Just gonna say Sam Mitchell was an analyst on a NBA TV show late at when Lonzo first got into the league. And Sam Mitchell went on rant about how Lonzo’s lack of defense was hurting the Lakers and that the Lakers should have kept Lou Williams for defensive leadership.
Lonzo was one of the best guard defenders as a rookie and was good on that end right away. Offense? Not so much. And Lou Williams… Anyway Sam Mitchell is an idiot.

Lonzo didn’t came in polished on defense. He put in the work at the end of his rookie season to his 2nd season.
He may have not been elite, but he came in very good on defense. I think like his 5th game was against John Wall where he was a defensive menace and it caught on. Also the Lakers were a top 10 defense for the first third of his rookie year entirely because of him and Randle switching everything. Once they started to get hurt, it fell apart.
He’s probably my least favourite part of the Raps’ TSN broadcast crew.
Honestly I have no idea why he’s celebrating, at least the Wizards coach had enough sense to double/triple Bam.

This is one of the main reasons I find Bam’s accomplishment less impressive than the 81. Kobe really needed to score those points to bring his team back and get the win.
No more people yelling at me 81 when trying to say Kobe is a GOAT candidate. Or at least if they do I can respond he couldn’t even score more than a defensive specialist center.
Or maybe… maybe…. We should see people put Bam in their top 5s of all time!
Kel’el Ware has Bam, Kobe, Ant and Wilt in his top 4. I’m guessing it means Ant is going to put an 80+ piece somewhat soon.

I mean 81 in that era was insane. I loved watching Bam last night but I’m not gonna act like it takes away from Kobe’s game.
