Jokic with the poor man’s 5x5 at halftime: 6 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists, 5 steals, and 5 turnovers
https://www.nba.com/game/hou-vs-den-0022500950/box-score
One of the weirder statlines you’ll see
If he gets a quintuple-double with turnovers that’ll be such a stupid stat.
He’s almost guaranteed on 4 of the 5
Which 4? Guaranteed 10 turnovers? Lol
He could guarantee that if he wanted to though
Calm down Terry
yes
[deleted]
Cam Johnson also got a quintuple double. 17pts, 10 reb+ast+stl+blk
Am I being whooshed? That’s not a quintuple
SMDH what Jokic is doing is unethical and a threat to the sport of basketball.
Jokic is tarnishing the image of the league by trying to break Mike Bantom’s record of turnovers in a game with 16. He should stop at 15 to preserve the integrity of the league.
If Denver starts fouling late to regain possession so he can turn it over more, we riot.
Quintuple double watch
He’s center but just can’t get 5 blocks
Ehh blocks are overrated. The only major stat of the 5 that doesn’t guarantee points or possession
It guarantees no points are scored on a shot
what if it’s blocked into hoop
Yeah and the ball could, and many times does, go directly back into an offensive players hands for another shot attempt and points.
Same can happen with rebounds and steals.
Those are called turnovers.
Words Spoken like a true casual.
I can guarantee I watch more basketball than you lol blocks are quite easily the least valuable of the 5 major stats and I’d love to hear how I’m wrong. And I mean valuable as in value added to the team and the game, not to show how valuable an individual player is. Again, they are the only stat that doesn’t directly result in points or a possession. You could get 4 blocks in a single possession and your team never actually gain possession of the ball and the other team still scores.
I agree. Actually if you think about it blocks guarantees at best 50% chance of gaining possession. Steals and rebounds on the other hand guarantees 100%.
Blocks are about sending a message. Once you get a few, people get scared of shooting near you.
Not a flex, watching basketball is a vice
Words spoken like a true casual.
Great response. Your latest post tells me everything I need to know.
Brother if they were quite easy why exactly is your boy 1 of the worst at ?
He didn’t say they were easy, that they’re just the weakest in terms of equating to points saved. It seems like a block will either get sent out to the stands or end up in the offensive teams hands most of the time. And no, I don’t have the data to back this up, thank you.
I’m disappointed in myself for even responding to someone with reading comprehension this low
I feel the same way about children like you who don’t know anything about basketball.
Dude isn’t saying they’re easy, he’s saying they’re less valuable. Shit, go back ten years and look at Whiteside leading the league in blocks when nobody would’ve called him a top tier defender. Blocks aren’t easy to get, but they also aren’t immediate indicators of elite defense either.
So are Defensive Rebounds. Your supposed to get the ball back after an opponent’s possession which is why a team who gets scored on gets the next possession. So a defensive rebound is like not turning the ball over whereas an offensive rebound is like a steal.
Exactly!
Somehow in your supposed infinite wisdom and experience you’ve totally missed the fact that blocks have external impacts to the flow of an offense in that they deter players from even attempting layups and other shots at the basket (the most valuable shot attempts). What how offenses play when Wemby or Gobert are playing defense.
That effect alone makes blocks more valuable than steals or rebounds, let alone the fact that blocks often lead to a change of possession.
Probably the best defensive half i’ve seen from him all year. He’s been active everywhere.
It’s good to hear he’s moving well, at least. It seems like he’s been even slower than usual after the injury and long rest
Yeah broadcast was saying Adelman told them today the knee has been hampering him. He looked good moving today though. The wrist is the bigger concern imo
Surgery on the off season I hope, though maybe he wouldn’t want it I guess
He’s playing into shape
He’s still the MVP in my books
MVP for Denver sure
eh there’s been a lot of open layups and dunks for the rockets. they were 10⁄12 in the paint in the first quarter according to the nuggets broadcast
Not sure if you’ve been watching but Denver has been bringing Jokic up to the level on PnRs. Majority of those points in the paint aren’t on him
That’s how you know ppl only box score watch.
Are you watching the game or the box score dude gave up 40 paint points with him standing there and not stopping anyone at the rim
He’s been brought up at the level on nearly all pick and rolls
Nikola on quintuple-double watch
This has only happened 4 other times this season for the entire game.
Wait, Nurkic and Jalen Johnson got a 5x5 against each other in the same game? That’s pretty crazy
Damn that Jalen Johnson stat line is pretty insane. Wonder if he had any blocks that game.
Cade the GOAT lol
He’s having a horrific year with turnovers, kind of insane
Wemby who’s worst attribute is those live ball turnovers because he’s 9’10’ and the distance between ball and arms is so high has a lower handle TOV%
He’s averaging just over one touch per offensive possession, it’s not surprising that a lot of turnovers are going through him. Normalize turnovers per possession and it’s not nearly as bad a stat as it seems.
I am comparing it to his previous years and not overall, even with these turnovers his playmaking insane there’s no doubt about that, with that volume of touches/assists you will turn it over
Just talking about his current season vs others, it’s very noticeable this year he loses the ball way more
Since coming back from injury he lost his spidey senses. He gets flustered by double teams now when earlier in the year Jokic could pass through a double team from his blind spot.
His turnovers have been insane since coming back from injury. Kinda misleading to attribute it to this year lol.
It’s weird how susceptible he’s become to weak side help, when it was one of his strongest suits.
The guy from DNVR explained it best, how Jokic went from “wow, this guy has eyes on the back of his head!” to “does this guy have eyes? of any kind?”
Quadruple double tho
2 of those turnovers were a rebound that got poked out of his hands before even securing it and another was an offensive foul but sure go ahead and frame this however you want
What about the other 3
Also btw 3 turnovers in a half is very bad
Only Jokic could put up numbers like that and still make it look easy.
One of those turnovers is from Sengun flopping
lol sengun identified where Jokic’s arms were going on making a pass and just shoved his head in the path in Jokic’s cylinder
And I’m not completely sure on whether it counted but I think he was acquiring possession on a rebound on one and it actually got poked away before he had full possession, but they counted it as a rebound and turnover rather than just the other player getting the board.
Unorthodox ways to get turnovers I guess but it’s been weird
Please get 5 more steals….
“Jokic doesn’t play defense”
Wtf
Not bad, offset all his turnovers.
genuinely cant tell if i should be happy or not about this statline. on one hand theres some good defense going on but on the other, turnovers. ive just settled at a morbidly impressed neutral.
Increases my belief that he’s the MVP
That’s my boy.
Kirilenko statline
Fuck Sengun
Jokić is no Clint Capela.
Do people here watch Nuggets games? 50% of his turnovers are clear fouls. The most obvious hand grabs and arm slaps i’ve seen on passes. And they just get ignored by refs. It’s super unfortunate how inconsistent star whistle are. Curry/Lebron/Jokic are on the opposite end to Shai/Embiid/Luka on the whistle spectrum. It’s disgusting.
The Russell Westbrook
Quintuple single
If he had any ability to protect the paint he would be in goat talks. Unfortunately everyone just takes him to school down low
He’s a literally traffic cone on the perimeter and might as well be 4 foot tall in the paint on defense
Almost every C is a traffic cone on the perimeter tho.
I actually think he’s better on the perimeter lol
He doesn’t automatically give up 2 points there
Yeah he gives up 3 points instead
Correct
He’s a literally traffic cone on the perimeter and might as well be 4 foot tall in the paint on defense, Houston can’t make a 3 but they have 40 points in the paint because Jokic can’t stop anyone there lol
You’ve only said this 3x. Maybe 5 more times js the sweet spot
Still MVP
Not every comment thread needs to turn into a fight
It’s also ridiculous. He’s severely underperformed with his roster even when accounting for injuries.
Nah that ship sailed lol
Probably won’t get even a single 1st place vote btw
