Jaylen Brown “we give the benefit to those who, you know, who necessarily are trying to manipulate the game into their advantage. And I just don’t think that’s basketball. Like let’s just play basketball.”
He had 15 free throws and flopped for most of them, he has been unbelievably entitled since Tatum got injured
This was supposed to be Brown’s MVP moment
SGA- 14pts 7⁄8 FG (0 FT) and a block on Brown in the 4th
Brown- 11pts 2⁄8 FG (7⁄7 FT) in the 4th
Brown was guarding SGA for most of those buckets as well.
Called his own number and got cooked.
Meanwhile SGA blocked him three times.
“Best two way player in the league.”
He must have foul-baited for those blocks /s
No he wasn’t! They brought up a pick literally every time to get JB off of him. It was the right play.
Y’all killing him for a bad game but he’s been great for most the season
If he wants to be considered for the MVP so badly that he whines about it every week, people are going to hold him to those standards after every win and loss.
Refs should have let the game go to OT and swallowed the whistle on that Chet foul. They gave us a subpar ending to an otherwise great game by both teams.
great but not mvp level great
He’s being killed for whining about refs while flopping his ass off and getting owned by a “foul merchant.”
He’s a great player, but he ain’t MVP when he gets dogwalked in a head to head with the MVP
You call that dog walked? Sga outplayed him, but dog walked? Nah man brown played good too, sga is just better and it showed
everybody better than SGA until it’s time to be better than SGA
Wise words from a decent man
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/Cu5xmNaElB
I’d love for Jaylen brown to explain what he was doing at 0:55 and 5:03 in this video
Stephen a pushing that narrative man is not top 2 mvp candititate
Fine I’ll say it: Everyone is better than SGA until it’s time to be better than SGA
Manipulating the game almost as much as manipulating his hairline
He literally just got ejected from the Spurs game because he got mad the refs didn’t buy into his flop attempt.
The brother got ejected 3 nights ago for flopping and crying about being called out for flopping
This guy whines 5x more than Luka if you add his twitter, post game interviews and twitch streams
At least Luka keeps it on the court
And then add Bill Simmons whining on his behalf and it’s even more insufferable. Makes it easy to root against JB.
He just is!
“He’s in the top 13 biggest whiners in sports today. I haven’t redone the list lately, but he may even be top 6 now!”
Uhh I think the main problem with Luka is that he does complain too much on the court, and this often means he’s not getting back on defense. Call me biased but I’d much rather have Brown on my team in terms of how and when he complains. No one’s forcing you to watch his twitch streams either. I don’t know if they get posted here but personally I’ve barely seen any clips from those, and when I do it has nothing to do with complaining about the refs
Do you hear yourself lol? You’d rather a player complain all game, pick up techs, and not get back on defense over one that complains off the court?
ethical whining
Jaylen Brown can be entitled hypocrite but he does not cry even close to the same amount. Luka will cry every basket that doesn’t go in with contact. Two whiniest players in the league though with Draymond already in Cancun mode, thinking about his next podcast topics.
He said combined. Even on social medias.
When was the last time you saw Luka whine on twitter about anything basketball related?
I don’t think I remember him being whiny in the post press conference either.
Yeah dude just leaves it all on the court
Was this basketball?
The world stopped and started turning the other way. In those times, Brown always feels a bit dizzy.
He dizzied up your squad so bad in the Finals, they shipped your lazy fat boy to LA
This dude is starting to become unlikable. At least Luka is funny and actually talks shit to refs. JB just sounds like bitch when he complains.
The message is right(ish), but it’s the wrong messenger after that flop and ejection.
Celtics fans think it was a foul and everyone else knows it was a flop.
To be fair, Stephon Castle is a stout boi.
When Castle gets his 3pt shooting to 40% he’s going to be a nightmare. Spurs are a deep team, super athletic and tall. The league should be worried.
He had almost double Shai’s free throws.
Didn’t this dude just have a wild flop highlight recently
Got himself ejected crashing out because the ref didn’t get him free throws on a flop.
It’s the embarrassment anger
He got fouled
Flailing in response to a foul is a flop. Creating contact to get a call is foul baiting. Hope that helps 🙏
And the haters still hating I see
Why are you still crying over it
Because its relevant here?
This guy is such a whiner haha
You’re just hating cause he’s Muslim. All good God will deal with y’all accordingly ✌🏼
what are you even talkin about 😭
God is reading your Reddit comments obv
God just declared that Jaylen Brown is going to heaven and SGA is going to hell
Seek help
Is this a copypasta or something
I hope so, inventing a new pasta like this during the month of Ramadhan would be goat material.
Inventing new copypasta that’s a small one liner is insane dedication
Are you saying that your make believe dude is going to punish me for saying that JB got owned by SGA?
Hey, psst, when you meet Satan, mention the Arby’s 5-for-5 deal.
Add us to the end of the line of terrible shit god ignores on the daily.
Nah, Allah agrees he’s annoying.
Satire?
I’m sure he’ll get to that right after he stops kids from starving to death
They’re going to heaven lol worry about yourself buddy
Oh brother… 🙄
I remember the Celtics a few years ago had Marcus Smart, Grant Williams, plus Tatum. That was one of the floppiest, foulbaitiest, complaining team I’ve ever seen.
Tatum ain’t a flopper
They thought they could sneak him in there lol. I’ll give him Smart and Grant but that’s a total of two players
[deleted]
The way your initial comment is written implies Tatum flops and foul baits though. Plus I really don’t think he complains more than the average star, though he did used to be a bit worse than he is now in that regard
Y’all really are so ignorant it’s insane. Tabum and brown both flop but not nearly as much as they push off
Lmfao we just dog walked yall the other night sit down Cavs fan
Yes he is and he’s also a push off spammer
Pusher I agree
Ppl are a lot more lenient on players selling/flopping on defense. Celtics were also at the low end of FTA the last season Grant was on the team.
That said, I understand, why its annoying to watch as a neutral, but every team wouold have loved to have Marcus back then.
OKC has been on the lower end of FTA every single year with this current roster too. But the narrative continues to be that the refs give everyone on their team every single foul. They’re in the middle this year and it’s the highest they’ve been in any year of their recent rise. They’re focusing on teams like OKC and Boston when teams like Denver and LA lead the league in FTA year after year after year
A big part of it is the disparity in whistle. It’s not fun to watch Tatum shove your player for FTs or shai jump into him for a call when White or Dort gets to just straight up tackle the dude without a call. And it extends across the team. The teams that drive and attack the paint don’t get rewarded on the contact against the Celtics or Thunder (leading to turnovers and fast break plays) while they spam push offs and 3s and get rewarded more with line trips.
Putting white right next to Dort like that is fucking criminal, mate
People are a lot more lenient towards that kinda stuff when it’s, let’s face it, lesser players doing it lol. That’s why someone like Smart is a crafty vet and SGA isn’t playing basketball the right way.
Not sure about that, cuz theres a ton of ppl out there claiming Ginobili invented flopping.
Been watching Basketall since the 80s and “taking a charge” has always been considered something positive, while flopping was always seen in a bad light.
I think the biggest factor is how popular ppl are as usual.
People don’t care unless you’re winning is probably a better way to phrase it
Vlade Divac was considered the King Flopper before Manu. It’s even been discussed that he was the one who made it a thing in the league.
So I’d take it with a grain of salt. It could very well be that it’s just a way to shit on Euros as they were starting to take a bigger role in the league. Just look at a guy like Stockton who was considered one of the dirtiest players in the league by players but the audience would never know that unless watched a lot of his play closely because the media always portrayed him as this clean cut scrappy guy. Dude flopped like you couldn’t imagine on D trying to draw the charge. And because he was smaller he got away with it. Which was also Vlades rationale for flopping, he used it as a tool to defend larger centers.
I feel like lesser known players definitely don’t get away with more flopping, if anything they’re less likely to be successful at flopping cause the refs don’t give them the calls as consistently.
I would emphasize what the other commenter wrote, it’s more acceptable to me and also just harder to flop on defense. It usually only works when a dude lower his shoulder into you and then you fall back to exaggerate the contact. There was a similar play with Wemby guarding KAT last week. Offensive players will be snapping their heads back and initiating the contact to draw a foul, which would never fly if attempted on defense
AR, Luka, LBJ timeline has got to be top 2.
I forgot Grant Williams even existed until now
No u dint 😂
I mean just 2 years ago you’d have Tatum and brown spamming push offs and then them, white, and Pritchard get to just tackle or grapple your offensive players. Meanwhile if you brush any of them it is a foul
So perhaps Shai goes seeking for contact at times. But then how do you explain those 13 MADE field goals on just 18 attempts ? Were thosee the result of complaining and whining to refs too ?
You are not going to believe this.. but when a guy gets free throws any time you guard near him.. Defenses tend to guard from further away with their hands further back.. giving guys like SGA more room for open shots… Crazy concept.
Tell that to Brown going 10 of 25 while foulbaiting.
Tell me you never watch Thunder basketball without telling me you never watch Thunder basketball… what an asinine comment; teams do quite the opposite, they double Shai the whole game.
He’s a warriors fan bro…let him be a dumbass
then why did Brown only manage to go 10-25 on a game high 14FTs?
you’ve never hooped
This is my favorite narrative the idiots use. So stupid it is an immediate flag that you aren’t even worth debating, we can all just move on
lol you sound so ridiculous
Lmao did you even watch how JB got his points?
Man, this is so obvious. People don’t know what they are looking at.
Dont try to talk logic to these people, it will never work. Our defense put their hands behind their backs when guarding him. Meanwhile, Dort and Caruso are grabbing jersey like its ass on prom night.
And JB had 14FTA while OKC as a team had 17FTA. Your point is asinine.
Maybe if your defenders actually guarded SGA he wouldn’t have dropped 35 on 81TS%
SGA had 6 FTA in the first quarter, yes they covered him with their hands down after. And JB actually gets fouled, he should have had more FTA.
‘JB actually gets fouled’
But it’s hard to guard him because he’s a great player, but also he does get a lot of calls. Now he’s not the only one , many other stars get the same treatment, including brown, but saying play better defense isn’t a fair assessment because better defense isn’t allowed against him and those type of players.
I agree with you, don’t get me wrong, but people acting like the entire Celtics roster have to tie their hands behind their backs to guard Shai is dumb.
I’ve seen players like Camara, Herb Jones, Amen Thompson all play very physical defense against Shai and give him some trouble, so it’s not impossible considering I think JB is in that tier of defender as well.
Yeah, both of those things can be true. He’s a great player. But he gets the friendliest whistle in the league and is a master of flopping, jumping into contact, etc.
I thought a few years ago, the league deemphasized rewarding players with FTs who intentionally jumped into a defender (in response to Harden spamming it). And yet I saw SGA do that and get rewarded.
Brown has possibly the least friendly whistle of any star of his caliber, last night’s FTs notwithstanding.
My favorite one was when Dort put his hands behind his back because he knew the refs caught him on that one. At least he didn’t injure any of our guys.
This is just the trendy thing to say after playing OKC now
Complains about free throws when he had double the amount of SGA and Boston as a team had more. Maybe if he wasn’t in his own head and jacking up shots for his mvp case it woulda went better
Finch got a cult following after his crash out after playing us.
It’s almost like it’s a pattern that people are noticing..
bro thinks he’s the best two way player until it’s time to back that up
He had an all-time brick laying performance in the ASG just chucking shit
Shai clears for sure
This dude shot almost as many FT’s himself as OKC did as a team (14 v 17) and had 7 in the 4th quarter alone compared to SGA’s 8 for the entire game.
Legendary narrative twisting by JB. Is he the GOAT??
I am ngl Jaylen Brown pushes off on a lot of his shots. I dont think that’s basketball.
He has really let the douche out this season
He was doing pretty good there for a while i was almost tempted to like him as an individual
really? he seems to be douchey most seasons. just ask him about Kyrie Irving and the Jews.
He’s always been a whiny douche
Oh brother…
Don’t need to be hearing this from a guy who shot 6 more FT than SGA lol
Is the “touch my hip and Ima just throw the ball outrage bounds for a call” guy?
Spoken like a true #2 driver
He does it as bad if not worse than anyone else. Guy’s concern for the “integrity” of the game is as real as his hairline.
Look at JB’s highlight reel. Mans traveled on all his best dunks lol.
Look at any star player’s highlights and it’s the same. The league very loosely defines when a gather step starts.
And?
Poor victim.
The is hilarious because Browns tries to, but he isn’t any good at it so he’s just resorts to crying about it lmaoooo
Says the guy that randomly falls on the floor every time the other team has 5 fouls.
I’ve seen about enough of this faux intellectual
Spoken by a guy who, along with Tatum, is allowed to stiff arm defenders. You’ve manipulated the game too, bud.
Boo hoo 😢
Stephen A needs to come get his mans lmao
Is this the same dude who threw a temper tantrum and ejected after the ref didn’t give him a weak call?
He wants so badly to be put in the same category as players like SGA. Its burning him up inside. Man just stop whining. Play how you want and stfu. SGA is doing his thing and not bothered by corny ethical faux basketball purists.
He will never be in the caliber of players Shai, Jokic, Giannis, Wemby, Luka are/have been in, a great player for sure but not in that group. so he whines, after practically every game. Like get over it dude I’m sorry you aren’t the best passing center OaT or baby MJ or White Harden or a 7’6” demigod or a 6’11” hyper-efficient freak athlete but that’s the lottery of life
I agree, and I honestly think a large chunk of why is simply his mindset. JB is a smart player that can get tricked or frustrated into making straight boneheaded decisions, and it should be so much harder for that to happen to him at this point in his career. And I think so many of those decisions come from a place in his ego that no true top tier player draws from. All that being said, he still has the ability to outplay top players, he just has to outplay his own mind first.
You got a tech and then charged at the ref screaming. You absolutely deserved to get tossed out the game
Sorry you lost and got outplayed
Come on. It is not like you and Tatum are not pushing off and shouting AYYY in every drive.
Don’t worry because at the other end they and their backcourt get to tackle, grab, and push guys with no calls either
The call is coming from inside the house
Yea I don’t like all the complaining just play the game you love and worry about how to win. Things just aren’t going to go your way in life all the time, just gotta adapt
This is the guy who just got ejected trying to sell a flop. The guy who painted his hair on so we could see exactly how he uses his brain on court.
Shai shot 13⁄18 from the floor and 7⁄8 from the free throw line
This loser shot 10⁄25 from the floor and 14⁄14 from the free throw line
Jb some chapsticks?
Is Jaylen Brown the new age Paul Pierce?
Everyone just trying to farm PR after losing to OKC.
They all do the same garbage
Bro almost shot as many Free Throws as the entire Thunder team last night 🤣
This is just propaganda for casuals who don’t know ball
Last time I saw this guy play the lakers he was pushing off every shot he took
Ironic
Tatum and Brown need a better nickname than The Jays. Whinge and Cringe?
this is hilarious coming from him, didn’t he get 15 fts this game to sga’s 8?
celtics had 4 fgm as a team in the 4th
The dark side will come for Cade too. You can only take so much contact without a call and see others sell soft fouls before you start to copy them.
Says the guy who flopped out of bounds but didn’t get the call. So, he gets embarrassed and takes it out on the official and gets tossed.
I mean yes SGA does do this, but Jaylen literally just went berserk after trying to flop from barely getting hand checked lol
I didnt realize how much of the victim mentality this dude has. Yeah the ejection was bad but to say you didnt deserve it after that tantrum you threw is just showing you lack accountability. You cost your team a chance vs the spurs because you couldnt control you lt emotions.
Now you finally got the whistle you’ve been crying for and then feel the need to take shots at other guys in the league? Its starting to become very clear why you weren’t a fit for team usa.
He was trying his hardest against sga nothing was working in that forth lol my bro just upset… it’s ok lol
stop whining and play
Brown is such a complainer. Still remember him complaining about Magic’s physicality in the playoffs last year. It worked because the refs reviewed every hard fouls the Magic made.
Left hand dribbling is part of basketball, starting in grade school.
Don’t we all manipulate the game to our advantage when we dribble the ball. 😂
But Shai shot less free throws than him last night
He took almost double the amount of FT’s compared to Shai. This is bizarre.
This man has become one of the biggest complainers of the nba. After yesterday’s win, he shook up with SGA like he don’t be talking shit about him. Weird.
I often think JB is quite well spoken but this is unbelievable hypocritical.
He flopped way more than Shai this game and got schooled because of it. Maybe he should focus on himself.
Hate us cause they ain’t us
There will always be a push to find an edge and things do cross the line but this self righteousness is beyond that.
I don’t get it. He is having a great year. Stop crying about the refs
Silence is golden
Bro stop complaining and play , he just lost his MVP case , pressure got to him against Spurs and Okc,
He’s always got something going on lol
Does he ever stop whining?
i get what he means, the foul baiting stuff gets exhausting to watch but until refs stop rewarding it, players are always gonna take the free points league needs to tighten the whistle if they really want “just play basketball”
Bruh I watched the refs carry your team over our banged up team in the playoffs 2 years ago. Tatum would push off every single play and they’d have the audacity to call fouls on garland for his chest making contact with Tatum’s push off hand while he’s getting shoved.
Then of course Tatum, brown, white, Pritchard etc get to grab your guys arms, legs, midsections etc without a call.
Like in a hospital east this team only made the finals off of the refs and they’re complaining about how the refs treat teams. It’s insane, and Celtics fans will echo they’re the victims when they’re carried.
He’s a whiner but he’s not wrong.
I like how JB is trying to get players to change how they play.
At the end of the day, flopping is bad for the league.
But, as all know, the real problem lies with the referees.
Flopping would stop once they stop calling it. The problem is the inconsistency, random ghost fouls called to “make up calls”. How often do we see a controversial call or missed call and then a call on the other side?
But, as we all also know, silver doesn’t give a fuck about flopping. He only cares about tanking and revenue.
Homie for sure took 5 free throws I can remember by doing the same shit Shai does. 🤡
I’m not saying he doesn’t. Every star player does the same shit. But, at least this season, he’s been consistent in talking about it
Hey y’all, other players shouldn’t do this thing, so only I can benefit from it. Because…. Basketball
He’s not trying to get players to change, he’s complaining when the other team does what his teams been doing for several years
He’s not the right messenger but I think he’s got a point. He doesn’t like it, but he sees the writing on the wall and you get benefited a lot on the court if you’re selling the fouls.
It really sucks to see the sport turn into what soccer is made fun of for. Dudes covering their faces after contact or staying on the ground to milk a foul. It’s all a bit extra.
Mike Brown said it the best after the Knicks played the Thunder last week: Shai does a great job convincing the refs he’s getting hit. The clip I just saw of Shai drawing a foul from leading his shoulder into Luka Garza who didn’t impede his way and had his arms to his side was crazy. That should’ve been a no call.
that was one call in a 48 minutes. Brown baited more than SGA over the game
Preach brother
Right message. Putrid messenger. He got a good whistle besides the trip.
