I think it is fair to say lukas legs have fully gotten under him now, the arc on his 3s are night and day from the start of the year. But another thing that’s helping is that with Luke Kennard, the lakers just inherently have more spacing, which makes defenses hesitate a little more.

The issue with the Trae & Lamelo comps is that Luka also scores a lot from the post and mid range where as those 2 guys are highly reliant on their 3s. If their shot isn’t falling then they are unlikely to be efficient that game whereas Luka can score in the post, midrange, and free throw line.

He’s been shooting lights out ever since they acquired Kennard. They can’t stunt and recover like before so he’s got more space to cook. Gotta respect the skip pass more too. So now you trap him, he finds the shooter, you play him straight, he scores.

His TOVs are way down as well. Likely because he doesn’t have to drive into the traffic as much just to generate offense

I mean they don’t really need to run this offensive unit for a long period of time so Ayton can still start. Example they can use it to pad or maintain a lead. If there is a unit able to trade baskets this is probably it. Maybe if you to trade 3s for 2s when say Lebron gets out to take a rest.
