Wade said Mobley should study Chris Bosh, praising Bosh as a truly exceptional player.
He’s exactly right
Cavs would be scary if Mobley can somehow model his game after Bosh.
If he’s 80% the offensive player bosh is while being a better defender than bosh was, absolute insane player he could be my god.
I even think if he was 75% the offensive player Bosh was he would unquestionably be an absolute insane player he could be my lord
Lets call a spade a spade and say 74%
Have we abandoned any sense of precision in this world?
73.86%
Studies have shown that evan mobles could be an insane player at 73.861% (95% CI 73.860, 73.862) of what chris bosh was on offense
If bosh stayed in Toronto he could have dropped 30ppg on last place raptors teams but he gave that up to go to the heat. Dudes a way better offensive player than he got to showcase for the majority of his prime.
Bosh shot 45% on long 2s. Evan Mobley shoots 32% on long 2s. No point in “studying” Chris Bosh if you don’t have a J like Chris Bosh.
Yea its a terrible comparison and just lazy but thats what these studio shows end up being most of the time. Mobley doesnt have anywhere close to the shooting that bosh has and bosh doesnt have anywhere close to the defense mobley has. But yes, they both should be third options on actual contenders.
Bosh developed that J in Miami though. He was predominantly a low post player in Toronto. There is no reason that Mobley can’t continue to develoo his shot. I think Wades point is also to play like Bosh, not suggesting his has the same level of talent.
Bosh was an excellent high post shooter in Toronto, that was his bread and butter, he’s always had a J. What Bosh developed in Miami was an average respectable 3 point shot though.
Incorrect. After his rookie year, Bosh never shot below 40% from long 2s. His percentages from his sophomore year in Toronto until he left: 40.4%, 49.3%, 44.4%, 41.5%, 48.5%, 46.3%. Meanwhile, only once has Mobley ever shot better than 40% on long 2s. Mobley just doesn’t have anywhere near the same level of offensive skill Bosh had.
I am nogmt arguing with you and based my comment on the eye test at the time but Id assume his volume was very low during that Toronto stretch. His game changed considerably when he played in Miami.
You would be wrong again – he had plenty of volume on those shots in Toronto, although it was a bit higher in Miami most seasons. You realize all these stats are publicly available, right? Just look ‘em up! Chris Bosh Stats, Height, Weight, Position, Draft Status and more | Basketball-Reference.com
The nba is weird to me. Have you seen Sochan shoot a basketball? How does some live and breathe basketball for more than a decade and look like he’s never shot a basketball?
How does someone draft him, play him, and even give him a starting role on an NBA team?
I totally agree that Taylor Rooks is hot.
The fact this is the top comment says pretty much everything you need to know about this sub.
No discussion about basketball at all, just “wow pretty lady” in a 43 second clip that she is on screen for 4 seconds of.
Acknowledge greatness.
I’m acknowledging goonness against my will
There is no meaningful discussion about basketball in the video anyway
She so fine. Bruh what were they even talking about
Amazing
Bosh was much superior shooter than Mobley thats the difference u dont just become a great shooter out of no where
He wasn’t that good early on. He worked really hard on it. Mobley can do it too
Do you really think a big drafted in 2003 was a natural shooter? He worked on it to evolve with the game nephew.
I remember his rookie year, the elbow jumpers and 19 footers were there already. By year 2 and 3 it was his bread and butter.
Bosh could shoot for a 2003 big when he was drafted, he was not a modern (2pt) shooter until a couple years in. You are getting influenced by his peers being generally bad and him being average by modern standards.
Fully agree.
Chris Bosh was an all-star at 21. He averaged 22+ pts per game for 5 years before moving to Miami, with consistently more than 40% from 16ft-3, and he did all of that without anyone near the calibre of Mitchell and now Harden to set him up, often operating out of iso in the high post.
No hate on Mobley but he’s going to have a hard time figuring it out as well as Bosh did.
He could study all he wants lmao we’re talking about Chris Bosh
Bosh would be among the best PFs in the history of the NBA if he didnt have blood clots.
Our post-Heatles team was tailor made for him.
‘16-‘17: I really think we beat the Raptors with Bosh. Could’ve gotten a Heat/Cavs ECF.
‘17-‘18: He didn’t play at all. Would’ve been a great pairing with Whiteside’s insane record year.
I know bro. I know. 😔
Whiteside and Bosh would have been A PROBLEM.
At least he got to have his whole prime before then
Dean Wade is right.
That’s not a bad comparison but Mobley needs to learn to shoot before he’s anywhere close to Bosh on offense
I’ll be honest I haven’t watched Mobley a ton, but I scanned his nba.com splits for two minutes.
I think Mobley is a bit lankier and less coordinated than Bosh, he would need serious work on his jump shot to get there and I’m not sure it would pan out over time. Not saying it’s impossible, but it would need to be a conscious decision from him to put in Steph Curry level work on his jumper.
Alternatively he could do a lot with his footwork and post moves, maybe start by studying IHarts push shot and also some step through scoop under layups with his length… get more comfortable with angles. A good post bump fade could go a long way, work on the short range jumpers with contact. Locking in his elbow jumper would go a long way as well and should be doable, and also open up deeper parts of the floor.
He’s super talented and top tier defensively, I’d love to see him take it to the next level. I think working on spots is key right now, if he can be elite at certain spots and shots it will open up other shots for him, which he can build into his bag.
The most overqualified 3rd option of all time
James Harden?
Ray, klay, harden, worthy, k.love just off the top of the head. Whatever Brooklyn net u wanna name haha. All in the same class or better. Probably missing a few as well. Its an interesting discussion for sure and will turn out very subjective
Wilt third option to Baylor and West is clear top third option ever. Him and Baylor just didn’t work together
Great call. Im not hip to big 3s pre 1980s so thanks for the context
Thats a great comparison tbh
Yeah sure id also like to study Shaq.
Bosh has the touch
Shame he had to retire early I miss all the raptor memes.
Definitely, Bosh was an amazing HOLY SHIT TAYLOR
Big Cavs fan here. Mobley is a good player. I don’t think he will ever be a Bosh level player on offense. That’s ok. I love him for his defense and occasional nice offensive game. That’s good enough for me idk
It’s so weird seeing actual basketball coverage in the middle of national games.
Best thing about Miami Bosh is that there is a non-zero chance he could have been the best player on a finals team other than Miami. He gets praised for sacrificing stats like that’s all it takes, but you still have to be out there doing all the things the roll players did for you when you were the star. He’s a star that at the peak of his powers, showed that he could do everything to win.
Amazing comparison! So much better than listening to inside nba crew talk shit all day about players who aren’t doing as well.
