The next best scoring options were Smush Parker (who was ass) and Lamar Odom (who disappeared every other game as the 2nd option). Kobe was a willing passer, this was evident once we made moves to be a contender again in the late 00s on the way to 3 straight Finals. The problem in the mid-00s was the G-League roster surrounding him.
The 4th quarter last night really did end up being a lot of stat padding with the Heat firmly in control, but Kobe’s 81 wasn’t really like that. The Lakers didn’t pull away till later in the 4th and at that point why not go for it.
