[Highlight] Chet Holmgren gets fouled with 0.8 seconds remaining in regulation and sinks the game-winning free throws
It was a foul. Sucks that it ended that way though.
Gg brother hell of a game
dude thinks he’s on the team
Weak ass lame call
Kinda sucks, I’ll take it though just like I know you guys would if it was flipped. Was a great game though!
shit ending but its a foul lol
Other thread is trying to say the refs shouldn’t have called it so it would go to OT. Insanity
You just gotta remember that a majority of people here are under 20 lol
Feels like half that much of the time tbh
This is a good rule of thumb for all internet related activities
Maybe if this was 10 years ago, but reddit is actually on the older side of social media. Teenagers view reddit as a boomer site and are on tiktok, youtube, or instagram instead. The average user here is probably in their mid to late 20s.
Makes sense with all the bad nba takes in here
Refs shouldn’t have called that to respect Kobe
I remember opening game of the season KD fouled Shai pretty clearly and people were angry that the game ended that way lmao.
Kevin also called timeout before before overtime when the game was tied and should’ve gotten a tech but that’s a whole other thing lol.
Yeah. Crazy that SGA went cross court to Caruso. He was cold as hell and SGA still trying to get him going even at the last shot.
when Caruso is cold, it just looks like he’s never shot a basketball before
Hahah. This is true. Him and Dort can look rough when it’s not falling.
Would’ve loved to see the Shai shot for the win
we won on opening night with a 1 pointer, nothing new here
The one time the Thunder could grab a board this game.
Anxious to see if Caruso can close games in the playoffs shooting like this. He’s getting the “put a center on him for rim protection” treatment currently.
He came up huge in a couple games last week, he was just cold today
He’s definitely had a few decent games but 30% on mostly good looks in this offense for the year is going to get this type of treatment.
If he goes cold in the playoffs I’ll just be anxious to see if the Thunder adjust with a better spacer with the depth yall have considering Dort, Caruso and of course Hartenstein are all guys you don’t really mind taking 3s this year. It’s just they really make up for it on defense obviously.
He also did make some key defensive plays down the stretch but man that shooting killed us tonight him Dort and Cason built houses
He shot 40% from 3P in the Finals, he’ll be fine.
He isnt absolutely knockdown, but he is usually very good. Just a bit rusty.
he hit two clutch threes a couple games ago, so it’s really a 50⁄50
I think saying the shooting year Caruso is having is definitely not 50⁄50. I love Caruso and imagine he’d be the first to admit that too.
No ur definitely right, this has been a ROUGH shooting year for him. Tho, it was also rough last year and he picked it up in the playoffs so hopefully that stays true again
Yeah by the numbers it’s more like 30⁄70 lmao these stats are actually tracked thunder buddies
I was surprised we had him out there down the stretch. Would’ve rather had Joe or jmac to give shai more space
He’ll be fine. He’s been pretty inconsistent all year but he was like that last year too before the playoffs, and he’s hit some clutch shots for us in recent games
Refs can’t win here. They call it the game is rigged they don’t call it the game is rigged
They dont call it = okc gets fucked = nba fans are happy and say they got it right
They call it = okc deservedly wind = nba fans whine
All it is
Luckily in this case it was an obvious foul
Yes but fuck OKC
Thunder flair. I must be missing the sarcasm
lol yes.. you are
They call it like they should lol. It’s a foul
Agreed, it’s a foul. I don’t think Chet would have got the shot off though.
I’ve also seen refs swallow their whistles for a lot worse shit on end of game plays.
But that’s an obvious foul
Yeah and they’re at OKC too. Had it been in Boston I think they hold their whistle.
Would be a crazy 7 game series but what do I know
I just prefer when refs have a shy whistle at the very end of the clock in a tie game (unless the contact is specific, clear, and egregious). When it’s a messy pile of limbs and bodies like this, I think it’s better to leave it (which most experienced refs tend to do, for good reason, imo).
It’s an obvious foul. You want them to swallow the whistle on an easy call because it’s against your team but if they ignored a foul like that against Boston you’d be losing it. At least be honest about it.
Holmgren just dunks it if there’s no foul, you’re helping decide the game by “just leaving it”.
Unfortunate, clearly a foul but kinda just was in a bad spot with the box out
Yea unfortunately that’s a legitimate foul, good effort
What an anti climatic ending lol
Would have been more climatic if Celtics don’t foul and Chet gets a buzzer beater dunk
Damn.
Obvious foul but I hate when games end on free throws.
Yeah shitty way for that game to end after all those clutch shots.
Yea definitely a foul but hate to see games end like that
How could you possibly think this isn’t a foul lol
Dort nailed him! Ignore what Hauser did!
Actually, maybe you could explain this to me. I thought officials neglect incidental contact after the all-ball block; is that not the case? Is Hauser’s body colliding while coming down not considered incidental? Is there something I’m missing here?
It was an anti-climactic moment compared to our other previous clutch moments. GGs to the Celtics
Celtics double team took away another Shai clutch game winner
I mean it’s the smart thing. They’ve seen him hit daggers consistently.
yeah I don’t know why you wouldn’t double him when Dort and Caruso are ice cold like they were. just weren’t able to get good rebounding position
Which is crazy because I felt like okc got killed on the boards all night. Then got the most important one
What a stupid foul lol
yeahhh but it’s not really his fault, it’s a foul but just got unlucky in that mess.
Not really. If he didn’t foul the putback was near guaranteed. Since he fouled it was 50⁄50 whether the refs callee it or not.
Definite foul but damn this game deserved a better end
Whenever Chet has to hit clutch FTs I get scared. I hope he overcomes Wemby aura during playoffs FT attempts lol
Wemby has nothing to do with it. I swear his clutch minute FT% is like 45%.
He blew a game in the playoffs last year with them. I think it was Denver game 1 (could have been Indy game 1)?
it was the denver game, missed two i believe, might have been three
Brother me too lmao 🤣
Game 1 still stings
Def a foul and I’m glad it was called because fouls should be… but man is it frustrating that half the time end of game fouls are called and half the time it’s “let the players decide the game” and guys get massacred on final possessions. Wish the NBA would just be consistent with applying rules at all times like they did here.
clutch board. would not have minded OT. fun game
Are Celtics fans really saying that’s not a foul?
nah it was a foul it just sucks ass to end a back and forth fun game on some rebounding FTs. anticlimactic
im sure any other contact besides an arm full force to someones neck wouldn’t have been called.
Anticlimactic for you guys, but we were sweating bullets with chet shooting clutch free throws lol hes had the yup in these moments
surprised he didn’t purposely miss the second one to kill time tbh, not that it didn’t work out but I thought that was gonna be the plan with so little time left
We don’t like it any more than you guys do. I just like seeing good basketball. Yeah it was a foul, but I wish we’d got to see a clean shot get off.
yeah was a hell of a game, which I was not expecting going in with JT and Derrick sitting/no Vuc lol.
there was some great shotmaking in the last few minutes
High IQ by the Thunder coach, not taking a timeout here (Joe couldn’t sub in a big).
The Celtics had a timeout
They can’t call a timeout while OKC has live possession
He means not calling a TO after brown scored.
Lemme just call a TO while the other team has possession, that’ll throw them off their rhythm
As much as I’d like to blame the Dort crash this is indeed a foul.
Thumbnail be crazy like Dort is the one who fouled him lmao
Fuckin Hall Monitors!
Ughhh such a bad brick just lands to Chet. Game deserved a proper game winner or overtime. Fun game. Lots of competitive games down the stretch of the season with the very best putting on great TV
Boring way to end a great game. Wanted OT or a true buzzer beater
It looks like Chet got fouled by Dort.
Yeah, Dort has a 3rd arm, and it has a lighter skin tone that karate chopped Chet in the back of the neck.
13 from celtics elbows the back of his neck. lol dort runs into him yeah, but its the arm to the neck thats called.
Fuck Boston but I wanted OT. Lame finish
Worst way to end a game ive ever seen
I stayed up until 4 AM to watch this game end like this
Lmao people were genuinely complaining that the refs didn’t rig the game to prevent the Thunder from winning. The psychosis people on this sub exhibit when it comes to OKC is incredible
And if you don’t like that, you don’t like NBA basketball
Don’t worry Celtics bros. We clippers fans also know what it’s like to lose to an airball that results in points with under a second left
Was watching at a bar. Prime really needs to show if this is bonus or not? Just got home can anyone confirm this was in the bonus? Clearly on the floor. No indication of bonus on the scorebug so couldnt tell.
It was a foul but it looked like it was before the shot.
Dort literally shoves holmgren into hauser
Maybe so, but he didn’t do jack for me on fantasy this game.
NBA is a joke
Weak.
Fitting end for this team lol
13’s a dumbass
He’s a 2 way player, actually pretty good
I’m sure he usually is
he’s an end of the bench guy but he better than half your bench
Harper fouls him on the rebound before the shooting motion. Should be Thunder ball out of bounds. Now if the Thunder were in the bonus fair, but idk if they were or not?
Both teams were in the bonus. Boston hit it around the 5 minute mark and OKC around the 3 minute mark iirc.
4th quarter had a ton of fouls in general
ah, makes sense. they were doomed either way then
was second foul in last two minutes
you missed the foul 40 seconds prior where brown decided to run through caruso and knock him over.
Lmao I know the Thunder fan is not complaining about foul calls
“run through” lol
Bonus
The foul is on Hauser anyway.
Anyone with eyes can see all of the contact on that play is caused by OKC player crashing the glass…
Then why didn’t the Celtics challenge it? They had one.
It was a foul.
The amount of whistles in this game made it so fucking boring to watch I hated it
You’re kidding me right? It was 36 fouls the whole game. 2nd fewest of all the games tonight
Honestly im not a fan of brown… keeps on complaining every goddamn play… u gotta be atleast as good as luka to do that
JB made Luka look like a fat slob pussy ass bitch in the Finals and his team traded him cuz of it lmfao
It should be impossible to win a game off free throws. Change the rules to ALL foul calls with 24 seconds left do the following
24 seconds or less, tied game: side out
16 seconds or less, tied game: clock reset to 16, side out
And then if you are down 3 and get fouled you get 1 FT and a side out. This can repeat until the game is tied.
You’re only saying this because it’s OKC lol
Nah. I say the same thing any time a game ends on free throws. Actual garbage conclusion.
No white, No JT, no vooch and heaps of minutes from a two way player and the young squad.. OKC don’t scare anyone
Should have let the teams play this one out.
This was an end of clock cluster-fuck that should be left uncalled unless it’s extremely obvious that a player went out of their way to foul someone else.
Kinda ruined the ending of a fire game.
We all knew OKC would win off of free throws. NBA script classic.
OKC has been winning on buzzer beaters what are you talking about
This is what I’d say too if I didn’t bother to watch any basketball
