Someone like Tyler Herro is probably better at carrying the offensive load for a mediocre team but White is more impactful than most team’s best players as long as you don’t need him to fulfill that lead role.

You would be partially wrong, just on defense based metrics alone. SportsVU allows teams to collect all kinds of data not available to the public. This allows them to gage things from metrics we don’t even know exist. I doubt they have a universal metric to measure top players. I am however 100% sure they have ways that measure impact outside of counting stats that impact winning and losing.
