Fun coincidence to tonight’s historic game: The active record holder for most points scored in an NBA game (Bam Adebayo) is in a relationship with the WNBA’s record holder for most points scored (A’Ja Wilson)
Fun little coincidence for the basketball power couple. Bam obviously scored his career high and broke Kobe’s record of 81 with 83 points to become the holder of the second-most points scored by a player in an NBA. Most points ever if you’re one of those tin foil hat wearers that doesn’t believe Wilt actually scored 100.
WNBA MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, gold medalist and WNBA champion A’ja Wilson, on the other hand, holds the WNBA’s record for most points scored by a player ever with 53 points…sort of. It’s a tie with her and Liz Cambage but she is the most recent player to do so. Liz achieved this in 2018 against the New York’s Liberty (She also had 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 blocks) whereas A’ja did so against the Dream back in 2023 in a double-digit win where she put up 7 rebounds and 4 blocks with a +/- of +24.
