[Highlight] No-call that led to Jaylen Brown’s ejection during Spurs game
if youre a star and youre willing to straight up lose the ball to sell a foul, the refs will usually give you the call
if they dont, youre embarrassed. and when you get embarrassed, you get mad.
If you give a mouse a cookie, he eventually gets ejected.
And if he gets ejected he will go to the lock room. He will rage and destroy things and punch a few fire extinguishers. If he punches a fire extinguisher he will break his hand and go to the hospital. At the hospital he will be given a local anesthesic for his hand while they perform surgery. Then he will be sent home. After his long day he will be thirsty and want some milk. He will recover the next 6 weeks. After 6 weeks he will play again and think about that milk he had the day he broke his hand, and he will ask for a cookie.
A tale as old as time.
Is he mad not getting the call or mad Tatum is back and stealing his high usage
Best book ever.
Was about to say, he’s gotta sell that shit better.
Or just play ball..
And when I get mad, it makes me nervous. And when I get nervous, I get scared. And when muthafuckas get scared that’s when muthafuckas accidentally get shot!
looks like a flop.
This the shit I be talkin about.
Half steppin ass mothafuckas. You think it’s a game? You think its a fuckin gaaaame?
It’s embarrassing to flop and not be rewarded and turn it over.
Blaming the ref is a way of trying to shift the blame and minimise embarrassment.
Pretty common behaviour at all levels of the game.
It’s even more embarrassing to be so angry about it that you completely lose control and get ejected. I don’t understand why he overreacted so much to this.
Coz his ego was hurt that the ref didnt buy the flop. So he doubles down
Doubling down would be getting the first tech. After that… Dude, just let it go and get back on D. Your team needs you on the floor, not in the locker room watching the game on TV.
But don’t you see? If he acts that mad, surely they will realize he didn’t flop and it was a real foul! (He flopped)
I keeps it real.
My take is that he was already embarrassed about missing that open dunk a couple possessions earlier, was mad at himself and then took it out on the refs.
Refs weren’t amazing last night, but this was such a whatever no-call. I do think JB just wanted to get the one tech to make whatever point he was trying to make, but then the other ref who wasn’t involved in the call and wasn’t the head official came in and gave him a 2nd quick T. I don’t really feel any sympathy for JB because he shouldn’t have been complaining that much to begin with, but the refs also contributed to making the situation messier than it needed to be.
Quick T? Maybe, but totally deserved.
A technical should be treated as a warning to say “alright, I’ve heard enough”…not an invitation to say “Please tell me more!”
Energy!
Because his ego far exceeds his faux intelligence
Fine his ass
It was.
Or Brown has the core strength of a baby deer.
I give the refs a lot of shit, but they deserve some kudos on this whole sequence.
SGA gets that call
Absolutely you could see he pushed off with his right foot/ toes instead of landing the foot flat
Yes, no force but his own took him down…
Over THAT!?
Exactly! Celtics fans making it seem like Steph Lu Dort’d him into the stands. BS
We are NOT calling Castle “Steph”
Haha thank you.
I was about to say I swear that was the Spurs they were just playing, yeah nice try pal.
It’s now a verb lol
Shoulda seen the Celtics fans in the game thread. They were incandescent
Is that a slur for Irish? /s
You know Celtics fans don’t know what that means (idk what that means)
That’s a total flop
There is more contact in my daughter’s 8U basketball games
Grade school girls basketball games are absolute carnage.
Yah he was trying to sell that call. Not so much as a flop, but h definitely could have played through that.
No he flopped. Straight poetic
Complete dive. Barely touched. He should be ashamed, but I don’t think he is based on his tweet after the game
Legit if he hadn’t flopped maybe he gets the call. But because he flops, it just looks like Castle’s hand was staying with him, rather than pushing him.
“You gotta be a flopper. If you wanna be an MVP, you wanna be top of the top, you gotta sell your soul and just be a flopper.” -JB
This is what is wrong with todays NBA…
100%. That’s not a call at a call your own foul YMCA pick up game let alone the NBA.
Don’t disrespect pickup games at the Y. If you called most of the shit considered a foul in the NBA you would get beat up.
You would 100% be banned from most pick up groups the second you started calling baby shit. You get one a game and any more than that and people start getting real annoyed that you’re slowing the game down.
Right. Most people will call their own foul if they really foul someone. Like if its go to block a shot and my body is all over the player and prevent them from jumping i call it a foul before they even call it lol.
You remember pick up ball back in the day? When you would dam near have to be beheaded to call a foul. Or u would be preyed upon and viewed as weak. Some cases people would fight you. Flopping and calling 15 baby fouls in pick up in my day you wouldn’t be allowed to play with us. These baby fouls and prideful flopping in NBA is pretty funny. Pick up 20 years ago we hammered people and had such pride not to call fouls, flop, or pretend your hurt. Different generation now and we gotta adapt I guess. Some these players would rather a foul then a basket
I played a lot of pickup hoops growing up and lived in the hood. 80 percent of fights I saw growing up were basketball related.
Most pickup games I’ve played in, calling a foul at all gets you shit. Like the person has to full on body check you into a fence for them not to bitch about you calling a foul.
The standards for fouls in pickup games is definitely not the standard we want for organized games, because then people will get clearly fouled every play without a call.
You’re right but now I’ve found good runs where people play pretty clean and call fouls on what I consider to be normal basketball fouls, and it’s 100x better than those bum runs where you get dudes who suck at basketball but know you can’t possibly call every time they grab your wrist
It is possible to find good pickup games
Totally. League has so many fun players to watch and this is what we end up having to watch.
SGA is getting that call, let’s be honest
That’s not really his style - he only really looks to force shooting fouls, which is smarter.
He literally didnt against jokic and then got a tech for throwing the ball at him lol
Yeah. This league is fucking cooked. I can’t stand this shit.
We should applaud refs for not rewarding the flop. Maybe we are slowly uncooking
It’s performative ballet
If you tried to do this in LA Fitness you’re getting in a screaming match and the white kid in crocs waiting on next is getting subbed in for you right then and there
Yup. This is I guess technically a foul. But it’s also a flop. Good no call imo, and I’m a Celtics fan.
Unfortunately the idea that people can be impartial judges is just a false narrative that society needs to understand. Refs are going to make mistakes….and I don’t care if they do, I’ll certainly bitch but at the end of the day it is what it is. The major issue I see, and it’s highlighted in the NBA, is that the ego of the refs and umps is at an all time high. They act like cops…zero accountability but can fuck up your shit on a whim.
What an assault by Castle
I assume he’ll be suspended.
Deported. Straight to Gitmo.
Get the guillotine sharpened.
They send them to el Salvador now
Flagrant 3.
Brown was just educated in the Castle Doctrine. Maybe next time he stands his ground.
Brown could have died!
A disgusting act!
He really tried to sell that weak push from Castle, then threw a tantrum when no one bought it LOL.
The ref has a perfect view of it and didn’t hesitate at all.
That’s what’s so funny because a lot of people said “the ref was RIGHT THERE!” Yes, to see the flop.
He couldn’t see the push (not much of a push, but still), his view was blocked by JB, really smart and sneaky hand check by Castle, well timed, his little push was basically hidden by JB’s body. Even if he was in view of it, it is a soft hand check, not that big of deal.
So embarrassing for Brown to get ejected over this call and for so many people to defend him. He and Celtics fans have only himself to blame for his ejection
Seeing the varrying responses in different threads most people defending him didn’t watch the game. They just saw “JB ejected for dissent” and started talking about how refs should never eject stars no matter what (or that if Draymond is sometimes allowed to do something then everybody should too)
Literally had spittle flying out of his mouth.
Im guessing he was just hungry.
Crashing out over a flop tf
That was a flop. I like brown but he deserves to be ejected after the way he lost his call at the refs
Couldn’t agree more, to both statements.
Well, that’s a proper flop!
Not to be my boomer dad but this is why the NBA kind of sucks. You have all of these unbelievably talented athletes doing their absolute best to find a way to be fouled, then throwing a shit fit when they dont get their way. It’s embarrassing.
You can’t even play D anymore. You have to be someone of Wembys size to have an advantage otherwise you risk getting baited
That’s an obvious flop. Pretty disappointed in JB right now. 😕
I’m sure he’s not getting calls on actual fouls so he’s just trying to get the calls he deserved prior but all flopping is trash.
Everybody was complaining about the refs ruining taking over the game in yesterday’s threads but seriously his reaction to him flopping was childish and embarrassing.
I’m Team Ref on this one
I’m sure Steph is strong kid but…
It’s disgusting. He got away with ASSAULT.
Instead of flopping how about just drive to the basket lol
but i was downvoted yesterday for saying he just tripped over himself. it was clear as day then and a replay just solidifies that unless castle is a jedi and used the force then this is a total flop
Sorry that happened to you yesterday.
Those sweet internet points 😞
Thoughts and prayers
That’s weak
Soft like Charmin.
The acting is so obvious when he only put his toes down with his right foot and never even tried to plant his heel.
lol he uses the same amount of force to shove off players with his off hand on offense.
What a cry baby
The insecurity of Brown returns the second Tatum touches the floor again.
Thats the one you get ejected over?
Damn JB… Damn.
100% a flop. Barely touches him
its ok brown you can rest now, celtics real first option is back
Good angle
50⁄50 call. Definitely got pushed, was definitely flopping
He pushed the little girl harder than castle pushed him lol if you can even call it a push
Yes, it’s a weak foul that would often (but not always) get a whistle
Yes, he oversold it
Yes, the first tech was deserved the way JB came back at the ref for a second time after the first round of yelling
Yes, the second tech was deserved.
Brown pushed the little girl harder than Castle pushed him, and she didn’t complain at all.
This is hilarious cause it’s actually true
Because it is a flop
If Silver had balls he’d add a fine for flopping to whatever he fines him for his tweets. What a joke
Per Keith Smith
It was Ford’s smug reaction that set Brown off. He’s consistently that way and it’s why players can’t stand him.
Edit: This doesn’t excuse Jaylen’s crash out, just adding context to why he got so pissed. It obviously wasn’t just this one no-call
Keith Smith is also a Celtics fan who thought it was a clear foul, and that Ford provoked all of it. He’s been tweeting about how much he hates Ford for seven years. So small grain of salt required, I think.
Maaaybeee…. you wouldn’t worry about him being “smug” if you didn’t flop the fuck out of minor contact, and then lose your shit when the ref didn’t buy it.
Garza was flopping all over the place. Scheierman kicked his head back and started to yell before he even made contact with Wemby on one. I would a million times rather the NBA come down on flopping than tanking.
They were supposed to with the flopping technical rule we see once a year that they decided to stop consistently calling
At this point I want a full tribunal who reviews every game the day after and starts tallying flops.
If a ref is *consistently* that way, then you make it a part of your game plan and adjust accordingly.
He wanted to get ejected 😂😂. Boy wanted no parts of Wemby
got big mad cause his flop wasn’t called.
flop
Softest push I’ve seen since…
Even a premier ref would give that as a flop. All the clips I saw before this made it look like he got hit, he got a hand on the hip and threw the ball out of bounds? Then totally freaked out. I guess Tatum getting all attention was too much
He does have a bad whistle given how much he drives but this was like the most inopportune time to crash out over it. Straight flop bro.
Flopper slopper
Lol JB crashing out over him being a flop baby
This is exactly why I don’t watch the NBA anymore. People actually play defense on you and then you complain about it and want a foul for everything they do to you.
You just hang out on basketball subreddits?
He was trying to flop and get castle his 3rd foul to get him off the floor. Didn’t work and he lost his cool. He is 100% at fault.
You can’t just flail and expect to get a call. You gotta learn that modern nba art of selling the minimal contact like the top dawgs.
And then you complain to the refs and get kicked out. You gotta develop the skill I guess …
JB gotta ask Shai for lessons
From flop to crashout record speed.
The refs were right
Went to sleep there’s 10 Jaylens in the NBA. Woke up, there’s 30 Jaylens in the NBA.
Bro got busted for the no call dive and couldn’t handle it lol
First off, it’s a Carry & Travel.
Second off, it’s a Flop.
Can you imagine if they called a travel? The meltdown would be an all timer
Lmao Wemby didn’t say shit to refs about no call after getting decked in his nose borderline flagrant foul and brown completely crashes out over not getting a ticky tack call? Embarrassing
Flop culture kills this sport
He threw a tantrum over this?
Look. I’m a Spurs fan and I’d say that could be a call. But to be so damn heated after it was not called? That I don’t understand.
The first tech should’ve been for the flop
Feels like the ejection is justified after seeing this and knowing he crashes out over it. Get this shit out of the game.
People were fuming live that the refs gave him 2 legit techs because he crashed over and this light ass push (and a flop btw), come on.
With how hot he was I thought the push would be way worse lol he flopped out of bounds
“Yo, my people, whassup baby! Y’all don’t remember me?”
Jaylen Brown to the refs probably
He’s livid Tatums back and won’t get attention anymore
If luka reacted the same way after a flop like that they might shoot him
lol pussy
This flopping shit is killing the sport
Crying JB thought he could get all the attention by tweeting at halftime just for Bam to drop 83 😭😭
He flopped
Flop City
Wtf don’t they have like trainers that have this small mattress they hold and push them constantly while dribbling and shooting to train against having a body on them all the time?
The hell is this soft shit.
Gotta say, why did he get so mad? Yes, sometimes refs will call that crap… but if you are willing to roll the dice on exaggerating contact so much that it makes you lose control of the ball… you gotta live with it not going your way.
Tried to sell it and flopped, hilarious watching him rage about it.
He flopped no way that little hand contact launched him
Is this an Olympic thing?
He used domain expansion to push him again .5 seconds after the first push, truly devious
Castle murdered him
Acting like he got shot
……so what exactly was he bitching and moaning about? Got ejected for nothing lol all because his flop wasn’t rewarded?
But, but guys, All I’ve seen the last 16 hours is 8 FTA in the last 3 halves of basketball….
Usually when you shove, your wrist goes forward. Like your hand is pushing the guy. Steph touches him but it’s not a hard shove because you can clearly see jalens body doesn’t react like a hard shove nor does Steph’s hand.
Flop. Good call
I love JB, but he overreacted to both the “push” and no call
Jaylen too damn built to be flailing like that 😂😂😂
Celtics entitlement
damn near broke his back with that push!!!
And dude immediately ran to twitter to complain about it
They tried breaking victors nose a few plays before this, but he mad someone touched his hip 💀
COME ON DAWG!
So he tripped over his own feet
It’s 50⁄50. Castle pushed a little bit Brown so it could have been a foul. It wouldn’t be a bad decision. But yeah Brown flopped too and I can understand why they didn’t call a foul here.
“No-call”
Butter fingers Brown
As a Celtics fan, I will admit that wasn’t a foul. However, I think the frustration just boiled over from Jaylen over the fact that the referees don’t give him a star whistle. I guarantee there would be other star players that would have gotten a foul call there. I would confidently bet if that was SGA, the referees would have reviewed the play for a flagrant.
Receiving star treatment from the referees can make a massive difference. From MVP consideration, Allen NBA teams, contracts, to endorsements. Heck, you could even score over 80 points with a favorable whistle.
I guarantee there would be other star players that would have gotten a foul call there.
Like Wemby when he was hit to the face in fast break? No call.
NBA carries are absolute egregious
Bam would’ve gotten the call and shot FTs.
NBA players are complete pussies
Rare W from the refs.
I think the little shove out of bounds had more of an impact on his ability to keep his balance than maybe it appears. Was it a hard push? No. Was it maybe enough to move him off is line? Maybe. Steph is standing squared up and Jaylen in motion trying to tightrope the sideline.
I say this as a warriors fan who cares little for either team.
I’m assuming this is the straw that broke the camels back. As people have mentioned, Brown has never really lashed out like that. I find it hard to believe it was an isolated incident that triggered him. More than likely he flopped here to try and get attention to it and when they (rightfully) didn’t call it he got upset.
Now unless he was hacked like Shaq, I still think the progression to his frustration is unreasonable
Damn dude just cut the aura farming he’s done this season in half
Bet he wasn’t mad that they didn’t call the carry and travel…
nice try but you’re not sga
Wasn’t Jaylen complaining that you cant be an MVP candidate without being a major flopper? Guess he took his own advice
Obvious flop. Which physical force took him down?
Devils advocate think he just got pushed medium strength but at a bad time when he was also stepping and caused him to fall.
And yes he could have flopped but don’t think he’s a flopper.
It’s very possible he just tripped due to step Timing and the push and was pissed cuz he did turn it over and no call.
Sometimes you can also get tripped softly and still fall and turn it over. Most refs domt call a soft trip
He barely touched him…come on JB
Wait, are you serious?
The guy lost his shit, got ejected from the game, and had to be restrained, all because the refs didn’t buy his lame-ass flop there?
Definition of the word SAWFT.
All that Bigen really fried Jaylen’s brain
Lets be honest here…ya there was some contact/push, but did Brown need to flop and flail that much? Nope.
…. I’m fine with a no call here lol 😄
More broadly, the big issues are that A. calls should be even across all teams and players but they’re not, and B. flopping sucks
Historic crashout
No call? Surely you mean flop, good sir. When it takes a second ti fall down after the contact, that’s a flop.
but he doesnt flop
Whole league is bitch made now a days. Miss 80s and 90s NBA.
Brown spent today getting a refund on his acting classes
Mind you this after 2 spurs got hit in the face with no call 🤨
