Kidd was my favorite player back then, used to watch every game I could when he was on the Nets. My first ever NBA game in person was J Kidd on the Suns at the Nuggets. It was the season J-Kidd had his bleached blonde hair. And yes, I feel old

J-Kidd was a legend and severely underrated. There was a time when he was legitimately giving Tim Duncan, Shaq and KG a run for their money in the MVP race.

I went to college with Jason Kidd 😭

I went to a bunch of Nets games in the early 2000s, and IMHO Kidd was a top 5 player in the league in those days. Ok, it was the Leastern Conference, but along with fellow “stars” Richard Jefferson and Kenyon Martin, he dragged a bunch of bench players to the finals 2 years in a row, and was a game 7 away from doing it 3 years in a row. Maybe the biggest floor raiser I’ve ever seen. Dirk was great, but it’s still kind of amazing that he and Kidd beat the Heatles in 2011.

The only real sad part is that he easily could have. Back in the day even if you wanted to watch somebody’s highlights, you had to tune in to a program at a certain time on a cable network (not everybody had cable, it was a treat) to mayyyybe see highlights of players you liked.

Like, I know he was born in late 2006. Flagg may very well not have a single memory of having watched Kidd play in real-time.

What does make me feel old is incoming NBA talent isn’t old enough to have memories of Jason Kidd playing in real-time. I remember watching him play in his rookie season. When he got a (hilarious) ROTY award with Grant Hill.
