentially run the offense even when the ball is in Podz hands. Warriors are currently running the offense more thru Gui now because he’s obviously much more talented at setting plays up compared to Podz. When The vets are off the court, the best play making he can do is drive and kick, which often leads to TOVs anyways or bad mid-range shots because he sucks at actually getting to the rim.
An average role player now a days is someone like Payton Prichard. Would you take Podz over Prichard? I sure as hell wouldn’t. Podz is below average no matter how you slice it. Role players excel at least at a single job. Podz is just below average everywhere except running in to take charges I guess, which is often a hindrance to their defense instead of a boon.
There’s nothing wrong with throwing a pass like that in transition and it not working out. That happens all the time in transition play.
It’s a meme sub so I know we’re just looking for a scapegoat but as someone who actually watches Warriors games, Podz has been yelled at plenty. And not every Kerr moment happens immediately following the mess-up. Coulda been poor transition defense from a possession earlier or a missed back cut. Not everything is a teachable moment, and missing a pass definitely isn’t one, like you said. Podz knows what he did wrong.
/r/nba translation: looks like the white Ohtani gets another pass from codebreaker Kerr lolz
He’s actually been playing decent lately
Wouldn’t be surprised if Kerr sits in the corner and watches
to connect with his star player
I mean yeah it was a bad pass, but blindly throwing it behind you is dumb.
Well you either lose the ball out of bounds or throw it behind you in hopes it lands in the hands of your team, it almost did but since it was Podz it got fumbled
Dead ball turnovers are better than live ones. What Richard did there was incredibly risky and probably what Kerr was livid about.
Throwing it back blindly has such a low chance of working out in your favor though. Its much more likely to be a direct turnover that leads to a 5 on 4 since Will would be stuck in the stands for a few seconds.
And even when it wasn’t a direct turnover, going out of bounds let the knicks inbound quickly and still get the 5 or 4 for an easy 3. By contrast, if Will had just taken the ball out of bounds, the knicks inbound wouldn’t happen until he handed the ball back, so could have delayed it until he was nearly back in the court to prevent the 5 on 4
You’re supposed to catch it like a wide receiver 2 feet inbounds falling while calling a timeout
Throwing it behind you blindly also gives it a big chance to lead to an easy bucket for the other team. Sometimes eating the turnover is better.
Omfg. This is so braindead.
If the opponent catches that, they have now a 4 on 5 fast break.
By letting it go out of bounds, you can set up your defense.
Cmon now.
It worked though, Pod just fumbled it immediately again
It worked out of sheer blind luck, he had no clue where Podz was
i dont think you understand the court awareness at this level, most players generally know where their guys are. he wouldnt know exactly, but wouldve figured he would be in the direction he threw it
People don’t actually understand basketball. The first 7 comments don’t even mention this.
The number of y’all in here that would rather risk a blind pass to no one instead of turning it over an setting up on D baffles me
Such a fundamental concept too lol its crazy what’s going on in this thread.
Podz is the reason this fast break failed, obviously, but his mistake was a physical mistake while Richard’s was a mental mistake.
A good coach criticizes the mental mistakes. Idk when everyone started getting a hate boner for Kerr.
I need a better angle, but looks like the reason the pass from Richard didnt work was because of a lack of follow-up/hustle from the trailing warriors.
It looks like Podz slowed up initially after he made the pass, and only sped back up after seeing it was headed out of bounds. If he kept up the hustle the whole way, I think he is in easy position to get the ball from Richard.
Seems like a mental and physical mistake on his part.
Half of this sub only knows ball thru 2K. 40% are basically bumass players so that figures.
Are you criticizing the action in which he chose to try to save the ball or are you criticizing the result? Because the ball seems like it went out of bounds and they could set up the defense
Will is a rookie so he’s gonna remember being told about this mistake. It’s better to go out of bounds than to do a blind pass that could be a big swing.
That could be a big swing - which the Knicks actually converted to a three pointer from the turnover, but the smooth brains in here are happy to blindly rail on Kerr.
He benched Will immediately after this. Should’ve benched Podz if he’s going to play that game. Pass was terrible.
Kerr starting to look like Phil Jackson at the end of his coaching career.
Why would he bench their best player in the game? Lol.
What was the point of throwing behind his back
my guy his momentum was clearly taking him out of bounds
Reggie is explaining on commentary that it’s better for him to hold onto it and go out of bounds because that’s not a live ball turnover that put his team at a disadvantage.
Can you ELI5 why a live ball turnover is different from a turnover?
Dead ball turnover: ball goes out of bounds and opponent must inbound the ball. While that’s happening you have a chance to get back on defense and prepare for the opponents possession. An example of a live ball turnover is a steal or an errant pass that gives the opponent a fast break opportunity.
Blindly throwing the ball behind you and hoping your teammate comes up with it is a stupid play and a great way to give up points. In this instance Reggie Miller is explaining it incorrectly because the ball went off a warriors player’s leg out of bounds, causing the ball to be dead.
THAT’S what was confusing me because I saw the ball go out of bounds.
Thank you for explaining that and where Reggie was off. Now it makes sense.
A live ball turnover equals a fast break opportunity for the opponent.
A dead ball turnover means no fast break opportunity because the ball went out of bounds.
live ball turnover there gives knicks a 4v5 fast break opportunity. if he goes out of bounds, defense has time to set up.
Even if the outcome is the same, Kerr is instructing them on process so Will doesnt make that mistake in the future.
then he should have let it go out of bounds instead of potentially giving the knicks a 5 on 4 opportunity
I think he definitely could’ve turned around and made a better pass too lol
Oh shit really, you should be a coach. Heres a tip, perhaps he should carry that momentum with him out of bounds instead of exactly what he did. Also perhaps check into what happened right after the turnover
or perhaps if podz wasn’t so fucking buns he would have caught it and gotten an easy layup. or perhaps he could have made a normal fucking pass. either way kerr shouldn’t have been mad at will.
should literally just run out of bounds
thats exactly why Kerr was yelling at him. but its Kerr + Podz against a rookie here so you know who this sub is gonna get mad at
To avoid being a bigot
The comments here are proof that the majority of this sub doesnt know ball
This is the most braindead comment section I’ve seen in a hot minute.
We don’t even know if Kerr was “yelling” about this play. I wouldn’t even call it yelling.
“The ball is everything!” -Steve Kerr
https://www.nba.com/warriors/videos/postgame-warriors-talk-steve-kerr-03-15-2026
Kerr said he was mad because he thought Will could’ve “corralled it, make a jump stop”.
Haha - dude even miraculously saved the bad pass back to Podz and Podz fumbled it out of bounds
Steve always barking at the wrong tree
This is some dumb shit. Not only was Podz pass off target. Richard chases it down and saves/passes it directly to Podz who fumbles it
Steve’s getting old LMFAO
Be faster lol
Funny that Richard’s pass was more accurate than Podz’s.
At this point Podzy has something on Kerr
This clip doesn’t show enough. Steve Kerr was LIVID. You deadass would’ve thought it was game winning possession the way he was yelling.
Kerr is the most overrated coach in the NBA. He is held to the standard of Phil Jackson and Pop. He is one of the most stubborn coaches. If he doesn’t like you, you are sent to the dog houses. Doesn’t matter about talent
He sees like a quite a toxic coach to play for.
Kerr just insufferable to the casual fan at this point.
Imagine Kerr treating Kuminga the same way as he do Podz.
“Run faster, Richards!”
Will Richard will be dropping 25 for the Hawks in two years. You heard it here first.
It’s crazy going from yelling to sitting down like nothing ever happened lmfao
Definitely bad pass and Richard shouldn’t have been chewed out for it but I think he was angry cause he was running to the corner rather than the rim? If he ran to the rim the pass may have come off ok.
Regardless not a good look.
Quite the assumption. He’s talking in a general direction. How do you know he’s talking to Will?
He admitted it himself postgame saying he regretted yelling at him.
Gotcha.
Well he named his son “Nick”. You tell me who he’s going to blame?
Richard Jefferson the dame kinda restarted
Perfect example of why the fanbase is tired of both of those dudes
This what we’re doing now?
To be fair Richard threw a bad pass back /s
He was probably upset because the coaching staff told them to get to the hoop and Will took too wide of an angle
Steve Kerr sucks
He and Doc Rivers…. Both somehow end up in the hall of fame thanks to being associated with really good franchises and almost no coaching talent
How dare he try to save the ball from going out of bounds
One’s the golden child and the other’s the scapegoat.
NBA huh? Solid.
Get Reggie Miller tf off the air. He’s such ass kisser. No analytical approach at all anymore. That pass was gonna lead in a turnover no matter what, that was on Podz
Yeah but the point I think is that if he throws it to the opponent it’s an instant 5v4 situation whereas if you go out of bounds it’s not
Bro what? The ball went out of bounds anyways 🤣 wth are you talking about? Kerr was besides himself for no reason. That’s why the players looked at him that way
A deadball turnover is different from a literal 4v5. Istg people here have never played ball lmfaoooo.
Yall are funny lol
Obviously the execution of the pass was poor. But coaches control the process more than execution and in this case it was Richard’s process that was wrong. This is just an opportunity for Kerr haters to vent.
Podz the tank commander. With a 1 point deficit, he shot a contested three with 21 secs left on the shot clock and 24 secs on the game clock, bricked it of course.
Now, the blame will be on QP after that horrendous inbound play by Kerr. Smh
Im so glad the Curry blinders have come off fans these last couple years.
People were saying Kerr was one of the greatest headcoaches of all time, and while hes no bum, he genuinely made his name by just having two of the best shooters of all time and telling them “yeah just shoot” and while that was revolutionary, it wasnt really his coaching that made them that great. He isnt good at rotations, at calling plays, at matchups, cant develop players, cant hold his stars accountable, cant get control of his locker room.
Without Curry this man has struggled, somewhere around 83-128. Now yes the team is built around curry, but hes had Klay, KD, Iggy, Poole when he was good, green, butler. I think well really see him tested once Steph retires.
he’s retiring when Steph does lol
Kerr is one of thr most overrsted coaches ever
Been saying it for a while. I’m convinced Podz gives Kerr the reach around after every game. This is insane lmao.
This why doc rivers is the GOAT coach
woah buddy
