here’s how I feel: he’s MVP

He’ll finish 2nd or 3rd, which I’ll understand, but I’ll still hate it

It’s SGA’s to lose unless OKC collapses in the remaining games and the Spurs take the 1st seed. Then the voices for Wemby’s MVP case will be overwhelming.

He might end up being second in the finish but unfortunately its just not his year. Its ok.

I’m a wolves fan. I watch every game looking for impact/player growth to get us to a championship and I see Ant with his next level shot making and offensive gravity and Rudy with his defensive multiple-players-covered/giraffe ass self and then I see Wemby and I’m like wtf this motherfucker shows flashes of BOTH.

Normally coaches have to live with compromises and they structure lineups around their stars to cover their weaknesses. Wemby in like 3 years won’t have any. It’s a marvel to watch and as a basketball fan I can’t even be mad.

I know his offense is still a tier below SGA and Jokic, and defense counts less in the current era.

But his defensive impact is not just massively better than SGA and Jokic. It’s simply unreal, beyond anything we have seen in the league. It changes the on-court dynamic completely. And unlike offense, his defense is always there, in every minute he plays. That has to be factored in MVP conversations.

I think he should get MVP now. If the Spurs get the 1st seed over OKC I don’t see any good arguments against it.

Let me present my case:

Wemby

He’s definitely winning multiple throughout his career

I think he’s second behind Shai, and if they over take the one seed, he should be MVP. The guys impact on the game is undeniable.

Lowkey building a better case than Jokic this year. It’s still Shai right now unless he misses more games or the Thunder fall off hard, both of which are unlikely.

He is not that consistent so his averages are not as impressive as Shai, Jokic or Luka. But if he continues playing like this week and the spurs end up first or really close, I can see a scenario.

I would bet on him for next year, though.

Well he doesn’t flop as much as Floppy McShai

i think he’s overtaken or at least overtaking Jokic in the race, but Shai is almost unanimous atp. unless Spurs become the number & seed (also Wemby’s pra is a little underwhelming for the voters i think)

We live our mundane lives in obscurity and somehow feel lucky to watch another human do stuff.

I witnessed a lot of basketball stars going back to the 90’s. I’ve never considered it lucky to witness the current state of basketball and jokic compared to other eras.

Wemby’s in the “get people talking” phase. There will come a time to shut mouths. Give it a few months.

Top tier franchise gets a dude with all the natural talent in the world who also happens to be an outlier in terms of work ethic and drive to win… match made in heaven really.

Lot of teams can complain about Spurs lottery luck, the Rockets aren’t one of them. 2, 3, 4, 3 in 4 straight years.

Not just A #1 pick, he is THE #1 pick. There are maybe 5 players historically that you would rather take #1 over him and even then that might be too much

You guys could have gotten Castle, but decided to swing for the undersized guard.

You took Jalen Green, Jabari and Reed (and Amen but he’s not in the same category) with top 5 picks, at some point its on you for not doing more with those
