Fitz has always been very whiny when the Warriors are playing terribly but I don’t think he ever really enters into blatant homerism when clear evidence is show on the replays like this. He just gets whiny and complains about certain foul calls, non-calls on Steph, silly turnovers, etc… and he always had Jim Barnett ready to reel him when he would continue with his shit and Kelenna now is finally starting to counteract Fitz whining the way Barnett used to.
This is backwards. Nowadays Fitz is much better than he was in the Jim Barnett days (especially pre-Steph).
I agree, he was insanely more whiny when the Warriors were consistently terrible (just by sheer volume). The Championships have allowed him to give the opponents actual compliments instead his usual “Role Player X is having the game of his life!” “Bench Player #3 can’t miss a shot!”
And I wish I could remember a specific example of this but remember when he’d get argumentative with an obviously annoyed Jim Barnett while they were calling a game? I like Fitz now but it took time. I was pissed when Fitz took over from Greg Papa (a quarter century ago, lol).

Like, when Ja Morant had his gun violation, he got 5 games, and then when he had another (far tamer one), they gave him 25. They clearly are willing to up the severity of the punishment for repeat offenders in other ways.
Guys like Draymond and Dort continue to do reckless or downright dirty shit, but they seem to largely be protected by the basic flagrant rules. Like you know damn well Dort is cutting this shit out if it starts to cost him 3 game checks (and teammates and coaching staffs will hold him more accountable too).

The nba players union has to approve rule changes that affect pay, and they’ll never approve a rule change that allows the league broad discretionary ability to enforce suspensions. If they ever “enforce” this rule it will have to be done via a neutered rule change like the anti flopping policy… 2k and a free throw, no addition to your foul count.
It’s the same thing with the referees union. They don’t want the ability to meaningfully affect the outcome of the game either. They want to have the least responsibility and oversight possible.
