Udokas biggest strength is yelling at players and getting them to play hard defense. I think players start tuning guys like that out after a while. Your coach can only call you a bitch so many times lol
I honestly think he was sorta important to have for the Celtics for that one year, but I’m so glad we immediately got Mazulla afterwards. It worked out super well.
Feels like he’s a good coach for a young core to set the right culture of toughness, and then has a pretty clear ceiling

I think Udoka is just not good at developing rosters. He knows what he needs and if he has it he can be successful. Rockets just needed a more flexible coach this year with the injuries and needing to incorporate young guys more into the fold.. that’s not Udokas strength. My rocket friends just seem a little tired of his one note coaching. I don’t think he’s done a bad job this year though. Just been a bad year for their team with injuries

Stevens basically took a step back from coaching and just became an elite gm. The celtics roster basically crumbled for 2 years before he became gm and he constantly improved a team with 2 maxes

Sure, but it’s fruit from the same tree. If you enforced coaches not being on the court then you’d eliminate any risk of a coach touching the ball.
It’s already a rule too, and one that is enforced pretty well at other levels.
