[Dalzell] Hugo Gonzalez said he sits next to Jayson Tatum on the team plane and that he’s been able to talk to him about a lot of different things: “He’s been an example for everybody here”
Our current franchise star giving wisdom to our next franchise star.
Amen, it honestly explains so much that he’s been sitting next to Tatum. Dude has improved so much this season, especially on defense.
Hugo had an interview earlier in the season with Drafteados (spanish NBA youtube channel) and said he sit there by accident. Thought because Horford wasnt on the team he was having both seats for himself. And after a while JT sit with him. Its a really cool interview if you guys know spanish, maybe they even have captions
Gonzo should be assigned as Tatums squire, learn everything he can from him.
Egg looks more like Walsh.
Maybe Garza or Aaron Baynes for Ser Dunk? Theis?
Boston is in good hands when it comes to the Gonzos
Yes but also there’s a ton of Derrick in him - hard on himself, when he messes up he races back and often gets the ball back
Imagine being Hugo, what better NBA mentor and role model could you have? Michael Jordan Walsh has JB and Hugo has JT. I hope they know how lucky they are!
Is Tatum like… the perfect guy? What else doesn’t he do? Best player on a championship team. Great father. Great mentor and teammate. Great son. Chief Basketball Officer at Duke. Inspirational story of coming back from injury. Like… what else?
But on TV, he’s accused of being corny and boring. It’s like the world needs guys who are flamboyant trash talkers stirring up shit. That’s all everyone gravitates toward.
“Corny” is rivals trying to make not having a gun charge or 12 baby mamas into a bad thing.
Imo he’s basically the perfect model of what you’d want in a franchise player. He’s obsessed with winning and being great, and he definitely cares more about that than individual accolades or numbers. He can do basically anything you need on the basketball court at an elite level, and he’s willing to do the dirty work on both ends of the floor that a lot of other stars won’t do.
Then on top of all that, he’s like the least controversial off the court player ever. Literally has no scandal of any kind, and he seems to really care about being a good father and son. By all accounts he’s an amazing teammate and has never made any locker room drama. The only thing people ever call him out for is being corny, but imo that’s just because he’s authentic, and I think authenticity is a dying attribute in among people in media and entertainment.
Smart kid
loving that sweatshirt
I found it!! link to sweatshirt Also available on the team site
god dammit, i’m not giving michael rubin a penny
I’m so impressed that Tatum has been to almost every game and been on every trip!! (Crossing sports), Belichick would not allow injured guys on the sideline during games, which I never understood. If a veteran can see stuff and help the coaches mentor the young talent, it’s such an advantage for the team!! It says a lot of good things about Tatum that he voluntarily took on the role of mentor this year!!
Wouldn’t it be amazing if he turned out to be the heir to Tatum and Browns throne?
If anyone wants the sweatshirt, here you go!! Also available on the team site
Hearing a 20 year old rookie talk about a 19 year old who’s been in the league for 9 years is wild
