[Highlight] Celtics rookie Hugo González with the block and an easy lay up on the other end
Hugo “Hugo Gonzalez” Gonzalez
FYI just so you know, it’s pronounced “Hugo”. Not how you said it.
Uggo?
Yes
I know pal I’m a Cs fan
Fair enough but people still keep pronouncing it “Hugo” incorrectly.
It’s “Hugo”.
Nikolaj
PORZINGIS!
pHugo, the P is silent, like in plasagna
This explanation doesn’t work if you type it buddy
Do you know how jokes work
Only if they are good jokes
I go, hugo, we all go, for ice go

Hugo Gonzalez is one of the best close out defenders I’ve ever watched. His ability to sag off his guy to be ultra aggressive on steals and double teams yet never put his team in harm by being able to close out to his man with speed all while being in control. This clip isn’t a perfect example of that but that is something I’ve noticed about him.
He causes so much havoc because it looks like he constantly gambling on doubles and steals, but he almost never gets burned on it. Partly due to his anticipation and partly due to his athleticism. He really has been a key part of making Anfernee Simons, Luka Garza, and Nikola Vucevic look like passable defenders.
He also has huge hands, which he seems to really use to his advantage both in the close outs and also reaching in for steals
2nd largest ever measured at the combine. Same size as Shaq at 10 and a quarter.
What the fuck
The balls look so little when in his hands.
Really great hands around the rim offensively too. The lefty finish on the oop pass from Jaylen in transition yesterday was nasty.
Is that a map of Milwaukee on Bucks court paint?
Tough
The map is cool but Cream city is certainly a choice.
It got the name Cream City because of the color of the bricks used to construct much the city’s early 19th century buildings.
It is such a little thing but I love how he completed that lay up. Fluid, got his body between himself and the defender, great body control, got that thing tucked in the exact right spot. Hes a really nice piece. I hate the Celtics. I hate Brad Steven’s and his folksy roster building.
You’re telling me 55 is not Jason Williams
if jason williams was from central Nebraska
He’s even got sauce in his passes
absolute dawg.
Watching this man is such a thrill
Rookie season and the guy is already a top-tier role player in the league
Hugo’s going to be a problem in this league, and the flashes he’s shown on offense throughout the year have really made me struggle with what exactly his ceiling is. Like, hell, is a kawhi level offensive rise in the question? Sometimes he does things that kind of just make you stare slackjawed and go “huh.”
One small rule doubt: If he jumps from outside the lines and touches the ball, wouldn’t it be out of bounds and possesion for the bucks?
I’m no expert it’s a honest question.
Yes, he would need to reestablish himself inbounds before touching so it should have been a dead ball right then, still a great play/effort beside that though
Bro was clearly out of bounds after block when he tipped the ball to Dwhite
Isn’t this the guy Adam Sandler trained?
Bucks are checked out already
Bro has that 1950’s layup package
What is this court? It looks like a cookie.
Ooogo
Ryan sees his man coming down the court and doesn’t pick him up? Wtf are you trying to do?
He’s getting zero all Rookie buzz and I didn’t hear his name for Rising Stars but this dude is already a high level 3&D wing and he just turned 20. It’s insane how in a professional league full of young elite athletes he still jumps off the screen with his effort, activity and most important his positioning on the court. He’s always in the right spot or making perfect cuts or crashing the offensive glass. Brad Stevens is a god
These courts suck
Rewarded the big man running the floor
It was a good play but he was out of bounds when he touched the tip after the block
Clearly out of bounds.
He touched it before he landed out of bounce
After that. He jumps from out of bounds and swats the ball to Derrick White without being in bounds.
He was in the air when he swats it, not out of bounce again
Right but he did not come back in bounds before jumping in the air so I am pretty sure he is technically still out of bounds until he establishes himself in bounds. I could be wrong about the rules but I think that’s what u/speedism was referring to.
I think you meant to say he was out of bounds and that when he jumped to tip, that was illegal touching. Which is true if Hugo didn’t re-establish himself inbounds.
I’m not sure if it counts if his toes were inbounds when he jumped for the ball, but his heels seem to have been out before he jumped. I’d blame the ref for not looking down at where Hugo landed.
So????
So the layup doesn’t count? Is common sense optional?
So should’ve been Bucks ball on the baseline, no layup
