Giannis receives a tech as he throws the basketball in frustration after Dyson Daniel’s put back layup
This dude is miserable.
Has had multiple chances to leave
I believe Giannis does want to stay in Milwaukee. But I also believe he wants to compete. Pick a side and stick with it.
Giannis pushing the team into desperate moves every off-season is a big part of them not being close to contention.
No team can hand out 30m contracts every year, nor can they make massive 4-5 pick trades every year.
Lillard and Turner were desperation moves that backfired. The coaching upheavals didn’t help either.
Very similar to the 2018 Cavs with LeBron threatening to leave every off-season.
The Bucks haven’t been able to sell high on players because they can’t be seen taking a step backwards, and they can’t buy low on anyone because they’re being pushed into desperate acquisitions.
Sometimes you have to let management do their jobs.
This seems like revisionist history. Kyrie forced his way out right before the 2018 Cavs season
Yeah the Cavs were good enough to contend for years with Literally just Bron and Kyrie.
The Warriors dynasty was simply way too good
Yea threatening to leave every off season? 2015 and 2016 he obv didn’t wanna leave, 2017 they were defending champs and still had Kyrie so he was fine, then Kyrie leaves and LeBron prob pressured them to make moves and it didn’t work so he immediately left in 2018 off season lol tf is dude talkin about
I’m pretty sure he’s just running a narrative honestly. I’m a Cavs fan so I heard all that same shit every single year we had Bron. Using one year contracts and moves at the trade deadline as evidence.
Without context, you can sell most narratives. In a few years they’ll say Mitchell kept threatening to leave and that’s why we sent out Garland.
Kyrie forced his way out in the midst of LeBron’s upcoming FA and threats to leave. At the time he requested out, there were rumours he was simply trying to escape a sinking ship and didn’t want to be left with the post-LeBron Cavs.
LeBron was also signing short-term deals so he could exert more leverage over the team and there were rumours he had a foot out the door.
Plus, the team had hit a ceiling because they’d overpaid role players, which had coincided with a previous LeBron’s 2014 FA negotiations. The “TT+ Shump + Nets pick” meme came from the Cavaliers having bloated contracts that nobody wanted, contracts that had been handed out during that time.
Here’s David Griffin in 2018 saying exactly what I said:
“When LeBron is on a one-year contract every year, you don’t get to be sustainable, you don’t get to be Danny Ainge. You don’t get to play that game, those aren’t the cards you’re being dealt. You have to win right now and put (LeBron) in a position and a frame of mind where he belives he’s going to win in the future. Everything that happens because he’s on one-year deals for the absolute maximum amount of money is an unsustainable formula. So to some degree, he puts himself in that situation as well. I think he appreciates that because it’s what gives him to ability to make make Cleveland do what they did (at the trade deadline). He doesn’t care if Cleveland has nothing left if he walks. He cares that Cleveland believes in him enough to invest in him.”
It’s not revisionist history. It’s just history.
I mean sure it’s history if you’re using the owner’s opinion as fact. That team went to the finals over and over again, and while they did have a couple bad contracts, that was not their ceiling. Their ceiling was the KD warriors.
You’re not entirely wrong, but you’re absolutely leaving out key context for everything you’re saying.
And you’re bringing up 8 year old unsubstantiated rumors as part of your argument too. It was a rumor 8 years ago, so it seems even less relevant now. I
Why do you think Kyrie forced his way out lmao
he threatened to get surgery if he wasn’t traded immediately
Lucky for us, this is once again an 8 year old roomer being used as evidence. Lucky for us, Kyrie has been asked this question lots of times. There’s no way to know for sure, but here’s his reason.
Also a reminder that the Cavs still went to the finals without him that year.

I mean I don’t disagree with your thesis, but Lillard definitely wasn’t a pure “desperation” move. I mean some people might have had foresight about that duo, but I remember a lot of talk about them running the league together.
I think the Lillard move was great at the time. The idea of a Giannis-Dame PnR was so good on paper with Dame’s insane range and Giannis downhill pressure. The problem was 1. Doc Rivers 2. He got injured.
Waiving and stretching his supermax contract is actually a fireable offense. Is cutting Dame and signing Myles Turner the win-now move? You can’t go more all-in after you go all-in. Just crazy stuff in the Bucks front office.
I feel like they hardly ran the pnr with them 2, don’t think Giannis wanted to be a screener
The Dame-Gianni’s PnR more sounded good when you didn’t think about it too much than looked that great on paper.
One thing we can always agree on. Doc Rivers.
No. It was terrible trade. Jrue Holiday was their defensive safe net at perimeter that held their defense together. Because of him, they were able to switch everything and used him to defend opposing forwards. They felt comfortable playing him on Durant 1 on 1. That’s how elite that dude was on defense.
Lillard was declining for 2 years prior to a trade, people just weren’t ready to accept it.
He was traded after having 33-49 record with Blazers and only playing 58 games.
Year prior they had 27-55 record and he only played 29 games.
Lillard at his best was laughably bad defender. By the time he got to Bucks he lost agility and speed and burst. What was left was basically poor man’s Lavine. It was very clear from gates that he lost ability to beat people 1 on 1 and couldn’t pass by anybody. Speed was simply gone. He in past generated around 30% of shots at point blank range due dribble penetration. On Bucks? 19% and 16%.
How he compensated for it? By taking 23% of all shots from short mid range.. By far most in his career and by far least effective shot in basketball.
Entire “but but pick&roll” stuff is overblown. They couldn’t run pick&roll because Lillard couldn’t even beat centers off dribble any more and Giannis without acceleration , upon catch, 15 feet from rim won’t do anything with ball anyway. People either sag off him and wall him up, or attack ball and force him to pick up a dribble.
Pick&roll without guard’s ability to penetrate and roller’s ability to shoot never works because it’s way too predictable. One will stop and pop and other will try to go all the way. If i know it, defenses know it as well.
Bucks went from 4th best defense with Jrue to 19th with Lillard. Good luck winning games with defensive rating similar to 30 wins team.
Brother…. They were 30-13 with Griffin as their coach. Lilliard and Giannis did not get enough games together to get a sample size especially in the playoffs because they won around 63 percent of their games when playing together. I am certain that if Griffin remains the coach, the record would have been even better for those two playing together. Not saying Jrue wasn’t a bad loss because it was but for whenever I saw the Giannis/Lillard pairing play together, I just wished we got to see them in the playoffs when they were both healthy. It’s a snake bit duo just like the Nets trio of Harden-KD-Kyrie.
This is the right take.
On top of it, we’ve had chances at good coaches but Giannis wanted Adrian Griffin and Doc.
Lillard wasn’t really desperation. I think most Bucks fans thought it was a good move. Oops. Thats why we aren’t GMs, but that one felt like just weird injuries derailing us. We had a lot of those during prime Giannis and Khris years pre and during Dame.
I think we might have won if COVID hadn’t hit. Maybe we’d have two rings. Idk who knows.
I just want Giannis to be happy because it sucks watching our goofy boy like this. Either settle in for the long run and be happy being home and see how things shake out in two years with more conservative long term moves, or peace out. Bucks fans won’t hold shit against Giannis if he leaves. We will if he keeps dragging it out though.
The issue is the Bucks org. They need to pick a side and stick with it. It’s their final say. Blow it up fully, lose games, get good pick. Or get rid of doc, and try to see if magic can happen in playoffs. Not this in between shit. It’s worst case for Giannis, worst case for the Bucks, and worst case for the die hard Bucks fans.
No
That’s crazy the message I’ve gotten is that what he actually wants is just to be venerated by Milwaukee and the fanbase. He’s been ready to go for some time but is too chickenshit to say it outright
[deleted]
Sponsored by Kalshi
He doesn’t want to stay, he just doesn’t want to have a legacy like KD
Absolutely nothing similar between those situations. Like at all.
Unless he has burners
Even if he has burners, Giannis was able to get the job done in the city that drafted him instead of joining another powerhouse
I legit feel like he’s gone this offseason but maybe thats just me.
Once teams have access to more picks in the offseason, I think the available return packages will be too hard to resist and the Bucks and Giannis agree to a trade. One more multiweek stretch of absolutely miserable play even with Giannis in the lineup might be enough for this FO to have a come to Jesus moment.
He doesn’t want to be the guy who forced his way out, he made his whole brand about loyalty. But now the Bucks are completely uncompetitive and he’s frustrated.
In salary restricted league making 1/3rd of a team’s salary will do that to ya boy.
It’s hilarious how people view him or any player on supermax as “loyal”. They are bribed to be “loyal” and nobody else wants to make a trade for them ( case and point- Anthony Davis to Wizards out of all teams ) because they are near impossible to trade for, and if you do, your team is bound for mediocrity because there is no enough money to build team around them.
Giannis self-branded himself as “loyal” and it wasn’t problem to be loyal when things were good. Everybody swears to be loyal when everything is great. Loyality is earned through dark times.
That’s why you don’t say “ i do, forever” to anybody but 1 person you marry. Not your job. Not even your kids or parents.
He backed himself into a corner nobody asked him to back.
I feel like you should say it to your kids but yeah
Kids are born with egos, character traits and develop into people molded by parents, society and friends and relationships they develop. They aren’t and shouldn’t be copies of you and your partner. essentially, you don’t choose your parents nor your kids choose you. I don’t need to be “loyal” to my kids, i just need to make sure they grow up with food to eat and critical mind to make life decisions based on what’s best for them. Rest of their lives is on them.
Regardless.
Giannis wants to leave but doesn’t want to say it loud. It’s abusive relationship as he pushed them in this position (by demanding stuff over and over again). And now Bucks can’t build him anything tnx to wrong decisions from past, and he is unhappy.
Goddam I’m glad you aren’t my parent lol. Sheesh. The MJ meme shouldn’t apply to your own kids.
He put himself in a box when he said, I’m paraphrasing, “I’m not like other superstars who leave and join up, I wanna beat them”. If he were to leave, casual fans would hate on him than they did KD.
Lillard sung the same song and people still love him.
Dame is literally a prime example of “grass isn’t always greener”.
I still think that’s played a part in all of this with Giannis’ mixed signals.
Because he’s back with Portland and also is recovering from a torn ACL.
People will treat it like Bulls/Cavs D Wade and try and pretend it never happened.
*torn achilles
Except Giannis won a championship already with his home team. KD left before he did.
Bucks fans are NOT hating him if he leaves, and I’m sure that’s what he cares about.
Never more than KD, unless Giannis joined the Thunder or Celtics.
Who the hell would blame Gianiss? He’s won a championship there despite a pretty weak effort from the FO to support him. If anyone looks bad out of all this, it’s the Bucks as a franchise.
“Legends don’t chase, they attract” and the the gambling partnership announcement is what makes him look bad. No blames him for wanting to move on. It’s the mixed messages and poor body language that looks bad. Play or sit on the bench quietly and say the PR friendly answer while you force your way out behind the scenes. Fans understand it’s a business and that these guys are human but man do they invite the drama a lot of times.
No they wouldn’t… He got A ring
That Kalshi check was too good
Hes just waiting for LeBron to join GS next year. Its so obvious
And? Players should be encouraged to be loyal
it would’ve been for the best of both the bucks and giannis to have traded him years ago
this game of chicken both sides are playing only harms both sides (bucks can’t do the necessary rebuild they need to do and giannis gets older and doesn’t get to compete)
Nah he just had the over on techs on Kalshi
What having doc rivers as a coach do to you
All bucks are
He chose the max contracts so I don’t know why he would be miserable?
Good
Boo hoo, maybe he should stop worrying about optics and make a decision to leave
there are still bucks fans in here that will tell you that is a fake rumor made up by espn
“BOX OUT” - my YMCA coach when I was a kid
It amazes me how often I see NBA players pay no attention to boxing out. Absolutely amazing.
You mean like all 400% of the Bucks in this video?
I failed math…
I ran suicides for less in High School.
Other than a colossal team fuck up once, my worst punishment was when I ended up with 250 pushups for peeling into the parking lot a little fast.
The league is chock full of players with no fundamentals. Just athleticism and shooting
It’s funny how much that’s drilled into you coming up in basketball but in the pros there’s literally just one or two players on the floor on each team who even think about doing that. The rest just ball watch and hope their athleticism will win out.
I love how he called for the ball just so he could spike it lmaoo
This is the equivalent of me slamming my mouse during a zoom meeting
2nd best help desk ticket my company ever received : “Due to a fit of rage, my mouse no longer works.”
OK, what’s the best
A cease and desist email that we got because a contractor was pirating porn.
At least pay for it and support the artists
That’s a unique one for sure
Going to get your mouse, plugging it into your laptop, then slamming it
Especially when he didn’t box anyone out either.
Yeah, that was really on him. He rotated over to the far side, which on a corner shot is where you want to be. Except, he already had a teammate standing there and boxed him out instead of the guy crashing the board from the middle.
The ol’ Patrick Beverley.
I hope he never leaves, hate doin this song and dance every year
If that happens, every year the warriors are going to go all in on Gianni’s, and every year the bucks will toss some winks and kisses, only to get ghosted at the last minute, leaving them with subpar trade options and disgruntled players.
It’s hard to be a guy thats super angry in a shirt that says cream city
Lmaoo
Such a bad jersey, what were they thinking?
LOL it’s like his first couple games back. The vibes in Milwaukee are absolutely rotten.
He does this to himself. Dude is miserable but won’t leave.
the vibes actually seemed like they were improving before giannis came back
I think this roster is out on giannis or at the very least holds alot of that drama he caused very much against him. And honestly I cant blame them for it
i probably would be like that if i was one of the other guys on the team. which is funny because it’s giannis himself that’s giving off the bad vibes
He’s showing the type of garbage leader he actually is. When everything is going good, u got Jrue Holiday and Middleton in their prime, he’s all fun, motivating, humble and happy. But when shit goes wrong he creates drama, plays with the media which I’m sure affects his teammates, is one foot in one foot out but acts like he’s 2 feet in but really he’s 1.5 feet out he just doesn’t have the balls to demand a trade, and he just wines and moans about the team and not winning
He gives off the I would leave you if I can find someone better vibes.
lol fr toxic ass mfer
Stop booing these people they’re right lol
I think whole rumor situation was a betting scam. Its crazy to me he got away
i think he just wants to leave the team because they suck and he wants to win
So why the fuck didn’t he? He had plenty of chances
idk man but he pretty clearly tried to get himself traded this season
yeah i think that has more to do with his desire to be loved in milwaukee and preservation of his image than it does with betting sponsors
Is that what we are seeing here? The desire to be loved?
He is a jackass.
The team is more uncomfortable with Giannis. They play scared around him. He’s let the team down from a leadership standpoint this year, after being a phenomenal leader for years. Sucks.
it makes me question whether he was actually leading or if people like lopez and middleton were the real leaders. giannis seems a little too hollywood for that role, but it’s clear he wants to at least be seen as a leader
The Bucks have been rotting since Jimmy Haslam joined the ownership group as a minority owner.
Former Browns fan here so I know and that’s why I’m a former fan now who gives Haslam shit every chance I can on Reddit.
Ah yes, the Doc Rivers special
Not sure why Giannis is boxing out Ous instead of Dyson
This was his fault and he knows it.
Bucks were actually playing better without him for some bizzare reason.
4 losses in a row by +20, and he’s only played in two of those games. They’re playing terrible regardless.
They were 8-2
KPJ was the biggest reason for the 8-2 stretch and he was out tn. Last game Doc DNP’d Kuzma for some stupid reason. We haven’t had a game yet of our full core but it’s too late anyways
Also, Cam needs to be played way more. Why did they get him if he sits?
I know. I watched every game. Only decent team they beat was the Heat. OKC had a bunch of injuries, so did the Cavs so don’t give me that shit.
this happens often when guys come back from injuries, like Jokic recently for example. takes a while for the guy & the team to get into rhythm, especially when the team developed its own pretty successful rhythm with different players in the injured guys absence.
this is why i’m skeptical of Boston fans thinkin Tatum is gonna come back and just all of a sudden be the second coming of Christ who levitates the Celts from really good to elite great. it could be that, but i’d be shocked if that happens immediately & consistently, and i’m not even sure it’ll happen come playoff time. there’s a real risk of putting him back out there where the team could start sucking and he could injure himself again to try to force something that isn’t there when his body really isn’t truly 100%. that said, i still wanna see it lol. one way or another it’ll be entertaining for sure.
Nobody on the team has drive. Best defender and rebounder is probably Jericho Sims right now. Giannis gotta lead by example, too many times I’ve seen this shit from him, Bobby and Turner all season.
Rebounder ya, but Jericho has a lot of work on D. For how high he can jump his interior D is incredibly mediocre
I mean what is he pissed about though? He is the closest player to Dyson yet he is boxing out…no one?
Think he was frustrated with himself tbh
Thought that was obvious as well.
Well this is a shit on Giannis thread so obviously no one was going to suggest that.
He didn’t bet on a Dyson Daniels putback
Ahem, actualllyyyyy prediction markets aren’t betting 🤓
At least he didn’t throw it AT Daniels, he needs to study up on his Bane tape.
Basically Adam Driver punching the wall in that one scene with Scarlett Johansson.
I legitimately believe he wants to compete here, but the team is not competitive, and he’s going to have to be the bad guy and force his way out eventually.
This organization is pathetic.
I’m so sick of this. They tried everything they fucking could. It just didn’t work. They’re not pathetic. Injuries murdered this team’s multiple title window.
Injuries hurt for sure, but the fact that Doc is still the coach is the big indictment to which I’m referring.
Honestly Giannis pushed some really suspect roster and coaching moves in general and it’s now biting him which suck but it’s life
Not hitting on their draft picks or moves on the margins hurts way worse.
Our draft picks have not been great but any of them with a shred of potential have been traded away for Giannis bait. Theres no trust in development; its be ready now or get traded. Also, why the fuck did we sign Myles Turner? He creates some space for Giannis and that’s about it. Him and Dame kind of crippled this team by not turning out to be a net positive. No hate to Dame because it wasn’t on him, we never played to his strengths and Giannis couldn’t hold a pick for him to save his life. That and having Doc Rivers as a coach… And giving AJ Green that contract. Damn this team is cooked I’m depressed.
Dame injury 100% signaled the end of the team. Stretching him for Myles was just adding to the unsaveable situation.
I admire them going for it though. Bucks always have, just iddnt’ work out…
and some of that “just didnt’ work out” is Giannis himself. His injuries at the wrong time ruined any chance to even make it in the playoffs even if the rest of the team was capable.
You should be, I’m sick of it and I’m not a bucks fan
Any organization that hires Doc Rivers is inherently pathetic
Hiring and retaining Doc is pathetic.
Is your org pathetic? They made some bad/questionable moves/drafts, but the bulk of the problem is that middleton and lopez got old and washed, and the dame trade everyone hyped up and praised at the time unfortunately did not work out too well before Dame got a massive injury. When middleton and lopez were good there was no reason to trade them, so can’t blame your FO for not moving on earlier, and the dame trade wasn’t their fault.
Griffin instead of Nurse or Atkinson was his idea, which lead to Glenn
Yeah that too. Can’t blame the org when Giannis picked a coach then it turned out said coach was insane and they had to kick him out. Doc hasnt been good but the odds of finding someone better mid season was always going to be hard.
aand that is a technical foul 🤓
“That’s a technical foul”
Perfect Greek swearing by Giannis there :)
“Gamo ti panagia sou gamo!”
He gone
As long as he doesn’t try to ruin the Hornets, I don’t care where he goes.
👋 👋 stop extending and pick a team for yourself chump
Yikes… I mean isn’t he the main reason why the team is the way it is. Like they got dame after giving up everything.
atp I wish for Giannis to have a minor surgery that takes him out for this year and next so we can actually fully just be ass and rebuild and come back with our boy in 2028
Wasn’t that his assignment?
Love to see it. Made your own bed giannis
Did he try to box out his own teammate?
Hey maybe he’ll make a snarky social media post about how he never wanted to learn.
Kalshi bet fulfilled
Put a body on him if you want the rebound
Lol ‘Cream City’
Idk why he’s acting so miserable. Grow up, everyone has to be on bad teams sometimes. Hes doing all these antics when he coulda just came out months ago and said im not happy, I wanna leave. I’m tired of his childish antics that’s he’s doing to try and keep people as sympathetic towards him as possible. I’m not falling for this. He’s the guy that cheats on the girl then starts crying when he’s caught.
Is that court honoring the waffle house?
Road map of the city streets.
Worst jerseys ever
I didn’t even realize Giannis was playing again lol
It is funny how this team looks better with KPJ than with Giannis
Literal terrorist doc rivers
Giannis just came back and he’s already all pissy?
Why didn’t he trade himself at the deadline?
Bucks fans, this doesn’t look good for you
imagine if he put these energies into getting rebounds this game
Must’ve had the under on Daniel
Giannis, pal, you won the city and team the chip, it’s okay to take your talents elsewhere.
Can we please go back to normal courts?
Cream City?
ladders in the building were trembling after seeing this
Does Giannis have the worse surrounding roster in the NBA ? (Nets do not count)
No, just been a lot of injuries and new young guys.
Those young’s guys are so mid name the top 3 players outside of Giannis
I bet my life savings on kalshi he wouldnt get a technical tonight, why giannis why!?
Star players in the NBA can be so entitled. That’s his box out what’s he raging for
Greek goofy
A tech
Such weak ass refs
Giannis is becoming unbearable. He’ll sign his next super deal and continue to drop comments that imply he’s unhappy and may want to be traded. His window is closing. He better figure our his priorities. Milwaukee doesn’t seem to be positioned for a championship anytime soon
That should be a delay of game at best
He shoulda gone to Miami
Dude had the chance to force his way out and get to a place that makes him happy. He chose the path that ensures he’s not the “bad guy”, and now he has to reap his rewards.
We’ll do the dance again this summer, and hopefully after that we can be done with the song and dance. If he leaves, that’s his forever home. If he stays, that’s his forever home. Where he plays opening night is where he stays, for the rest of his career!
Maybe he’ll feel better if he posts another Wolf of Wall Street clip
I don’t know. Looks inadvertent to me.
Fucking refs.
lol players do this all the time, they really T’d him up for that???
I’m pretty sure it’s only a T because he didn’t catch it after the fact
God forbid players show some emotion. It’s not even directed at a ref. Never understood this rule.
You dont see the problem with throwing the ball in the direction of the audience? It’s fine as long as it doesn’t hit someone? There’s no point in trying to make exceptions when its behavior you absolutely don’t want the players getting comfortable with.
lol he’s literally right in front of the base of the hoop and threw it right at it. there was a 0% chance it was ever gonna hit anyone in the crowd, stop clutching your pearls
Yeah fuck you too Gianni. No effort and acting like a bitch with poor body language and 0 defense since the second quarter…
Bucks fans got no respect for the best player their franchise has ever had in the last 50+ years🤦🏽♂️
I have tons of respect for him but he acted like a child who didn’t give a shit for about 50% of this game man. This team of course lives and dies by him and having your leader just straight up quit mid game is a terrible look.
Yeah i get it. Giannis is a bucks legend and will be remembered very fondly when he retires but that doesn’t excuse the poor effort and attitude he’s had. Just sit out and go home if you’re gonna act like this
Yeah and the back and forth-ness of him staying/leaving, the fact he had a fit when they were booed earlier in the season (rightfully) and went to the media about feeling disrespected just leaves a bad taste in the mouth after watching whatever the hell kind of effort that was tonight. We’ll always love him but tonight was another level
What a loser
Giannis is the reason they suck. Time to move on, chump.
Man if Luka did this there’d be 1000 comments calling him a complainer and crybaby
Lakers fans always finding a way to make it about their team smh
Yep that basket completely his fault
