[Highlight] Aaron Gordon waits out of bounds for Nikola Jokic’s pass, and he times it perfectly to get under the rim and finish it with the reverse dunk (with a replay).
19 points for AG
Isn’t that illegal lol
Super illegal.
Straight to jail!
“He can do no wrong this quarter.” Dude just shot someone on 5th ave.
He was also still out when the ball hit his hands.
This. He didn’t establish himself as inbounds before touching the ball. Though the out of bounds penalty came first.
No he wasn’t. I slowed it down several times to make sure and he was inbounds.
His left foot hasnt landed on the court and he barely lifts his right foot off the line when he caught it. Its illegal
So he isn’t out of bounds then and you see it too. Lmao.
Also you are allowed to be out of bounds before touching the ground. You often see people doing that to save the ball from going out.
Lastly he is like out of bounds for like a second or two barely. In real life no referee is calling something like that. Yall are acting like he was hanging out in the out of bounds zone and just came into the game. He is an established player on the court and running like that during play is normal.
Do yall play ball in real life like wtf.
You see that with people jumping out of bounds to save the ball because they jump from inbounds, where they have already established themselves. When you start out of bounds, or go out of bounds at all, you need to establish yourself inbounds before touching the ball.
What are you watching? His foot is still out, and not only that, he needs to reestablish both feet in bounds before touching the ball - which he isn’t even close to doing
https://i.imgur.com/OaK6H5P.png
Hands on ball, right foot still planted out of bounds.
Yes. His right foot was still out of bounce when he touched the ball.
First time Aaron Gordon ever been out of bounce
It’s illegal to be out of bounds when you touch the ball, but not to be out of bounds
He wasn’t established? You can’t just do that
What are you talking about, he’s been in the league for years! Clearly established!
Not only not established, just straight standing on the line and plants his foot out of bounds to launch off of.
Well, he did.
como estas
You don’t have to establish it’s not the nfl. You have to be in bounds tho which he wasn’t
No it’s the NBA you’re right. You still have to get both feet in and planted before touching the ball
I remember learning on a different, similar play that one foot inbounds is enough, as long as the other one isn’t touching out of bounds.
Only need one foot in
I mean, you cannot do this lol
He catches the ball while his foot his out of bounds. I paused it at the exact moment and its clearly out of bounds. I really like both of these players so I’m not hating on them, it’s just what it is.
Doesn’t even matter, being mid-jump from out-of-bounds means he hasn’t established as in-bounds. This is a turnover regardless.
Re-establishing yourself is beside the point, you’re not supposed to be able to go out of bounds of your own accord. Like if a defender is planted on the baseline, an offensive player can’t go around him out of bounds. It’s never called though.

Tell that to Manu…
Edit: Found the rule this Manu* play violates.
Rule 10, Section II- Dribble, b.
“A player in control of a dribble who steps on or outside a boundary line, even though not touching the ball while on or outside that boundary line, shall not be allowed to return inbounds and continue his dribble. He may not even be the first player to touch the ball after he has re-established a position inbounds”
That’s accidentally going out of bounds. This is a different rule that’s not well known because it’s never called. I never really knew the rule when I was playing until a ref I was playing pickup with explained it to me.
This is from NBA.com: In the NBA, a player cannot intentionally leave the court for an unauthorized reason, such as to gain an advantage or avoid a violation. Doing so is a violation, and the penalty is a loss of ball possession, which is awarded to the opposing team.
Dang didn’t know this, good looks for pointing that out
Yeah, I was just explaining the rule the Manu play violates lol
Yep, one foot on the line, ball in hand.
times it perfectly
No the fuck he does not
I thought you couldn’t purposefully go out of bounds.
You can go out of bounds, you just have to be fully established as inbounds before catching it. If placed both feet down inbounds right before catching it would’ve been legal. As far as I know anyways.
You actually can’t. Look it up. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it called in the NBA though. It’s kinda like lane violations, it would have to be really egregious before it would get called.
You mean…like this?
I don’t know how bad it would have to be, clearly this wasn’t bad enough. Look at some of the crazy line violations you see every game. Guys running past the shooter while the ball is still in their hands. Some rules are low priority for some reason.
Oh, interesting. I guess that makes sense when you think about it.
You’re right. You have to established which he wasnt.
In the NBA, a player cannot intentionally leave the court for an unauthorized reason, such as to gain an advantage or avoid a violation. Doing so is a violation, and the penalty is a loss of ball possession, which is awarded to the opposing team.
Examples of intentional out-of-bounds violations include: An offensive player running out of bounds along the baseline to get an open look for a pass or to avoid a three-second violation. A player intentionally going out of bounds to avoid a screen. The penalty is a turnover, with the ball awarded to the opposing team at the nearest spot on the sideline. This rule is enforced to ensure fair play and prevent players from using the out-of-bounds area as an extension of the court to circumvent rules or gain an unfair advantage.

If placed both feet down inbounds right before catching it would’ve been legal.
You only need one foot in basketball (and nothing else touching out).
I mostly mean one can’t still be out of bounds like that
you are correct its only one foot to establish. but he went out of bounds voluntarily and that is a a turnover.
What the fuck Adam Silver you are supposed to rig this for us
Too bad I can’t post the screen capture, but on the replay from the baseline you can clearly see its not even a question of being established inbounds or not, his right toe is on the line as he catches the ball.
He’s clearly still out of bounds lol
This mf is my favorite thunder killer
lol what that was just a completely blown call by the ref. He needs to establish himself with two feet in bounds before receiving the ball.
not illegal if you’re beautiful as hell
I don’t know ALL the rules of basketball, and I love the nuggets, but even I had a feeling this was somewhat illegal
Refs have been pretty bad today
That shouldn’t count. Right? Did they change the rules?
Refs: 🤷♂️
Please stay healthy dog.
Glad hes back please gods protect him
lol was still out of bounds
Oh he is gonna go for the 50 burger tonight lol
Narrator: “Except he didn’t”
“times is perfectly”
Lmao op he jumped from out and caught it before landing.
Should have been a turnover.
that’s still out of bounda wtf
Baseline ref looked he was thinking about his mortgage rate or something. Totally missed the call there, forget establishing himself, he was still out!
It’s 50⁄50 whether he caught it out of bounds or not
https://i.imgur.com/hf5jqsY.jpeg
you’re so close
You have to be fully established in bounds after going out in order to possess the ball again. His foot even being potentially less than an inch off the ground doesn’t matter.
Hey buck buck, the mvp has 11 points on 5-6 fg and is making all kinds of great passes. Maybe post some of his highlights too
His mvp Deni isn’t playing rn what are you talking about
Talking about
Tanking about
Well for one this clip does have one of his passes, and two if you want different highlights do it yourself? Be the change you want in the world.
Some of them were posted by me, some were posted by other Redditor.
He didn’t “wait” out of bounds, he stepped out. It’s illegal, it should’ve been called. But it’s also pretty common for guys to run out of bounds along the baseline.
On the other hand, the Thunder have benefited from a lot of soft fouls, while Jamal was getting molested at the other end.
Oh so ignore what happens in the clip and focus on what you’re telling me to? Go it 👍😉
Yes. Watch the clip. Don’t ignore what happens.
AG commits a foul that should’ve been called, just like I said. But OP is wrong that the reason it’s a foul is because AG waited out of bounds. He did not. He maintained continuous motion for the entire time and did not “linger” out of bounds. The reason it’s a foul despite that is that off-ball offensive players are only allowed to step out of bounds if they return “immediately” which is to stay, they return in-bounds in an efficient and direct manner and if doing so doesn’t allow them to avoid a defender, gain better position, wait for a pass, or otherwise gain an advantage. That last bit is why it’s a foul. AG was pretty clearly moving out of bounds to either draw JWill away from Jokic or get himself space. Either way, he was using the out of bounds area to get an advantage. But he wasn’t “waiting”.
As you can clearly see in the clip.
Here’s the relevant rule:
