I’m a lifelong Bullets/Wizards fan. The only people that I’ve ever heard hate on the team have been my fellow fans of the team.

During the brief era of peak John Wall/Bradley Beal, I felt like games (and playoff series) against the Raptors were pretty heated. But at this point I assume everyone feels pity toward us or forgets we exist until a Bam type moment. 

In my mind, the Trailblazers would be the least hated. I see a lot of people root for them as a small market team, they’re pretty competitive and they have a cool logo. The Wizards are more pitiable than hate-able.

The Wizards are steadily moved toward the Golden Anniversary of their last fifty win season. Only three more seasons to go.

They cannot and will not be stopped in their pursuit of this lofty achievement.

LeBron fans might hate the wizards? Like he personally still hasn’t gotten over the “overrated” comment by DeShawn Stevenson. Everytime he pays the wizards he fucks em up.

I hate the wizards because they suck. They are hurting the league by tanking and not trying for the last 4 years. I might be a weirdo but I like good teams that try and hate bad teams that don’t.

I don’t hate them, but I do have some disdain for them, simply for the fact that their ownership doesn’t seem to care about ever being competitive. I’m pretty sure there was a clip from the John Oliver episode on sports gambling where the Wizards owner essentially said that he was pro gambling because his franchise would passively make loads of money even he didn’t try to field a good team. Made me pretty mad.

More forgotten they exist than not being hated. Small market team that hasn’t done anything on or off the court to garner any form of hatred.

Really hope the franchise changes direction. Unfortunately it’s really rough for small market teams. You’re kinda stuck tanking until you hit gold. Then when you do you probably need a whole new coach and development philosophy to get on a winning track. I personally hate tanking teams but I’m also not gonna pretend small market teams have better options. If you ain’t got no haters you ain’t popping.

The Wiz are just pitiable. Even in taking talks, everyone’s clowning the Jazz and giving the Wizards a free pass because at least the Jazz have a little bit of historical pride that they should be ashamed of tarnishing. Washington has been trash since the dawn of time and pretty much everyone agrees that them egregiously throwing games is the very least they can do for their fans. I’d say give them a #1 pick, but I’d hate for a promising young player to end up there.

They should go back to being the Bullets. They have sullied the good name of wizards everywhere. Wizards should be formidable masters of the arcane arts, not a collection of old, injured noblemen and apprentice squires. For this, I shall never forgive them and forever curse their name.

They are forever stuck in the middle of the NBA, which is no mans land. You either need to be really good or really bad (to get a high lottery pick to become really good) for anyone to care about you. This is the root cause of the tanking strategy.

Moved to DC from NYC area 8 years ago and I confidently know more Knicks fans who live here than the number of folks I’ve conversated with who claimed Wizards fandom!

They beat the Bulls in the playoffs twice since 2000 but I think the Bulls are too busy hating on their own team as well to care about the Wizards 

As a TrailBlazer fan - we don’t get much heat either. Mostly because our franchise has only be marginally relevant - but people mostly seem to be cool with us.

First team I can think of of being hated even though the franchise has never won is the Clippers.

Probably the Hornets or the Kings I would think.

When the Pistons were on the rise last year, it was always positive - everyone was like “man the NBA is so much better when the pistons are good”. Now, as we sit at the top of the east, the shit talkers come out of the woodworks in every thread.

Haters come following success. When people start hating on the wizards, you know you’ve made it.

Growing up as a Cavs fan in the early 2000s, I hated them. It felt like we played them every year in the playoffs. Now I don’t think about them at all.

I hate them. Not in any kinda rival/competitive way, I hate the idea the NBA has allowed a franchise to fall to the point of becoming a real life Washington Generals. Team should’ve been sold and moved by now.

Along the same lines maybe the Hornets.

But a team that has been successful that’s the least hated - is it the Spurs? Maybe we’re too far removed from the 5 championships, but I feel like most of the conversation around those teams is totally respectful.

Approval ratings for Pop, Duncan, and the rest of the crew seem to be near 100%, and the current team is fun and exciting but hasn’t won anything to bring the strong hate their way.

Outside of the capitals because of ovi… all DC teams are irrelevant. Some of them might make the playoffs every couple years but never consistent or good enough to be taken seriously. Until Jayden Daniels arrived… the football team would be in a playoff race and through news coverage you would never know it!

But Ted Leonsis the owner of the wizards/capitals does NOT get enough credit for being one of the most useless owners in sports. His only claim to sports is being lucky enough to draft OVI… which eventually got the capitals that Stanley Cup! Since 1979 the Wizards have exactly one division title and won FIVE 1st rd playoff series THAT’S IT! Yet upon Virginia rightfully telling him to get lost, he somehow swindled the DC government into paying over half a billion dollars for his renovations/upgrades.

But as the Wizards told us last year.. were building something here… problem is they are always building something and will continue to do so until ownership changes!

Fans that are into hating are only going to hate teams that are relevant or have players they deem worth hating. Wizards aren’t good enough to get angry fans to hate them.

If they become good, people will start hating them.

the most hated franchise was the lakers (-0.38), celtics (-0.35), 76ers (-0.32), suns (-0.32), and thunder (-0.27).

the wizards had a rating of -0.10, making them the 13th most hated team, or the 18th most liked team.

Nah, Celtics. Everyone around me loves the Celtics and can’t stop saying enough happy positive things about them. Especially how kind and welcoming their fans are. Everyone feels like it’s a home game at TD Garden.
