My point is that you’re caring too much about class and how the games dead when teams have been doing the same thing forever. The sport is an entertainment product first and foremost, and seeing a big scoring game like this is fun, regardless of how they got it.
It’s not new? Please find me another game where a team was up by 30 and intentionally fouling. Stat padding is one thing. Many players have a financial incentive because those statistical achievements are often a bonus to their existing contract. This isn’t that. This is going to roll downhill and snowball because now it’s open season for a starter to stay in the game to just start chunking up shots in garbage time. Someone’s gonna blow out an ACL and we’ll be reminded why responsible teams pull their starters in a blowout.
The last time a Miami sports team decided to be “classy” and not break a record, the sports gods didn’t look down on them fondly. Since deciding not to go for the record against the Buffalo Bills in 2023 the Dolphins star quarterback had his “3rd” career concussion and has now been traded from the team, and in all honesty should retire for his own health and safety. 2023 they go 11-6 and lose in the first round to KC. 2024 they go 8-9 and miss the playoffs. 2025 they went 7-10 and once again missed the playoffs

Yes the entire last 6 minutes of the 4th quarter was the most shamelful basketball I’ve ever seen. (But I loved it) The wizards doing everything in their power to stop Bam from passing Kobe(except they couldn’t stop fouling him) and the heat doing everything in there power to get Bam to pass Kobe. Including giving it to him full court tripped teamed 94 feet away because we knew if we passed it to anyone else they’d intentionally foul.
They did try fouling any other Heat player given the chance. They didn’t kill the shot clock because the Heat fouled them immediately to get possession back.
We were triple teaming Bam and fouling anyone not Bam that held the ball towards the end of the game.
