I agree on part of mythologizing him as a person. Of course, you should never expect anything good from an athlete (or any greater public figure for the matter) but the guy got away with rape and in the greater public sphere this hasn’t affected how he’s perceived at all.
Mainly sticking to basketball though, it insane that his Lakers at his peak won like 20 something playoff series against all 50+ win teams in the playoffs. He did not do it alone of course, had a great roster around him. But you’ve got to give him credit for his part, he was the centerpiece of those teams and a big part of leading them out of that hellish conference.
Tbh though, I think SGA is good enough to reach and challenge that greatness. You never know of course, but I don’t really see any red flags from him that would tell me otherwise.
