I don’t watch Celtics games much (only whenever they play the Thunder or Knicks), so a genuine question as someone from the outside looking in but how do you think Tatum will be reintegrated into the offense? Watching Boston this season they seem to have found some hidden gems in Scheirmann and Hugo, some huge hustle guys that are always crashing boards and getting extra possessions, but I’m wondering if Tatum coming back may limit their minutes or straight up make them fall out of the rotation. Also adding a guy like Tatums calibre will obviously eat into Brown’s usage, who’s been having an MVP like year.

Hes technically within protocol to come back as its usually a 9-12 months range after surgery. Basically everything that could go right after the injury happened so it greatly helped accelerate the rehab. Hes still very you, it happened in the same city where THE Achilles repair guy works, got the surgery in less than 24 hours (possibly done it in 12), and has a world class training staff to help him rehab.

Chemistry is a legit concern though. Team changed a lot in just pure personnel since he last played. Some guys who played the whole year are in a groove and now things change with basically another key addition to the team. I obviously dont think they’re going straight to “Tatum is the guy” but trying to get him back into game shape while in a playoff push will be a delicate balance.

It’s a valid question and concern, but literally only Tatum & his doctors know how true medical status (and 9-12 months is an expected return which would be now), and rarely is adding someone of Tatum’s caliber to an already good team a bad thing, so… ignore the noise

Oh I 100% agree that if he’s ready to play, he should play. I guess I’m just thinking about the mental aspect of things. We know that the media and the internet gives no grace and if JT has a slow ramp up for the last 20ish games and doesn’t perform well in the playoffs, the discourse around him as a player and coming back “early” can just get ugly

So tbh this fast recovery isn’t entirely unexpected, especially when you factor in that he is a bit younger than most players with Achilles tears in the past
