First Time Crafting and Lost Everything
You don’t want to perfect exalt annul spam for loads two bolts, you want to chaos spam. That’s far cheaper. Don’t use whittling until the crossbow is nearly finished. If you care about crit the crossbow is a significantly harder craft. What you have currently isn’t worth 3k div. It’s about 500 div. If you don’t get a suffix you want you have to yolo annul and then chaos spam again. Omens are more expensive this league so you want to limit their usage and use more currency instead.
We should all find a new word for “crafting” in this game.
It is not crafting.
It is gambling. … so perhaps … Crambling? Gamfting?
It’s a mirage of crafting, so mifting?
When I was 28 i started milfing….best sex ever…I’m 44 now and think those were the best yes if my life
I knew this comment was cuming.
Key steps are not even close to being deterministic, i never thought of this as “crafting” myself. But i get it, it’s a loot whoring ARPG, not Horizons/Istaria, and the company is literally Grinding Gear Games. Fortunately trade is in, add you can get useable gear
I genuinely wonder what people who say this expect crafting to be.
Just a deterministic way to craft perfect rare gear from the ground up for fairly affordable? Then maxing out a character becomes a formality, ground loot only matters for bases, and without currency and material sinks the market will quickly get ridiculous, and only really be alive on risky modification like Sanctify/Corrupt, and top-end uniques.
Or do you want crafting materials to be more powerful/reliable? Then they would need to be more rare and expensive, and many players will never be able to interact with it, like is the case with mirrors and locks atm.
Which ARPG did crafting well and without “gambling” in your opinion? What made it more than gambling with a currency sink?
Personally i’d want crafting to be more of a way to reliably finish items that are already close to perfect, or make solid items “very good”. This requires much more focus on good ground loot and its tier system imo, as well as a way to influence the type of gear that drops like with the PoE 1 Genesis tree drops (for SSF mainly, but also so players can adjust for the market demand in trade).
I also find memory strands (random value on ground loot that boosts crafts, but diminishes with each craft, meaning a limited amount of crafting attempts will be more reliable and potent) interesting as they are working similar to Last Epoch Crafting Potential. I think Tiered loot + Memory Strands might be a good way forward for PoE 2.
Crafting would mean that at least 60%-70% of the outcome is skill based and deterministic.
At the moment, even if I am generous, at best 5% is “Skill” by simply knowing the best order to improve probability. It like lottery with a system.
This game can gladly keep its gambling for all the addicts, but we also ideally should have a purely deterministic path, ideally based on gameplay time and progress.
One idea example:
You can find realm gate shards for entering a “Path to success”. Imagine it simply as a mini-atlas of just 3 waypoints.
On the first starting point you have to give it one uncorrupted T16 map with max mods and the item you want to have the new mod you are aiming for on.
Lets say you want “x% increased speed” on the boots you have.
- If they are not yet at max mods then that would just get added - If they are already at max mods you can simply select which one to replace - The tier of this could still be RNG, but not low tier.
Now when you activate this the item gets locked away and you have to complete all five waypoints to get your item back with the mod set as specified.
If you die the run ends and the item is lost.
Each waypoint runs the same map you set at the beginning, but with the following changes:
1st: Just the map as-is 2nd: +1 to monster level 3rd: Waystone gets corrupted
And finally you get to the custom boss of this encounter. Defeating this guy drops the item you set and with the mod you specified.
The three maps DO NOT provide gold, currency or item drops. Only XP is gained.
You cannot teleport out unless you want to end the run - which would lose the item, shards and waystone invested.
-—————————————————————————–
Looking at how much playtime would have to be invested to purposefully craft a full item with this method make me regard it as a viable alternative to the orb spamming. And the risk involved also feels pretty solid for the payout.
I most certainly would find a purposeful and directionally clear goal to achieve much better.
That’s actually a really cool idea; i did not expect this. Nice!
You aimed far too high for budget, is the issue. Sorry bud.
Pm me and I can shoot you some divine. I transferred to mirage league. And the couple k i plan to offer you I can make back in temple.
Not doing give away, anyone but op will be ignored. No matter the story.
If I don’t respond op, just sleeping.
Any tips on making bank?
Build out your temple. That’s how he said he’d make the divs back.
This.
Early season was omen of light farming and crafting, but now it’s just been temple. Lol
Also, OP got 2k div back. Hoping he learned his lesson on crafting methods within his budget 😂
Alright thanks. Been dreadng it but might just go through it
Build up a base currency and always craft what you are willing to lose.
Start with recombine crafting, u can get 3 mods for 15% success for any item. T1+T3 on base, and a good T5 mod on donor.
Recombine like 10 at a time and sell them for consistent low level profit, (throw perf exalts and desecrate obviously) then from there go to chaos spamming / sanctifying and trying to get better than T1 stuff.
You needed more currency, but if you’re aiming for the triple phys prefixes, then you want to fracture hybrid phys%/accuracy because it’s the same ilvl as t1 flat fire, cold, lightning, and ele dmg% with attacks. It also sets you up for a better overroll sanctify with t1 phys% being not-fractured. Then you’d chaos spam for t1 phys%, which it is only one of the two ilvl 82 prefix mods on crossbows. You’d then do one of two things: Slam a 3rd prefix and whittle until you get t1 flat phys, or desecrate the prefix for t1 flat phys (cheaper and safer option but then it leaves your suffixes without a desecration option). From there you’d slam the suffixes and whittle until you get what you want. +2 bolts is the only ilvl 82 suffix, and +7 proj skills is the only ilvl 81 suffix. So you’d just whittle + perfect chaos until you got both, then whittle the last suffix of your desire, using dextral erasure when needed.
I think the guide you were using assumes 1-2 mirrors worth of currency. In the end you’d have something that is worth +3 mirrors.
Currently I go the following steps:
It’s not perfect. You will miss out on 1-2 level I think. One suffix may be undesired.
It’s way cheaper, though. I get something good enough with <200 divs
How is this? Is there a decent way to remove the reduced attribute requirements without praying? Or in this case do I Suffix whittle or Suffix desecrate?

you currently have 2 suffixes, right? Use omen of dextral annulment to annul one suffix. either it hits attribute requirements or if not use the essence with the omen to target suffix only
edit: should be omen of dextral crystallisation

Just crafted this one that way. base was 400 divs. Crafting costs were in this case less than 50 divs. there are t2 and t3 modifiers, but it’s good enough that it gave me a significant upgrade
I have 3. 2 bolts, and now +5 attack skills and reduced Attribute requirements. Guessing I just need to pray that whatever I do doesn’t hit loads 2 bolts.
Yeah don’t dextral annul, just use Perfect essence of haste. If it hits +5 levels go back to to perfect essence of battle. You end up with a 50⁄50. Getting loads two bolts isn’t as rare as what you are acting when just chaos spamming. You should only be a suffix when going for +5% crit. Keep in mind if you are going for 5% crit It will cost you 3k div on average. You get perfect essence of battle on by attempting to add a prefix, and when it is inevitably a bad one, you use perfect essence of battle in combination with a sinistral crystallization.
Keep in mind to be in a better position than where you are currently at it only costs 40 div. It’s certainly not the end of the world if you don’t hit decreased attribute requirements with your perfect essence of haste.
welcome to POE :D sometimes, its better to buy those items than crafting.
Tip: don’t. Unless you’re willing to pay the price. I learned crafting this season for no reason other than to make a bow better than fubguns. I ended up crafting a SLIGHTLY better bow and it cost me like 10 mirrors.
Did you use any essences?
I didn’t, but I was going for T1 flat Phys so an essence wouldn’t help there. Obviously would use the Perfect Essence of Battle for the +lvl attack skills, but unsure of when to do that during the craft.
3k is nowhere close to enough for this kind of craft, you will need a mirror minimum ( or more if Ur unlucky) to craft a perfect item( which is what it seems you are going for)
So mirroring one would be cheaper
For the way I personally craft desecrating should be your last step. I try to hit the prefixes first. Chaos slam until you hit something good. Add 3rd prefix using omen of sinistral exaltation. If it doesn’t hit anything good I’ll anuul and hope it doesn’t remove the good mod. If it does back to chaos spamming and repeat. When you have your prefixes add 2 suffixes. Hopefully hit something good, if not you can add your essences with dextral crystallisation onen. Desecrate your 3rd suffix for what you want
Also if you hit a good suffix while chaos spamming double slam prefixes, then again anuul and pray.
Appreciate all of the advice!! Trust me when I say I’ll be way more prepared next time I try to craft something, and will certainly start less ambitiously.
The cheat code to wealth in PoE2 is knowing what and how to craft with exalt level budgets, then single div, then double digit divs, then triple digit, all the way to the type of craft you wanted to make, which requires at least a few mirrors (mathematically up to 4 mirrors even if only moderately unlucky). You have to learn the previous budgets first or you will never have enough currency for the top tier crafts and don’t rush it - - unfinished items are a net loss which can take a looong time to recover from
Well you get the attack skills now before anything else. If you want onslaught you also do that now
