I’m mad cause this is just blatant tanking. I don’t care what numbers he put up against the Warriors practice squad, especially when the Warriors are all but guaranteed to be the 9th seed pretty much regardless of what happens from here on out. Experimenting with lineups and allowing players to develop is very different from scratching young healthy players who, on a team interested in building for a chip in the future, should be getting minutes to develop so they can either be core players or be moved for assets.

The Jazz aren’t tanking for chips. They’re tanking so they can land a box office star to put people in seats. Tanking gets you exciting players. Developing young guys, hiring good coaches, and building a competent culture through consistency and discipline gets you chips.

It doesn’t matter what team I support, the shit the Jazz have done this year is the antithesis of how you should run a competitive organization. They knew Walker Kessler had a shoulder issue last year, and could have got him the surgery they knew he needed at the end of last year, but they trotted him out to a great start for the season before shutting him down to ensure he would miss the entire rest of the year. That was the first thing I noticed, before all the other beyond egregious tanking maneuvers they’ve been pulling off. It’s an embarrassment to the competitive integrity of the sport as a whole.

No what happens is that drafts aren’t created equal in terms of the top talent coming in some or ok to bad and in those seasons less teams tank if they can help it. Teams tried tanking for Wemby sure but not as many since there weren’t multiple amazing prospects just good ones at best after Wemby.
