Zion Williamson: “The most difficult point was when I missed my 3rd year with a broken foot. There was a lot of criticism on my weight, my care for the game. I was really low because I just wanted to play basketball”
To be fair, every time he checked his phone it was Moriah
Moriah mills era was peak jerking. Rip tornado trick 🌪️
Tornado style summer
🌪️ Zoriah 🌪️
That woman is straight up gross looking to me and I have no idea why THAT would be your pornstar of choice as a world famous athlete.
I’ll keep defending Zion on that one, 2018 bimbo Moriah Mills looked incredible (she’s a pornstar, not my future wife), of course she looked fake that was the point. Modern Moriah with her new BBL looks disgusting tho, but I understand that Zion had a dream and had the ability to make it real.
She was a legit studio pornstar, not a random stripper from a small town
A pornstar who peaked in 2018? Sounds like she’s the Zion of pornstars right?
Please show me a picture of this woman when she was allegedly “hot” because I haven’t seen it.
U want normal or Russian link?
Whatever infects my computer with less malware
I’d like the one with more malware please.
Bro could’ve had smorgasbord of OF baddies :QueenEgirl;MissBnasty etc
They pick some of the most mid Walmart rats.Â
The way yall talk about women is weird
I mean you’re right, if you mean by women who consider themselves before they consider what they can be for the cash and the bling bling.
I’m talkin bout rats Yung buck. I ain’t talking bout only fans girls or Hillary Clinton or ya momma or ya sister. I’m talkin bout dem rats b.Â
They’re right, but also, the way you talk about shit in general just seems weird
Poetry be crazy, dawg
Never fails everytime i see some weirdo comment on reddit its always the most chronically online dude that comments on reddit 20x a day
Being a famous athlete doesn’t automatically get you the primo selection of pornstars lol. I doubt Zion was looking for someone hard to get.
Bro, please look into the sex lives of NBA players even just a little bit. It seriously is that easy. Especially with social media.
You’re reading too much fan fic lol. The women willing to be an nba player’s mattress are not the people you’re thinking of.
You’re vastly underestimating the number of women willing to be an NBA players mattress lol. Shit, look at the quality of women willing to be flown to the fucking UAE to be sex objects for the rich dudes out there. Also go ahead and read the type of shit they would do. You have no idea lol. Plenty of smoking hot women with dollar signs in their eyes.
Sorry - what quality of woman are you saying those are?
Plenty of smoking hot women with dollar signs in their eyes.
Low quality? I think that’s what you’re saying but I’m still not positive.
I feel like you’re being intentionally obtuse in the service of trying to make some stupid point about how extremely attractive women aren’t “high quality” or something when we’re literally talking about women young men want to have sex with for pleasure. That means we’re talking about physical attractiveness. We’re not talking about marriage here lmao. If you’re a horny dude in his 20s looking for a booty call are you going to want to fuck the 10⁄10 or the 6⁄10? Wake up
Okay buddy
r/okbuddyretard
you are dead wrong my guy lol
Cus what’s did Snoop once say? “Witches ain’t ish but ohs and tricks…lick on deez nuts and suck the blick” and he’s a millionaire, he throw that money around like piss in a bucket.
It was probably DoorDash. I’ve never seena guy gain so much weight like he does and then whine about being criticized for being fat.
Fat shaming works
She’s soo lucky
Not to be dick but he could’ve stayed in better shape even with the injury, its not like he cant exercise. If he cared for the game as much as he seems to express here, wouldn’t it make sense to be in the best possible shape when its time to come back?
Easier said then done, you can be a genetic freak but if your mind aint right you will crumble under all that pressure from young age and not fully developed brain. Depression can manifest in many forms cant blame the dude, i wish him to stay healthy and try to reach his peak.
Yeah I feel like people don’t comprehend that these dudes’ lives have been on rails from the time they’re like, 5 years old. This was probably the first time in this man’s life, at like 22 years old, where he wasn’t able to close his eyes and clearly actualize his life long dream.
That’ll fuck you up
the dude’s in the league for fucking 7 YEARS already, what do you mean by first time in his life? dude even already did a 2nd contract. Stop giving this man an excuse lol
He was 22 years old when he broke his foot. If you were 22 and had no tools to deal with emotional turmoil at this level (because your entire life was an upwards trajectory before this), you think you’d just immediately learn to deal with it and move on??
Idk man that sounds like a super easy thing to say from your armchair, y’know?
Way to have some humanity my guy, good look for you
if judging zion’s laziness makes me a bad person then so be it.
doesn’t make you a bad person, just overly judgemental. we don’t know his state of mind at the time or why he gained that weight, that’s just the fact of it.
It’s a fine look. Oh no, he criticizes a professional athlete who, after 7 years still can’t get his shit together.
Point
Your head
He should show some humanity and donate the wages he took when not playing
I’m not a religious person but situations like this make me realize why envy is a sin
Y’all can’t look past your own jealousy to see the human being there.
Where’s the jealousy in my comment?
The acrobatics people will go through to defend millionaire sports players.
In 6 years Zion has made more money than the average lifetime earnings of 70 people in the us. Bro wants to talk about humanity and all that when Zion spends all his money on fashion, cars and pornstars
Someone commented on a post of mine that if you made $180k every year since 1492, you still would have less money than Bismack Biyombo made. And yet I’m supposed to feel bad for Zion, who makes significantly more than even that???
Nah fuck him, if he can’t be fucked to give everything he has to this, even when injured, while normal people have to grind for 45 years and never sniff that level of wealth and status, he can suck it.
This thread might be filled with formerly chubby black kids
The vibes I got from these dudes was “if it were ME in this situation I’ll never be in, I’d do better. Just saying”
If expecting a guy making millions of dollars to be somewhat in shape makes me a dick, then I’m a dick.Â
I honestly don’t think this dude or the downvoters are even comprehending what you’re saying.
Being in the league 7 years has literally nothing to do with what Zion is talking about in this clip. This was possibly (likely) the first major sports-related obstacle the dude had to face, and he was trying to reckon with the idea of losing everything he’d built. On top of that, facing an exorbitant amount of criticism.
Something of the sort would probably send anyone who wasn’t a genuine narcissist into a depressive spiral.
I mean criticize away - that’s part of sports fandom - but at the very least think critically about your opinions. No one gets to this level on the basis of ‘laziness’ and ‘excuses’, no matter how talented you are - no one. And anyone who’s actually played anything at a higher level can tell you that, plain and simple.
And anyway, I’m personally impressed with Zion this year; it seems like he’s finally doing something right in the health department - and him being healthy and on the court is good for the whole of basketball. People don’t watch the Pels though, so they probably don’t even know - but that’s never stopped them from sharing their opinions, obviously
Any perceived laziness for pro athletes makes people steaming mad. I agree that it shows a complete lack of understanding around how much time and effort goes into becoming a pro athlete, especially with a skill-based sport like basketball.
Real crab in the bucket energy tbh
I’ve heard good things about Zion this year, haven’t watched any Pels games (can you blame me) but I’m happy the dude is thriving. I 100% agree, Zion balling out again is great for the NBA.
Yeah, its tiring. Also amusing to watch everyone kinda pile on a total misunderstanding, too.
Regarding Zion and the Pels this year, I’d suggest you check out a game. They’ve been looking really solid since Dejounte Murray came back.
Z did turn his ankle though, but just a small thing - I think he’s gonna be back tonight against the Lakers. Should be a fun game, considering how the Pels have been playing lately
I would have more sympathy if he didn’t take 100s of millions in the process. He definately seemed to get over his issues and “cared” when contract time was coming, as it is now.
I mean u could always stay in better shape but for a huge NBA player that moves so much and burns that many calories (and also needs calories) you cannot work out with a broken foot, you need to cut down on so many calories
Weight gain is about diet not exercise.
Okay so why didnt he is paid millions to maintain health and if everyone calling him fat was bothering him dont be fat
Good Lord, where is the punctuation? This is nearly impossible to read lol
Kids please stay in school
Hes still right tho. And at the same time u get what he’s saying but dont want to answer it.
I had to read it 5 times to maybe get what he’s saying. A comma or two isn’t that hard. I see you must be a product of LAUSDs worst lol
It wasn’t that hard to read get over yourself
A comma or two is not hard bro lol
Not my fault you didn’t pass 6th grade English
Your right, its not. The other guys is being dramatic, but damn, would a comma kill you?
Out of curiosity, have you ever lost a large amount of weight?
At his weight/height/age someone who was sedentary (like with a broken foot) a quick calculator has at like 3k calories a day. If you upped it to “athlete” it goes up to 4.7k a day. A professional athlete is way more, like probably 3-4k higher than sedentary.
I dropped from 325lbs to 185 over a period of a few years with some big yoyos. A lot of that was at around 1k calorie deficit a day. That is definitely difficult and takes a ton of discipline and feeling like shit, but very doable. You will be weaker, destroy muscle mass (your body burns muscle first in high deficit) and literally always be hungry. Not the end of the world for a few months, but a lot of people don’t have the discipline.
Anything above that for a somewhat normal person (less than 400lbs and can walk and touch their toes) is fucking nuts. Most doctors worth their medical license would never tell you to drop 2k+ calories a day. Particularly while you are healing from an injury. It would shred his muscle mass. Could throw him into potentially deadly hypertension. Slow his healing, and a number of other health consequences not to mention how fucking miserable you would be 24⁄7.
The rest of your body doesn’t magically catch up and go “Okay cool we’re not an NBA athlete any more”
All that to say even if he did drop 2k calories a day he’d probably still be above his TDEE and put on weight. Professional athletes are some of the only people in the world who can actually out exercise their diet, meaning if you remove the exercise from a guy like Zion he’s going to gain weight. And you can do all the water aerobics you want but it’s not the same as what they burn in games, training, recovery and even rest (when you exercise as hard as they do you have a consistent spike in calories burned all day long)
Zion probably didn’t do everything he could, but at least some weight gain is a foregone conclusion.
I’m sure there’s some player who’s been an exception to this. But they would be a big exception.
I have but I’m also not paid millions to take care of my body.
Old habits die hard and money isn’t the ultimate motivator like we all like to pretend it is. Plenty of players hang around the league because they have lots of potential, but their bad habits hold them back
There are still exercises he could’ve done with a broken foot after the first couple weeks. Swim, row, lift. He wasn’t paralyzed.
Wait, how did yoyos help you lose that much weight?
Yoyo can be used for intense cardio
Lol jk yoyoing means being in a cycle of losing, gaining back, losing, etc.
Like I dropped 100lbs, regained 80, dropped 80, regained 60, then dropped the last 80 to get to 185. This was over like 7 years.
Oh, I see
I think something that also needs to be said is that Zion just needs to work on his discipline with his diet. We don’t know what his relationship with food in general is (maybe he stress eats or uses it as a coping mechanism idk), but he’s gotta lock in.
I’m not going to armchair psychologist a pro athlete who’s paid millions upon millions to stay in shape. I feel for him as a fellow human but bro needs to get it together.
Hire a nutritionist in addition to the chef you already got, have them find the perfect calorie/protein/fiber mix you need to be in tip top shape and stick to it.
Better doesn’t even require exercise it requires you to eat less food
He was eating his feelings? And they were very big feelings
I don’t think he made that connection in his head. It took him a few years to understand that.
“I grew from it”
No lies detected
Well played if intended.
One of the most predictable p.r interviews in a while. Still don’t think GM’s are gonna view him much differently than they viewed Trae.
Bros trying to get that trade value up
The main difference is that Zion, at his best, is much closer to being worth his contract than Trae is.
He still looks chonky.
He’s done. If you can’t lose weight with GLP you’re toast
He just played 35 games in a row and said he will be back tomorrow. What do you mean “He’s done.”
Dude always says the right things during interviews but never does the right thing. What a way to waste away a generational athleticism and hype. When I got back in my mind I think Zion was the most hyped rookie since Lebron- You’ve heard about him when he was still a kid. His childhood/teenage mixtapes began the era of showcasing every kid dropping buckets now
His childhood/teenage mixtapes began the era of showcasing every kid dropping buckets now
Lol how old are you? High school mixtapes have been a thing for many, many years before Zion lol
seventh woods is gonna break out any day now
The original teenage GOAT mixtape
Different sport but sam McGuffey
Cody Paul. White kids 6th grade Reggie Bush XD
Nah his were different and went a new level of viral tho, the hype for him felt different
Austin Rivers, John Wall, D Rose, Aquille Carr, Seventh Woods, OJ Mayo, Tyreke Evans etc all exist brother.
Demar Derozan, Brandon Jennings, Andrew Wiggins. Bro must be Zion age lol
I forgot how hyped high school Wiggins was lol.
John Wall’s mixtapes were averaging like 5-10 million views each so he’s definitely young.
Bruh it was either hoopmixtape or ballislife, but one of them madlads said the athleticism of LeBron with the shooting touch of KD.
And I may be biased but I feel like John Walls mixtapes are the ones that kicked off the trend of everyone getting mixtapes.
You weren’t around for John Wall era clearly, go check out the hype around him coming out of high school and going to Kentucky. I was in high school in Raleigh and when Word of God (his high school team) played in the area the line would be out of the door and wrapping around the gym.
No you’re right John wall hype went crazy!! Wiggins had high high school hype and was still no1 pick, but after college he def lost some of his hype
You can already tell the weight has degraded his athleticism. He’s still very good when healthy but he still s a lesser version of what he might have been
julian newman lfg!
PR team on point. Give them a bonus
I’m probably the only one that ever feels this way, but I’ve always felt bad for him. Food addiction is real. The amount of calories this dude has had to consume to stay his size is nuts. I struggled with food addiction. It’s the only addiction that’s essential for survival so it’s always been hard to put the fork down after one plate of food, especially if it’s delicious. This motherfucker got drafted to one of the great culinary cities on this earth. I feel for him. There’s a lot of things he could’ve done better, but I’m telling you food addiction is tough. Everyone says why can’t you get it together to make tons of millions of dollars? I’m like bruh, there are millions of people on this earth right now being told by their doctors that they are going to kill themselves with their diets and hardly any of them are ever gonna change them. It’s a tough thing to conquer.
I honestly truly believe I’d be just like him. I’d work hard, I’d practice a lot, etc. But I’d eat until I was literally sweating every night after working out all day.
I mostly agree with you, but at the same time, Zion had millions of dollars and access to trainers, dieticians, chefs, doctors, sports psychologists and everything and anything else that a modern sports team can offer a player.
Yes, addictions are hard, but he had access to more resources than 99% of other people. Sorry, but no excuses. Bro got paid and decided he’d eat his cheques and fuck a mid porn star.
He had the world at his fingertips at 19, yall forgot how young these men when the money hits. Addiction is more than just “hard”. Cleary he made poor decisions, but if we are gonna label him an addict(I wouldn’t even go that far with it personally) then following it up with “he should get help instead of being an addict” doesn’t really align with what addiction is.
I realize that. I’m not saying he is an addict, I can’t know what goes on in his mind.
But this guy at 19 had loads of people in his corner corner and it took him like 6 years to figure it out. Again, he had all the advantages and used none of them. Obviously, just because those advantages are available doesn’t mean a person will access them, but a guy like Zion has no excuses.
He should own up, whether it is/was, “I have a food addiction” or “I was young and stupid and didn’t work hard to maximize my talent and the opportunities given to me because of it”.
I bet it was really easy for a 20 year old getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars every month to lose focus on what got him there, but any way you look at it, Zion absolutely wasted prime years of his career.
I wouldn’t call him an addict, I’d call him lazy
He’s supposedly 6’6 264lbs right now. He’s been as heavy as 284lbs.
Rob Gronkowski is basically identical to him as far as height and weight and if he can figure it out, Zion could have too. Zion has made double the money Gronk did in his entire career as of now. \(75million vs \)153million.
I can’t feel bad for people that aren’t willing to want to help themselves. In 6 years he’s played an average of 35 games/year.
i doubt food addiction is his biggest problem unfortunately
Give me a fucking break đź’€ there’s so much information available on what someone’s nutritional needs are for their height, activity level, age, and gender. Literally anyone on this planet with access to the internet can plug their stats in and get their ideal macros.Â
Now add in the fact that he has hundreds of millions of dollars and access to the the pelicans training staff. He doesn’t even have to just put the fork down, he is privileged to have access to great tasting healthy food and stuff his face like he wants to. He Can afford the most expensive protien sources. He could hire a private chef and literally not have to worry about anything.Â
There are people in the world making minimum wage at tropical smoothie and working out at planet fitness in better shape than Zion.
Dude just wants to eat cake and Cheetos and Mountain Dew while getting paid a max contract. Which is fine if that’s what you wanna do. But to act like he can’t help it or is somehow a poor victim is totally deranged.
I agree with your sentiment. People give the excuse that he’s a millionaire but how hard is it for normal ppl to drink water, make a salad, and be health conscious? I know cooking takes time and the pros have people to cook for them, but if we really cared we would cook too. I get what you’re saying man. Seems like he got paid and he could somewhat make do and the juice was worth the squeeze so to speak.
I’m ready to silence the haters when you are Z
his real problem started at this time, when he decided to invite some nice ladies from his instagram for you page to help raise his spirits.
No it didn’t
That Mountain Dew (I think) commercial ruined his image. He was so tubby in that commercial.
What about that tattoo vid where they cut to them serving a big bowl of pasta
Man was so low he just drowned his sorrows into porn stars
Oh no he was so down and out he only had food from his private chefs and onlyfans models to console him
Saying all the right things for his next contract.
I don’t blame him.
But I blame anyone that falls for it and pays him.
Good luck.
The fact that he can say this with a straight face and genuinely feel like he was the victim is why the current NBA sucks ass
Oh please. You have everything at the tip of your fingers to do something about your health and yet you decided not too and get outed by a pornstar in the process. Some basketball players truly never had to earn anything in their life and it shows smfh
disagree. He is lazy and undisciplined. Those aren’t traits of someone who wants to play basketball at an elite level.
Zion and Ayton are some all-time natural talent wasters
Apparently he didn’t want to play basketball more than he wanted to eat
The trade returns for Zion are going to be ghastly. Especially considering that his value was astronomically high when he was first drafted.
Zion, Jason Morant, and Ben Simmons really had an unearned level of idgaf that you don’t see as much with younger guys. Those 3 are outliers compared to guys like Jaylen Brown, Cade, or Ant who seem to have the same confidence but also the work ethic to back it up.
Zion has amazing birthing hips though
Bruh I can’t take this guy seriously. Every time I look at him I think about how he pays tens of thousands of dollars on the weekly to sleep with a variety of BBW thotties
New Orleans fans should be fucking pissed. Guy is shamelessÂ
Hope he makes a come back . Now like I think about it it could make sense that injury was causing him to gain weight. I always hear about athletes when they’re injured. They can’t do anything so it’s easier to gain weight if you can’t work out.
These are extremely well paid athletes with access to a lot of resources. From what I have seen, teams have nutritionists on staff or on contract that work with a player’s private chef to keep them in optimal condition. Even if his team didn’t have that resource, he could certainly afford it. Often times insurance will cover some sessions with a nutritionist and that is normal insurance, not the high end plans these guys have. Â
There is no way that these professionals don’t understand that if an athlete cannot play they need to consume fewer calories. At some point, it is on the athlete to actually take that advice and tell their chef to keep them on a certain number of calories per day or stick to whatever diet a nutritionist suggests.
Part of being an elite athlete is having self-control and an insane work ethic. Every guy who got to the NBA has that to some extent. The problem is that once they get there some seem to lose their ambition or gameness, especially as those paychecks roll in. Â
You’re right but not everyone can be LeBron . I heard bron eats burgers with no bun lol
But you’re right ….. it’s not just him either tons of athletes have this problem
IS THAT CRAIG???
There’s not a lot of people I want to see succeed more in the NBA than Zion, I love his game
I don’t think I understand—his doctor didn’t know the next steps after a broken foot? Not that complicated, a broken foot isn’t a medic mystery.
foot and ankle surgery can actually be very complex and that’s without operating on a goliath who plays professional basketball for a living
Malika got the bag to be the official 1-on-1 interviewer for ESPN with the league
Well he sure grew from it. Just not that way.
Sad because Zion is pretty fun and if he could stay healthy and really get great conditioning he could be a two way force.
Chuck was the perfect person to model himself after and he didn’t heed the warnings from him
Was Zion supposed to be the next Lebron?
His biomechanics are/were always more of a concern for me than his playing weight.
Always felt like he landed on one foot a ton after dunks. I imagine that’s not good for his knees or foot.
If you have ever played sports and dealt with injury this resonates with you. The rest of the cesspool are gamblers.
Not even TRYING to hide the ear piece where he’s got his PR ppl piping him good answers. Dude wanted to play basketball, but he wanted that 3rd big mac more. That’s the appetite of a champion.
You’re not educated on how production works
Most of the people criticizing him on here back then and now prolly weigh the same or more as him minus any of the muscle lol.
Yeah a ton of people are overweight, but the difference is that a ton of people don’t get paid millions of dollars to not be that way. I mean, duh? It’s not just that people are clowning on Zion for being periodically fat, it’s that’s he’s periodically fat at the expense of the basketball club and fans that support him
I mean no amount of money can out buy depression man. Idk people act like or athletes owe us something when they worked their whole lives for their sport, not for the fans. They also don’t have any control on how much stupid money they make. I agree with you, it’s just also I can see how Zion’s brain is prolly fucked from the whole scenario.
