Dennis Schröder to Cade Cunningham on 2⁄27: “Nah, don’t talk to me now… You got the MVP chants and now you ain’t answering the phone no more huh? I got you though.”

I was about to write a similar comment, people on this sub are addicted to negativity
Sometimes makes you think instead of a subreddit for people who love basketball, you’ve wandered into a subreddit for people who hate basketball players.
The hater/stan back and forth was always gonna get worse as the sub grew, but the combo of the nba cracking down on highlight vid creators and mods removing pretty much every compelling oc analysis means that’s basically all we have left. Sucks!
most people here are too afraid to play pickup at the Y
People who use Reddit this much don’t have the social skills required to understand this
It’s the internet in general.
Redditors in general are allergic to human interaction. They don’t understand that not everything said irl is meant to start an argument chain. Many are wondering why Dennis forgot to end his rant by saying Cade must have voted for Trump.
Because most redditors don’t have friends.
What?? The social media that brags the most about being anti-social and their disgust of people?? Blasphemy!
Also most people don’t actually do anything but read the headline and the comment can come off much colder over text.
I don’t want friends! That’s why I got you guys!
When you remember how many people on reddit don’t understand social cues.
Hes German tho. They dont laugh at anything but pain an suffering
The Cade, The.

ITT: redditors not understanding
you could’ve just stopped there.
Least shocking revelation.
Redditors dont understand social cues? color me shocked
Yeah at the same time didn’t people say the same shit about Luka and Dennis, that it was just trash talk.
“My main goal is to blow up and act like ion know nobody”
Miss that from 90s ball. Lot of love hate back then, made it a nice soap opera. But then again, players usually stayed with one team longer that made the rivalries extra spicy
Haha yep I’m polite to people I don’t know but when I see my best friends I haven’t seen let the shit talking commence 😂 Bro you a bitch!
People on reddit don’t have friends come on
In any thread really
Bringing in Schroeder was such a smart move. It also makes the Harden for DG trade make even more sense. DS and Ellis for Hunter?
What a fucking move for us.
Kings all time dumb franchise. Just awful asset mismanagement - let’s trade 2 underpaid productive players for 1 overpaid not productive player.
ATL was so excited to get off Hunter, but damn if we could have had Keon Ellis and round 2 Schroeder instead….
The only one that doesn’t make sense to include in the trade was Ellis but what were they going to do with Dennis? The season was already a wash so they got something back for him and took a chance on hunter. Without Ellis it actually makes perfect sense as they weren’t doing anything anyways so taking a chance on hunter maybe playing better and flipping or keeping him wasn’t dumb
I’m going to reject the premise that Schroder is underpaid.
You’re welcome to that opinion but he’s statistically a top-5 backup PG in the league which at $15m/year is a great deal in 2026
He was a free agent this offseason and nobody offered him shit but sac lol.
Ain’t nobody had cap space this offseason so that doesn’t say much.
But true, in the second apron era a backup PG over 30 is no longer a great contract for that money, even if playing well.
It’s a bad contract, which is why they had to attach Keon Ellis to get off of it. He’s a really nice fit for Cleveland, and he’s a good backup guard especially for a team wanting to contend, but none of that changes the fact that his contract was a stupid overpay by the Kings.
I like him, smarty crafty guard. But just looking at stats, some games it does look like he disappears. Playing a good amount of minutes, and some games he is scoring less than five points a game. 2, 4, 3, stuff like that. What is that lol. So yeah good move off his contract by the Kings. DH was picked top 5 for a reason. You keep him healthy/motivated, and then you got yourself a player
His motivation and health isn’t an issue, he’s a lockdown defender and hustle player that can run the offense while your starting pg sits. He was core to the lakers WCF run a few years back
I was actually rooting for the Kings a few years ago when they put together a couple good seasons and things were looking up. Always sorta liked them since they got fucked over by the Kobe/Shaq Lakers.
Honestly I still don’t understand how they folded so fast and sudden. I was bummed about it though
We were actually good the year after the Beam Team, 3rd in the West at the All-Star break, but big injuries to Monk (our bench leader), Huerter (most important spacer, the injury has actually completely derailed his career), and Fox (knee injury, lingured after he returned) basically killed all the momentum.
They played horribly down the stretch, fell into the play-in, won their first game to eliminate the Warriors, and then matched up against the Zion-less Pelicans. The Pels were their kryptonite that year (went 0-6 against them). You could tell that even the team didn’t believe they could win that game, the score was 105-98 but they were never really close, they were down 20 before bringing it back, and the body language was terrible all game.
Fox threatened to leave if they didn’t make a big move in free agency. Those moves were signing DeRozan to an oversized deal and re-signing Fox’s BFF and college roommate to an (at the time) discount.
Both those moves failed the next season, the team started off poorly, Fox made some very…. choice comments about the team, the Kings went on a huge loss streak, Mike Brown was fired, Fox suddenly acted like the Kings had wronged him with the Brown firing and started to practically throw games, he publically requested a trade while also saying he would only sign with one team (the Spurs), the Kings sold low to bring in LaVine, and here we are today.
There we go, a (relatively) short history of how they folded so fast.
And if it sounds like I’m salty about Fox, I’m not, that’s just what happened. He left in a pretty terrible way but at the same time I don’t really blame him. The team was going nowhere with or without him
I don’t understand why Dennis bounces around so much. I liked him in Toronto and kinda wish he was still with the team tbh
it’s because he’s legitimately valuable and someone that GMs will appropriately account for in trades. He’s a pest and he’s a solid player all around, there’s no front office that doesn’t count him as a piece when offered.
Very deep bag too. I like Dennis a lot
he also doesn‘t shrink in playoffs like most role players
he‘s the fckin mvp for germany
I thought that way too, then he was on the Celtics and I understood why he bounces around. I was glad to see him gone
Yeah this. Basically, he has a great contract from a cap perspective
I remember George Hill talked about this back in the day. He wasn’t good enough for teams to want him long term, but he was good enough for another team to try to acquire him to fill a role
He’s not good enough to be untouchable, but he’s good enough to plug-and-play for a team that needs a solid backup PG.
He’s not good enough to be an invaluable asset, but good enough to be a valuable asset.
He single-handedly won us a couple of games when our team couldn’t play basketball before we traded him. Thought he was such a winning player.
I don’t think he gets along with anyone. Dude is an endless string of interpersonal conflicts, including when playing on his own national team. That, plus that he’s in that golden $10-20m range that teams love to use as trade-pieces and for plugging roster holes. So when trade talks come along, and someone brings up Dennis, and it’s like, anyone wanna speak up for Dennis? Crickets.
This is terrible analysis
I loved Schroeder on the Celtics too, he’s a genuinely good player who gets clowned too hard because of the contract thing.
What a fucking move man. I’m so jealous of that Ellis snag man
Just wait till the playoffs, harden always shows his ass in the worst possible way
The good thing about the trade is that Harden on this team isn’t asked to score a bunch, so even if he disappears, as long as he throws an entry pass to Allen or Mobley it’s manageable. Tyson, Merrill and Strus can all go off from 3 too
Cavs !!! I’m a grizz fan and have had to defend your moves to my friends at the deadline. I thought it put Cavs #1 in the easy no question…… then Tatum came back
Schroeder proved why he bounced around so much in like 20 games in sac. Was getting healthy scratches and tried to fight Luka? He speedran his way out of rotation and was just a weird dude all around here.
The celtics went belt to ass without vuc and a 75% Tatum
Acting like Schroder is a winning player lol
haven’t heard of FIBA Dennis yet?
when has he ever done anything in the NBA? a few decent games but I was glad when he was in the game for the cavs he was terrible
Schroeder was the best player on the Pistons in last year’s playoffs. Dude deserves some respect
Replacing him with Lavert is malpractice
When will GM’s learn
As long as they learn after making their terrible trades that benefit my team.
Dumars has blessed us twice, I hope he never learns.
LeVert is a better player than Schroeder. Taller, younger, shoots less, doesn’t crowd out Daniss because he plays a different position. Schroeder had the best run of his career during he playoffs last year and that was awesome, it he’s not that guy every day.
Mayyyyybe in theory, but Levert is an absolute black hole for our offense. The numbers with him on/off are staggering. Dude barely deserves to be in the league this season
levert is one of those “good on paper” guys who pops off every now and then but schroder is actually good
fitting username
Answer the fucking phone, Cade!
They have BEEN not respecting Dude in this league! I don’t know why either…. Wild
lol cmon dude no he wasn’t
you’re just trying to hate on Cade because you’re a Knicks/Brunson fan
He probably wasn’t their best player, that’s a stretch. But the point stands that he was one of their most impactful players in the minutes that he played.
Shame he didn’t want to stay
What did you guys offer him?
Same as he got in Sacramento, but Sacramento promised him a starting position, which they gave to Westbrook 1 month into the season.
Damn lol
Ouch
Hard to feel bad for the guy tbh, he does it to himself. He even went on social media and cried victim how “Detroit didn’t want him” when it’s absolutely delusional to think at 31 years old the Pistons were going to give him starting position ahead of a guy that was trending up and just finished 7th in MVP voting.
Fans loved him and he just goes and brings in drama when we want to win a championship, miss me with that lol.
At least he’s on the Cavs now though. They’re looking good.
He’s a really good back up, just not the guy you want as starting PG for a contender. It’s getting him to buy into being the backup that is the problem. In the Pistons games against the Cavs he was what gave us the ability to get back into those games because he tries to be the guy.
I’d say it’s fair to say he rose to the occasion more than others. That’s how I would characterize it. But we’re good. We have Caris Lavert lmao 😂
True, end of game though he always felt like the guy making big plays. Obviously Cade has improved leaps and bounds since then
Nah Cade shot 18% from 3 on 4.7 3pa in a six game series where multiple games were close and came down to the wire. Schroeder def played better than him in that series.
What a stupid thing to say. Cam Payne was better than Brunson, OG and Bridges that series too then right? I mean he shot better from 3, which is apparently all that matters.
Sounds good except Cade took 4.7 3s per game to 1.2 for Cam Payne. Cade averaged 41.3 mpg to Cam Payne’s 8.9mpg.
Cade was on the floor for majority of the game so his poor shooting from 3 was extremely detrimental to team succes in terms of spacing.
If this guy shot even 30% from 3 which is way below league average they would’ve pulled out more wins. Cam Payne didn’t play enough minutes to have nearly the impact either way lol
Yeah Cade was carrying the entire team on his back getting hacked nonstop, so I’m glad you pointed out how much he played. They wouldn’t have been in a single game without him.
Not sure why I’m bothering responding to trolls, you guys are going to get dog walked by the pistons if they meet this year.
Which is why you’re such a hater.
another knicks/brunson fan
next!
Cade shot 18% from 3 in a six game series where multiple games came down to the wire. Schroder was more impactful and a better player in that series, Cade has a higher upside and can carry a franchise
jaylen brown is a more impactful player than Jayson Tatum and they’d be better off trading Tatum and building around Brown right now
His short tenure with the Raps impressed me, game where he was legit our best player dude is a dawg
Schroder is a bit of a dick but hes been one of the most consistent non mvp level players in the league for a while. I mean he was part of the reason the okc rebuild wasnt complete torture, he held that team together before shai took the reins.
Easily one of the worst takes I’ve ever seen lol
What an idiotic take lol
Seems like a jealous jerk
Bro been traded so many times, he prolly ain’t got the right phone number 😂
I think I read that he’s had over 200 teammates or something.
Uncle Jeff Green still the GOAT.
https://www.theringer.com/2023/06/06/nba/six-degrees-of-jeff-green-denver-nuggets-2023-nba-finals
Remembering Jeff Green has a ring always brings a smile to my face.
He knew eventually his time would come and boy did it. Couldn’t have happened to a better journeyman.
He’s on the way to be the GOAT traded player, passing Ish in Franchises played and teammates over uncle Jeff
Shroder be like new team who dis?
At this point he probably gets the coaches confused.
“Quit calling me Coach Vogel, he’s not even a head coach anymore!”
He was fiercely yelling at Bickerstaff in the first game back in Detroit after he got traded. In my mind, he forgot about the trade for a second and still thought he was his coach lol
Bros bouta need an international calling plan. Ol Beijing Ducks ahh.
Dude’s on pace to beat the most NBA teams played on record.
Definitely a record, someone always wants him so it’s still something.
Definitely doesn’t have the address
We need him to get on every team before he retires
Dennis has become underrated
Always has been lol his athleticism is crazy and he’s plug in play as fuck
Plug and play
Not for Kerr lol
I’m convinced he was a plant on the warriors
I miss him on the Hawks and the Lakers.
That’s tuff. 💯
He wluld single handedly change the outcome of a lot of Laker games, if we could have kept Caruso and still got Dennis we’d have been a fucking nightmare for teams to face.
His fake dribble out spin to attack the basket is legendary, he’s quick enough to pull off a load of inbound plays and on top of that he’s a FIFA MVP the guy knows when it’s time to step up and hit the clutch baskets.
Don’t understand at all why everyone is so quick to get him off teams, maybe it’s the German sense of humour or his view towards woman but if you don’t know him personally the dude drips aura
It’s like modern slavery
Lmaoo this quote will never die
Indecipherable basically
In exchange for millions of dollars and fame
first time ive heard him speak, he sounds like he says a lot of shit he doesnt understand lol
doesnt mean that the case obviously, but given the slavery comment his voice is too perfect for that
Yeah ur right bro he sounds so stupid and out of breath… like hes been running around or something
I meant the cadence not the breathlessness
he’s not a native english speaker.
So am I lol, whats the point?
cadence
Dennis seems like a guy that all his old teammates (which has to be in the hundreds by now) love him. I know him and Scottie have been caught joking around in a couple games after his time on the Raps
Damn he was on the Raptors??
D-Town!
In respect don’t answer a 313 number
Pick up the phone baby…… I know you home baby
Schröder has been one of the best locker room guys in the league for years and this is exactly the kind of trash talk that makes the NBA fun, you know they’re going to be talking back and forth if the Cavs and Pistons meet in the playoffs.
Has he been? I’ve heard Teague say Dennis told him that the gm projected Dennis to replace him. Pretty dick thing to tell a teammate imo.
Kings stay terrorists. Fuck you Sacramento for taking him away from us
After getting spanked by the spurs then losing to the Cavs, he’s out of the conversation for MVP respectfully
I mean the pistons would’ve loved to have you if you didn’t sign with the most terrorist franchise in the league
But instead you chose slavery over a team that could’ve given you home
They offered him a starting position
NBA players are more interested in each other and strippers. I wish I was them.
MMP chats
Haha 🤣 was good teammates
I honestly thought he would have an Arnold accent.
Dennis knew he was Mic’d up, so he was trying to put some extra sauce in what he was saying
Dennis must have cast some kind of spell on the Pistons using German black magic.
Bro sounds like diddy when Justin Bieber stopped hanging with him
Truth hurts. Dennis
Bro is the prince of journeymen I deadass forgot he played for the pistons
Aint nobody tryna see a Dennis Schroeder posts after dude put up a whopping 2 points and 2 assists in 20 minutes today. Dude had more after game instagram posts than in game stats, Fuck that trash ass boi.
Should’ve signed the contract
“Look at me, I’m the captain now “

Pretty sure he was serious.
I can’t tell if he’s being serious here honestly
He’s definitely joking. You harass your friends when they get a promotion/ move up.
Idk how there could be people, aside from the children in the sub, who haven’t experienced this from both sides.
I gave you my snack pack!
I’ve seen this type of shit go both ways. Some people are happy for you some people are jealous
I’m not even joking. Are you autistic? In what world is he serious?
Kindly fuck off
“Nah, don’t talk to me now… You got the MVP chants and now you ain’t answering the phone no more huh? I got you though.”
Even if you take away the audio that’s obviously in jest. But did you watch the video? They are obviously being friendly.
[deleted]
you’ve never shit talked friends ?
Gotta be a reason this guy doesn’t stay anywhere for long…
I think part of it is he is just good enough to be desirable while at the same time being “expendable”.
He’s also a fairly plug-and-play asset.
When teams want to make trades, they look around for guys that are “tradable”. He’s just a tradable guy, it doesn’t mean the teams hate him or anything.
The teams that aquire him usually utilize him immediately.
Gotta be a reason this guy is picked by so many teams…
Because he turned down his best offer
He had the chance. He turned it down and than the CBA kinda did him in as well.
He’s a very good backup guard but he always wants to start somewhere, he signed with the kings this year specifically because he would start
Because he’s too good to not play, but not good enough to be a core peice for a contender.
This obviously is only one thing but Jeff Teague said that Dennis used to show him the texts between him and the GM where the GM was telling him he was going to be better than Teague and take his job. Teague chalked it up to him being young and foreign which is fair but also definitely a strange thing to do to a vet teammate.
I’d take it as a teammate letting another teammate know, “Hey man, between us, don’t always trust the GM and what he says to you. This is what he’s saying to me.”
Ya but that’s a totally different conversation than the ones Teague was talking about
Real talk, my theory is that he’s just really annoying
My theory also, which is probably the real reason Cade ain’t picking up the phone
Y’all can’t even understand basic banter and sarcasm… what kind of sad lifes do you live?
Both of them are so unlikable
But hey, they can meet up in Cancun this season after they are both eliminated in the playoffs.
What is unlikable about Cade?
Sign me the fuck up, I want all the dawgs we can get.
