I learned last season that his glorified asst:to ratio is fake. All he does is stay on the perimeter and make safe swing passes. He is too short and unathletic to drive into the paint and collapse a defense, the suns had to move him to basically backcourt ball handler then run into the corner bc he just wasnt getting downhill on any screens to force at least some type of defensive rotation and create space for spot up shooters on the perimeter.

Yeah you can trust him not to throw away possessions which is cool, but he’s not diming guys up or giving a bench scoring juice or even defending his man. You can do worse for a regular-season backup PG though.

Tbf he worked well as a back up on Memphis. He just wasn’t starter material.

We do not need Russ. His hustle and intensity are great but our offense revolves around methodical sets and good shot selection and obviously requires good spacing for Jokic/Murray 2 man game. All 3 of those things Russ is a huge negative in. 

Like he was playing those minutes in a clutch because the team was injured last year. Russ as a backup PG with this bench would be good for the Nuggets, and Russ was vital to their playoff wins last year.

He played so decent that OKC outscored Denver by 92 points when he played. (Almost an entire game worth of margin while Russ was on the floor)

Jokic got to see those deficiencies in bbiq firsthand. Jokic holding Russ from touching the ball to save time on the clock is just one off the top of my head. You could see jokic get frustrated with Westbrick all the time.

If the mvp wanted him back, he’d be back. It’s not rocket science.

Yeah I wanted him on the team for a couple of years and we got him, I was excited. He’s really not good.

People really seem to ignore how fucking bad he has been this season. Maybe he bounces back and at least gets his shooting/scoring in order, but like…. yikes. You’re far better off with some G-League PG given his play.

He still looked like a good backup point guard for a good half to two thirds of that Suns season at least. In Orlando and Dallas he was so much worse.

Who exactly are you going to add off the buyout market that can play real mins at forward? Middleton is tired of moving around and there’s no one else available. We should realistically have at least 3 healthy forwards within the next 2-3 games. I wouldn’t exactly call Cam sitting out the second night of a back to back against the Utah Jazz “unhealthy” in the first place.

Also, idk why I’m just accepting this stupid “4 forwards” narrative. Zeke and Daron Holmes are objectively power forwards as their main position, and both CB and BB have always been combo ²⁄₃ players. We have plenty of forwards
