[Russo] Kawhi Leonard has the longest streak of 20-point games by a player aged 30 or older in NBA history. Leonard has done it for 44 straight games. The previous record was held by John Havlicek (40 games).
He is surgical. He is the example of a low volatile/variance scorer. Everytime you check his box score, even if it feels like he hasn’t been scoring you’ll see 20+ points
Surprised Lebron doesnt have that record. That man’s been 30+ years old since 2015
My first thought as well
He had over 10 games under 20 in almost every season in his 30s. so, probably never really close to the record.
You’d be surprised how little, comparatively, LeBron has achieved since turning 30. Apart from obligatory All Stars every season and some 2nd and 3rd team All NBA selections he has: 2 x championships 2 x Finals MVP 5 x 1st Team All NBA 1 x Assists title He has also led the league in a major statistical category (raw or advanced) four times in that period. This is important because it usually signifies that the player is the best in the entire NBA at that particular skill (or overall skill when talking advanced analytics), so very well worth noting. He also did not make a single All Defensive team in that time, whether 1st or 2nd team.
Now obviously that is a HOF career in itself but I emphasised comparatively for a reason. Jordan, after turning 30 achieved the following: 4 x championships 4 x Finals MVP 2 x MVPs 4 x 1st Team All NBA 4 x 1st Team All Defense 4 x scoring titles 1 x steals title He led the league in a box score or advanced metric 29 times in that period. But the kicker for MJ is that he did that in just seven seasons, being retired for four seasons inbetween all of it. LeBron is in his 12th season after turning 30.
To summarise: LeBron - 10 x major accolades 4 x statistical leader
Jordan - 23 x major accolades 29 x statistical leader
The voter fatigue on LeBron was getting bad before he hit 30, let alone after
Lol “if you take away all of his All Star Selections and his 2nd and 3rd team All NBA selections” cherry pick harder please
He yada yada yada-d LeBron making 10 All NBA teams after turning 30 haha
Okay so if you just take away the most impressive things since turning 30, he hasn’t accomplished that much lol
He’s elite. Not as flashy as most nba stars fans love, but he is very good.
His bag is still crazy deep and the way he moves, it really does look like he’s a cyborg executing a program sometimes
30 is still pretty much prime, suprised Harden or any other phenomenal scorer hasnt broken it
Harden, even in the regular season would fluctuate between 10 and 50 points. Never knew what you’d get.
Didn’t someone on here do the math showing Harden had better games in cities known to have good strip clubs?
Yeah sort by top all time. It’s like the 3rd one down
Harden only had one season as a high scorer in his 30s. And in 2020 he did have a 34 game streak i wouldnt call that volatile. The next year is when he went to the Nets and started trying to be a number 2.
Like the season before Harden had a 57 game streak at 29yo
It’s always injuries taking out players in middle of the game.
That’s why ironman Kawhi has this record
Yeah I woulda figured KD, Harden, Curry or LeBron would have had a longer streak
The more threes you take, the higher variance your scoring will be, so you’d expect this sort of streak to belong to someone who shoots relatively more twos
Had a bad game tonight but still put up 28
Hondo is still underrated.
Kawhi “SGA” Leonard
Kawhi balls out in a year when the clips are retooling. The irony lol
Kawhi balls out every time he’s on the court. The trick is he has to be on the court.
Big if true
