It’s crazy and sad to me that he has to defend himself after accomplishing such an amazing milestone. 83 points in an NBA game is insanely impressive no matter how he got it. Let the dude be happy.

He earned those 70 points. Sure after it was a shitshow, but even that was Wizards’ own doing. They were hacking other Heat players and tripling him to stop him scoring any more. I wish he would have gone for some more on that embarrassment of defense, and dropped like 90.

This is professional sports, not pewee ball. Anybody talking about sportsmanship is a fuckin chump. Having respect for the game is playing it to your full potential as long as you’re able. There is 0 disrespect in running up a score in professional sports. If you don’t like a guy scoring 80+ points on you, stop him. Just like any other sport. You don’t like a running back putting 200 yds up on you in a game? Stop him. You don’t like a UFC fighter rag dolling you via wrestling, don’t let him. If you can’t stop him, then you know you need to get better.

As a Kobe fan, it’s tough watching people slander Bam over this. I was actually rooting for Bam to break the record and it’s genuinely impressive considering he’s never been a volume scorer. And he did it without OT, too.

If it’s too easy, then how come the most prolific scorers in today’s game and the last decade hasn’t done it? Bams a very likable guy too. Some fans are being petty, per par.

This has gotta be some of the stupidest discourse I have ever seen. He scored 83 points, that’s amazing. Who tf cares that he took 40-whatever free throws? Why did the Wizards foul him that much? Plus, he still has to make the feckin baskets.

I swear, every discussion with sports these days has to be:

1. Someone does something impressive
   
2. People/media come in to say why this isn’t impressive
   
3. People shit on the person and make excuses for why they aren’t actually good and why their person is better

Like, can’t 2 people be good at something? Can’t Bam be a good player that had an excellent night shooting and also Kobe was an amazing player that also had a good night shooting?

At least on this sub, I’ve seen far, far more people complaining about the negativity and all the haters who can’t enjoy accomplishments, than I’ve seen actual haters.

Every person critiquing Bam getting the record is soft. Even Kobe would call each and every one of you soft. Records are made to be broken. If you have a problem with it, stop the man from doing it.

What jacked up world are we in where a guy can’t even go out and score as much as he can without getting a bunch of flak? His coach told him to go out there and get it, and he did.

The spirit of competition says play your hardest, do your best. If you’re within striking distance of some kind of record, don’t take your foot off the gas. Go for it. Things like that aren’t given, you have to take them. Bam took one.

If you keep the performance and numbers the exact same, just switch out Bam with say Luka or Jokic, nobody would care about this. Its about the fact that the “wrong person” got 83 points. Which is dumb, it should be celebrated regardless of who did it.

1. People try to put limits on others to compensate for what they themselves are not capable of.

2. “Ethics” became an issue when players people didn’t like were torching their favorite teams.

3. This guy was torching the Wizards and was the best player on the court DECISIVELY. Yes, blame Washington’s HC for not stopping him much earlier. He had 70 with mad time left!

4. Box score lovers look at numbers and only see just that…numbers. If you watch basketball, you’d know that amount of points doesn’t come without doing most damage in the flow of the game.
