- eh, luka has only played like 111 more minutes than Shai.

- Also teams literally sell out to stop Luka scoring and get ball out of his hands immediately…..since Lakers suck (especially while reaves was injured those months).

I barely EVER see Shai doubled way past 3pt line… only ever sees help defense and doubles on his drives/midrange…and occasional blitz right on 3pt line.

Currently watching Knicks vs Thunder from other day..only checked 1st half

• In whole first quarter Ive counted him blitzed right at 3pt line twice, and twice lightly from logo range… (he passed the ball immediately three times.. held it and passed it a bit later other time)

• 2nd quarter: twice really lightly blitzed off a screen in deep three area. Once lightly right on 3pt line. ONCE heavy blitz off a screen around logo

Now comparing to knicks vs lakers for fairness from yesterday. (Also note… reaves is playing, I should choose a game without reaves to compare later too)

1st quarter:

• 2nd play of game HEAVY blitz on Luka from logo range.
• approx 2 plays later HEAVY blitz off screen at halfcourt.
• Next play, off a screen light double at 3pt line.
• Later, light double at 3pt line.
• Next play, was starting to get blitzed at halfway and luka passed to wide open Kennard at 3pt line.
• 2 plays later doubled at the logo bringing up on break.
• Later light double off screen at 3pt line.
• End of 1st, HEAVY double at halfway line

2nd quarter: Checks in late..

• First offense- Blitzed hard off screen in front of logo (deep three) (5:24 left)… ends up getting triple teamed
• at 4:26… HEAVY double right on 3pt line.
• 3:27 …. HEAVY blitzed at logo range off a screen
• 2:17… Light blitz off screen at 3pt line
• 1:29 … double holding ball at 3pt line

It’s because of the foul baiting and flopping and touch foul calls he constantly gets.

And to be clear I’m not trying to knock him or downplay him. The frustrating part is he is CLEARLY so incredibly special and talented. He could be putting up these numbers or damn close even without all of that.

But it’s also just how the game is played/called nowadays.

I think that’s a big reason people have trouble putting anyone over the OG Greats. Because the game is called so much softer now.

But yeah skill wise, he is unreal. Even though I get irritated with flopping and foul baiting, I cannot watch him and not think god damn this dude is unreal.
