Jaylen Brown on the happiness he felt to see Jayson Tatum return
So thankful that my team has had JB and JT going on for a decade, hope they retire as Celtics
You have it good ,magic f it up when choosing zo insted of JT
Celtics had the #1 that year and wouldn’t have traded down to 3 if they thought Philly or LA wanted Tatum.
Fultz and Lonzo were the consensus #1 and #2 picks, let’s not re-write history. Just about every GM would’ve made the same picks.
The celtics had the first pick and traded down…
Yea because they wanted JT, not Fultz or Lonzo. Danny figured he could get value out of the #1 pick while still getting their guy.
Yes my point being that obviously not every GM thought the same as the consensus and wouldve made the same picks
You really thought you were doing something with that huh?
They successful challenged your point, that’s what they did.
They did not..it’s concerning that you think they did?
Celtics were the only ones that preferred Tatum to the others, so acting like other GMs fumbled when the consensus rankings from everyone else was Fultz/Lonzo > Tatum is silly and rewriting history.
You guys are slow af
All this comment does is give me satisfaction . Thank you very much
Yes, what’s your point? They were about the only team that wanted Tatum the most and gambled. Doesn’t mean that every other GM somehow was on the same page.
There’s no need to rewrite history when it’s well reported that Ainge was always going to draft Tatum. He traded down because he knew the Lakers and the Sixers weren’t.
That’s the point isn’t it? The consensus was Fultz/Lonzo at 1 and 2, that’s why Danny was able to trade back to still get the guy he wanted and an extra pick in the process
Perhaps I misunderstood their comment but I read it as them not realizing the Celtics had the top pick prior to drafting down. Therefore them saying any other GM would’ve made the same picks sounds like they’re saying if the Celtics had the first pick they would’ve drafted Lonzo or Fultz
You did misunderstand
I see that based off your other comments now. However I still think saying “ Fultz and Lonzo were the consensus #1 and #2 picks, let’s not re-write history. Just about every GM would’ve made the same picks.” makes it sound like what I understood.
It doesn’t, the Celts were the only ones that seemed higher on Tatum and there was 0 buzz or leaks that anyone else saw him above Fultz and Lonzo. In fact Josh Jackson was pretty frequently mocked above Tatum too.
Yeah I know, but that wasn’t my point. It’s all good, we are on the same page haha
Now why would they make that gamble if they weren’t confident that all other GMs were going to go Fultz and Lonzo above the guy they really wanted?
I obviously meant all others besides Ainge…
A lot of people were uncertain about Tatum at the time too. Most people had Josh Jackson going third.
i wonder how Nets fans feel knowing they coulda had both of them
I hope those guys who are cooking up “JB is jealous of JT/JB needs to be the alpha” narratives are paying attention.
He’s shown nothing but brotherhood for JT over the years.
They probably downvoted once they realized this was a positive message
They grew up together. Been playing together for almost 9 years now. They might not be BFFs off the court, but when you’ve gone into battle with a teammate for that long you become brothers.
It’s incredibly clear nowadays that they share a close bond and a ton of respect for each other, even if they have different personalities.
It’s actually been legitimately amazing that they have each been able to carve their own paths even as they played side-by-side. Says a ton about both of them.
It’s such a blatant self-report whenever anyone has something to say about their dynamic or their relationship because the respect they have had for each other is so evident if you go like an inch deeper than ESPN talk shows.
I always thought it was commendable that they made the decision early on to pretty much never comment on that kind of noise.
I’m not even a Celtics fan and I remember, pre-championship, the media was trying so hard to say that Tatum and Brown couldn’t be the 1-2 of a championship team for all these different reasons.
Thought they were crazy then, still think they are now. It was an awful take and the most obvious “media tries to pit 2 stars against each other” type deal I’ve seen in a while.
Every report or story about trying to break up/cause discord between the Jays has always been outside noise.
People just can’t seem to process that two elite wings can play together on the same team and be successful
Sounds fake to me. What’s he going to say ? Oh yeah I’m pissed JT is back and taking my stardom.
Makes more sense than the narrative some you weirdos make up in your heads.
I fuckin love this team man
Doesn’t this guy know he’s supposed to be upset about losing touches. SMH guys actually like winning instead of playing into narratives.
As a certified hater, not gonna lie, i wanted so bad for drama when JT came back to the team JB carried in his absence.
But i guess this wholesome shit is nice too.
The two most humble superstars in the league.
There’s a few loud obnoxious assholes that this sub loves but there’s also plenty of guys like these two who aren’t.
Damn they really hate each other huh?/s
I can’t believe the talking points of “but who’s gonna be the main guy?!” Is happen still even after a chip and overall success in the playoffs.
Fuck man, I want to hate the Celtics so bad but JB and JT are making it reeeeeeally hard…
Okay, Plug 1. We hear ya.
Don’t worry, I gave you an upvote.
They don’t see the vision (or know ish about De La Soul) obviously 😂😂😂
