[Highlights] Jayson Tatum with the fadeaway jumper, the 3-pointer, the assist to White for the dunk, and back to back layups (with replays)
Dude looks like Jayson Tatum
Which is frankly ridiculous
Some might say he’s an anomaly
He kinda plays more like Paul Pierce now, using pure power to get through people at a bit slower pace. I really like it
That’s what I’ve wanted from him forever, like he might actually level up big time now. It was always like, dude you’re 6’10 in shoes and stronger than 90% of dudes in the league, just fucking shoot over them and bully them in the paint, but he would always do the Kobe stuff when he’s just built way better and taller than Kobe was.
Yup, same. The first thing I told my girlfriend after having a quiet day when he got injured was something along those lines - “hope he comes back slower and more powerful” because Chris Webber’s words from Open Court reverberate in my head that he played close to the ground and it forced him to become a better player
WTF he is absolutely not 6’10” in shoes 🤣
They meant laying down
It really is strange. It feels like this slower pace/patient style suits him really well
He looks slower
Yeah I know that’s not the popular thing to say, and hopefully it improves with time, but he’s definitely lacking some explosiveness right now. It could just be some rust or something mental, but the two finishes at the basket looked slow.
So basically he’s back to normal and it’s going to be like the most devastating basketball injury never happened to him. Crazy.
Bro is on his Captain America arc, they just thawed him from ice and he thought it was still the 2024 EC Semis
Thawed him out and he thought he was 19 again
2025 Eastern Semis lol
They beat the Cavs in the 2024 Semis
Ah, I thought you were referring to when he tore his achilles, which was the 2025 semis
And he’s as fresh as possible too. No wear and tear on him at all. Crazy work right now.
“Yeah, I’m thinking I’m back”
He is (humbly) one of the best players in the world
Bro I’d pick him over Edwards tbh
I think most people would pick a healthy Tatum
Replace humbly with arrogantly. Tatum gets too much disrespect
Besides playing for Celtics, I never understood why Tatum got so much hate. He’s corny sometimes but that’s all bad about him I can think of. He’s legit once in a lifetime talent.
It’s because he’s a top 5 player playing for the most hated franchise in the league. It is what it is, wouldn’t have it any other way.
I think Celtics are the most hated by virtue of the Lakers having the most fans.
Then every other fan base hates the Lakers
That plus every Atlantic team views the Celtics as rivals and Atlantic teams/cities are the most populated cities.
I think as of 2026 OKC probably has the C’s and Lakers beat at this point (but probably not for long)
Nah, people are definitely annoyed with OKC right now, but the hatred is definitely more for the Celtics.
Beside playing for the most hated team in the east, I don’t get why he gets hate
I don’t get why some fans go after players for saying they’re the best at what they do. These guys need that level of self-belief/confidence to perform at the highest level. It’s not corny/arrogance.
This man missed playing basketball lmao.
Jayson “John wick” Tatum
He is a man of focus, commitment, sheer will
12 points in the first quarter in his second game back. Dude is truly anomalous
Totes Anom
DomiTatum
Jesus Christ… that’s Jayson Tatum
wtf is this even real?
Achilles injury less than a year ago
Speed Bridge technique. Same procedure that allowed Aaron Rodgers to return to full practice after just 4 months. Revolutionized Achilles repair the same way torn ACL’s are no longer career enders
What is so different with this new surgery that made this possible? That’s an insane time difference lol
It’s less invasive which prevents scarring and the technique used to anchor the tendon in place (four points instead of one) allows for quicker healing and weight bearing
Newer studies also show getting the surgery within 24 hours before swelling sets in instead of waiting also cuts recovery time because it’s less time for the tendon to begin to atrophy
say that to the dude in r/bostonceltics who keeps saying that recovery should take longer because that’s the way it was like a decade ago
The future is now old man
Tatum already balling in his second game
He was balling in his first one
Brown about to put him in the alien category as well.
The pass to White was elite
Top fye
Looks like Tatum. Kind of surprised, thought he would have the yips through at least the first few games. However, it looks like mentally he wasn’t at all affected, and I love to see it. Too many players would’ve been so affected by that injury on some level, and some even long term if not permanently
uhm that was fast????
League fucked, he’s so back
NYK round 2 rematch. Inject that into my veins
we’re fucked
Why he look like he never got hurt
So happy for Tatum. Hopefully Hali comes back and looks as good
I hope so too that Pacers team last year was some of the most fun I’ve had watching basketball in a long time
We are so back
Commentating has been sloppy. “Another 3 for Tatum”
JT for threeeeeeeee is so much better
No I mean that was his first 3
Jaaay Teee for threeeeeeee
White is appreciating the gravity already.
Me on Friday: I’ve learned to never bet against Jayson Tatum when it comes to his health and injuries
And people had the gall to think I was CRAZY SMH
I’m not even playing and I’m scared whenever he stops on a dime with that injury 😬
As an OKC and Celtics hater I am not gonna enjoy this years Finals
Modern medicine, y’all. Tatum seems to have a little less lift with that leg, but he’s compensating extremely well for it.
It’s only game 2 as well. He’ll get more back as time goes on, I would suspect
Jayson “Modern Medicine” Tatum
I need a fully healthy Celtics v Thunder finals. The last 2 champions battling it out for a second
Boston about to win a championship
Oh, so they’re winning the chip
He still doesn’t have that last burst but hes still tall AF, can shoot and dribble well so he’s still a very good player
The Celtics held up so well without Tatum that now with him back, they have a legitimate chance at a title run this year
He looks a bit slower (heavy legs?) but if he gets his touch back, he has enough postup skills and gravity to be a high impact player and scorer.
His conditioning isn’t good enough yet and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s holding back some burst (which would explain coming up short on his first dunk attempt on Friday)
THE ANOMALY
That three point form was ray Allen-esque
His jumper looks quicker and smoother than before
Why the fuck does Boston get so many breaks with sports man. Can’t they just be bad for a while?
Their best player tore his Achilles and you’re saying they get breaks? Huh
Back to back nights shooting 37%. Tatum is back like he never left🔥
If a team wins the championship, even with poor shooting, your comment loses the plot
You can tell he still doesn’t all of his lift yet on those layups
Unfortunately overcompensation of other body parts is how injuries happen.
Let’s hope he wasn’t rushed back
Wow you’re the first person to think of this, they definitely didn’t take muscular imbalance into account, let the medical staff know!
Yeah because players rushing back and getting hurt again has never happened before, unheard of!
What type of medicine do you practice?
Seems pretty fine probably just still adjusting to the nba game speed and trying to fully trust his body i doubt they rushed him back. It is also his second game back btw
Yep. The reality is that if he’s playing actual NBA games. Then he’s probably been doing full practices, 3 on 3, 5 on 5 stuff for like 2 months minimum maybe even like 3 or 4.
I totally understand why 95% of us were suspicious that he’d actually come back this year. I was too. But at a certain point he’s either healthy or he isn’t. There’s not really any healing to 110% that’s just not how it works. So he’s clearly “healed” and either at the point where he’s as 100% as he could be. Or perhaps he’s at some 80-90% where they actually need him to play to continue to heal by strengthening his body (idk not a doctor).
Regardless, here we are. With a JT that looks himself and all of a sudden a pretty good Celtics team might have just become a very good to great Celtics team. East is actually way more interesting and deep than we first thought.
Pistons, C’s, Cavs, Knicks all will like there chances to make the ECF, Hornets, Sixers, Raptors it might be a season too early but it wouldn’t be the biggest shock ever, Magic & Hawks it won’t happen for this year but on paper both teams have a bright-ish future. Plus the lurking Pacers team next year and beyond. East might actually beat the allegations and be a properly deep and interesting conference
As long as he has stable two foot jumps I thinks that’s safer he’s still strong going to the basket. I’ll assume the quick footed layups won’t happen that much unless he’s wide open.
