[Pincus] The Utah Jazz are expected to show significant interest in signing Austin Reaves.
On a recent episode of Buha’s Block, Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus discussed Reaves’ situation while breaking down the Lakers’ offseason outlook.
“I’ve heard that the Utah Jazz like Austin Reaves. I don’t think that’s a shock, but I’ve heard that that’s one of the teams that’s interested in Austin Reaves,” Pincus said.
Utah has been linked to Reaves as a potential target in free agency due to projected cap space, with the team carrying significant room after prioritizing expiring deals and younger talent.
Reports from earlier in the year suggested Utah could be among teams willing to offer a substantial contract if Reaves opts out of his current $14.9 million player option for 2026-27.

The Utah Jazz can make up to \(11M in cap space after renouncing all their cap holds (Jusuf Nurkic, Kevin Love, Elijah Harkless, and Oscar Tshiebwe) except the one belonging to Walker Kessler. They then have the salaries of John Konchar, Cody Williams and Brice Sensabaugh to offer Reaves a contract that begins at \)28M per season. A lowball offer, but better than nothing if Reaves has already decided to leave. Or, they also could offer Kessler in the sign-and-trade, but I doubt it since the Jazz value Kessler very highly.
