He asked out because he was not offered an extension despite carrying them for large parts of his Clippers tenure. And he got traded to a team with a much better chance of winning it all, just by the virtue of being in the East.
Shame for the Clippers though, Kawhi plays like this, stays fit, they keep Harden, Zubac and try add on the margins at the deadline and they could have legitimately competed in the West. Maybe not win 3 series in a row given age, but in a series against anyone but OKC they would fancy themselves.

We are so bad at basketball
He’s like the only player I feel could just randomly say ‘I think I’ll win another championship this year’ and then do it. If he’s on on though then they could literally upset any team. That collapse against the Spurs was crazy but they’re starting to look really legit. They don’t seem perfectly cohesive just yet but Mathurin and Garland are adapting insanely fast.
Even before this game I think they for sure beat every team from the East in <=6 games minus the Celtics, and I feel they’re a better team than Houston, Wolves, Lakers. Playoffs Nuggets would be extremely tough of course. Spurs will be the hardest team to beat for anyone if ‘playoffs inexperience’ doesn’t prove to be a factor for them which I’m starting to doubt it will be. They’re not beating this version of the Spurs at least or OKC unless Kawhi plays like a god, which everyone knows is very possible.
I just feel like every remaining game for them is really important (ignoring standings) to get like the reps with their final form, for the playoffs.
