Lots of these games have been very close through five or six innings, they just look bad by the final score
US-Brazil, DR-Nicaragua, and Mexico-Great Britain were all closer than they had any right to be.
Puerto Rico-Colombia, Cuba-Panama, and Australia-Taiwan all had their moments too.
Even if some games ended in blowouts because teams don’t have bullpen depth, the tournament is off to a good start.

God I fucking love the WBC. I’ve enjoyed most of the games thus far. Im loving the crowds, especially Taiwan’s and Japan’s crowds. But most Especially the Taiwanese fans because they SHOWED UP, musical instruments and chants and all flying to Tokyo to support their team.
I was skeptical when it first started in the early 2000’s; but when they held the games in the west coast, I tried to go to every single game and had an absolute BLAST. I hope one day they host it at the west coast again. I went to the games at Dodger’s, Angel’s, and Petco (at the time it was brand spanking new); and I felt baseball was represented so so well with incredible games at these BEAUTIFUL ballparks.

Nah. He has good hands for contact, but he tends to swing at balls too much. Kim Do yeong, Jung Hoo Lee, Ahn Hyun Min all had higher WRC+s in KBO than Kim’s peak in KBO. He’s more of a contact, speed, defense guy.
I feel like, consistently, hyeseong is good at getting on base. so maybe the 9 spot is a nice place for him to lead up to the 1 and 2 hitters to get him home?

This game was awesome to watch as I was getting ready for work this morning.
Japan won this game and extended their streak to 11 straight wins against South Korea! Korean baseball used to be really strong, but in recent years the gap in ability between Japan and Korea has become pretty serious, and Korea hasn’t managed to beat Japan at all over the past decade. ⚾
