I know playoffs are a different game, I know we most likely will get exposed in a bad matchup against a 3-6 seed, I know this year was just a stepping stone to show progress and gain playoff experience….

This team, young as they are, have a LONG ASS WAY to get to The Beautiful Game. And I am all for watching them fail and succeed.

Spurs could go to the Finals or be bounced in the first round depending on matchup. If the Lakers fall to 7th, they’re chilling. Suns and Clippers would be a war, but ultimately I think they’d be able to pull it out. The Warriors seem to have their number though, and come second round, I’d hope for their sake that they don’t draw Minnesota. But if they can get the Rockets? Very beatable. And in a 7 game set against OKC, all bets would be off
I’m 50⁄50 on the warriors. On one hand they have beaten us 2⁄3 times but they need Curry to go out and get 50 to do that. Idk with no Butler too I think we can survive the Curry onslaught and make it out in 6.
Those two Warriors losses were also in the first dozen games of the season.
Spurs are a completely different team now. They were 8-4 at the time early in the season and are 19-4 over their last 23.
Obviously, Curry can win a game on his own, but I’m not nearly as worried about the Warriors beating the Spurs as I would be Draymond cheap shotting and injuring a player if the Warriors were down bad.
This ☝️☝️☝️. The team has matured tremendously. It will still be a hard fought series but Spurs have solidified their defensive schemes and playing team defense and offense .
Butler is a massive loss. And can Curry be a sky fucker for 20+ games to lead them to a title? Absolutely not. But could he do it for one series? I think it’s still possible (and I’m over him and don’t want that, believe me)
It’s definitely a different matchup now, but the Warriors still had SAS on the ropes in the game before the break before the Spurs caught fire late

People are sleeping on the Spurs. I’m not buying the experience argument for them quite yet.
I think the Spurs offense will suffer, that’s the side of the ball for them that’s prone to error the most. But with a healthy Wemby in the paint, I don’t see how they can ever be in a horrible spot defensively. Experienced or not. If the team the Spurs are playing are cold from three, the Spurs are almost always at an advantage because of Wemby’s paint presence.
There really is no bad matchup for the Spurs in the west honestly. The only teams that can target the Spurs’ weaknesses are teams that can routinely put up elite three point numbers, and huge bigs that tire out Wemby. Most of that happens in the East. I think any series the Spurs are in on the western conference are a toss up or favorable.

Haha I don’t go cheer for teams just because they are winning. I’m always drawn to teams with strong culture and who play teamball over isoball. Low ego players. Having a few European players is a big plus too. Spurs check all the boxes.

I’m 22, so I grew up watching the Beautiful Game Spurs; they were my first exposure to basketball. I will always, no matter who comes and goes off the roster, have a rooting interest in the Spurs because of those years. Not to be cliche, but they just play the game the right way. And they always will so long as a Pop disciple, or a disciple of a Pop disciple, is at the helm. I was so pumped that they won the 2024 lottery, and am so thrilled for their success

They are young and dynamic, over-sized, rebounding PGs that are still on their rookie contracts and developing… They have time to get right and other shooters on the team

Spurs, but mostly Pop has always been very supportive of players who want to get the bag if they have a better deal somewhere else. Pop is no longer there, but I don’t think that is going to change any time soon.

I doubt Champaigne, Vassel, nor Fox will be on the Spurs if Harper and Castle develop into long-term pieces for the Spurs during extension talks.
Fox is extended for four years, but he’s a valuable trade piece in a couple years.
