There are so many deserving players this year, that the guys who just miss out would be an all defensive team of their own in other years. Might need to expand it to 3 teams like the All-NBA is.
I’d be in favor of that but I frankly miss when all defense wasnt positionless. Big guys just have a major advantage when considering impact on that end. The only non big first team lock this year is your boy Scottie for example.
Hopefully he is, but Lowe didn’t have him on his tenative first team(he doesn’t have a ballot). I think Derek White will be on the first team as a guard though. I heard somewhere that White and Wemby have the same on-off defensive numbers for their respective teams, which is wild.
Zach didn’t even have Castle all defense this year which is nuts. I think Vic, Chet, Rudy and Scottie are locks. Hoping Steph gets it but DWhite obviously would be a worthy selection.

No positions this year so the first team is gonna have at least 3 centers, Wemby Chet And Gobert.
He’s essentially fighting Cade, barnes, OG, Ausar, Derrick White etc. for 2 spots.
I think he for sure makes 2nd team though.
I hate that they made it positionless, we already have DPOY if we just want to rank defenders overall, but the truth is we are completly fair and do it positionless, it should basically be 4 bigs (Wemby, Chet, Rudy + of Mobley or Bam) + Barnes (who is almost a big himself with Poeltl being so injured)

Scottie at the 5 has insane #s, its a small sample since they only deploy it when needed.
I’m not sure who you’d classify as the 5 when he plays with Murray-Boyles, but man that combo defensively is insane, it’s like having 2 mini Draymond out there
CMB is the 5 in those lineups. He has also been sorely missed since being shut down again to try and deal with his left thumb sprain.
They had Scottie at the 5 last night to close the game and it worked well vs a small roster.
Yeah, but in any lineup with Scottie and CMB, CMB is the 5. CMB has been in and out if the lineup all season with a thumb sprain, but has missed our last 7 games due to it.
With CMB on the floor, it opens Scottie to guard on the perimeter more, as otherwise we have so few 4⁄5’s that Scottie on the perimeter just means we get blasted inside.
Wemby Chet Rudy Barnes are locks. Castle has some sort of argument against Bam and Mobley, but si agree they probably both finish over him.
