[Highlight] Yu Chang takes Hyun-jin Ryu deep for the lead!
Original post calling them Taiwan got deleted in milliseconds lmao
Stephen Nelson said TAIWAN loud and proud during the dugout celebration, legendary.
Half the people at the Tokyo dome are wearing stuff with Taiwan on it
Yeah I’m surprised the broadcast just zooms in on those signs lol. But then I’m sure the announcers are trained to only say Chinese Taipei. All of this is so stupid
Pathetic mods
Damn they even deleted this guys account
Sportswashing is equally funny as it is sad
I don’t get why MLB cares, it’s not like they need to appeal to China.
I don’t get why Reddit moderators are appealing to either MLB or China.
An Excuse for power tripping is an excuse for power tripping for Reddit mods.
CCP-fellating tankies are infamous for infiltrating subreddit mod teams
Edit: wow the self report blocked me, tbh thats pretty standard tankie behavior
Hard to believe there was a time that “tankie” actually had a very specific meaning that was only applicable in hyper-online leftist infighting and a short decade later it is just used casually like this. They really should have bullied Trots harder.
Long story short, Taiwan is the rump state of the Republic of China and the Chinese Civil War is technically still ongoing which means it isn’t recognized as an independent state but rather as a competing government with a claim over China. ‘Chinese Taipei’ is an agreement China and Taiwan came to so the latter could participate in international events without claiming to be China or as independent from China… Ipso facto, tournament organizers go with that

This and the song the crowd sang right after with the echo of the tokyo dome gave me literal chills. My goodness this tournament is SO GOOD.
I agree. I’m so engaged with the crowd cheers. I’m trying to write a paper, but get pulled back in every time they sing. Everyone cares so much
Yu Chang in the WBC
WBC legend 🫡
This dude rakes every WBC
What a whiplash it’s been for Taiwanese fans lol
YU BANG
Taiwan has showed up after Chinese Taipei stunk in the first game
The country of Taiwan takes the lead!
winnie the pooh punching holes in drywall xD xD xD
I’m so sad he couldn’t hack it in the MLB he’s awesome
If he really wanted to, he would be on an MLB team. He got paid more to stay at home basically. And getting traded like 3 times a year probably isn’t fun.
I don’t know what the market would be for Chang given he really only has a few weeks of decent play in the last like six years. Fun player to watch in the spring but he really isn’t that good when compared to the rest of the league.

TAIWAN #1
The hype in Taiwan for this tournament has been incredible. On March 5, even though the game was on a weekday in the middle of the day, the stadium was completely sold out for Taiwan’s game.
A big reason for this is that Taiwan won the 2024 WBSC Premier12 after defeating Japan national baseball team, which basically caused a massive surge in baseball popularity there. It turned into a huge national celebration. When the team returned home, their charter flight was even escorted by F-16 Fighting Falcon jets, and there was a big parade involving the Presidential Office Building.
Considering that baseball in Taiwan was nearly on the verge of collapse a little over a decade ago because of major match-fixing scandals, I really hope Taiwan makes it to the final round in this tournament and that the baseball boom there continues. ⚾
That wasn’t even a bad pitch, he just went down there and got it.
Doesn’t China object to the use of the red Taiwan flags in the stands for international events? I thought that wasn’t allowed?
Its events they participate in. Like the Olympics its out right banned. This does not involve them in any capacity so they have zero say.
NOOOO NOOOOOO
Spring traing legend Yu Cheng Chang

Is all of Taiwan at the ballpark? Damn!
