SGA exits the game with another 30 point performance with 5 ast and 3 stl
https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/sga-tonight
His consistency is unreal
Passed Wilt tonight for most consecutive 20+ point games on the road all time
People are in denial about what we’re witnessing with this guys peak, he has everything it takes to be the defining player post-LeBron
Pretty crazy run that he’s on - the last time he didn’t drop 20+ points at an away game was near the end of the 2023-2024 season. Just shy of 2 years ago.
A lot of uncomfortable convos are going to happen sooner than later
But look at his raw FTA numbers….and ignore he’s 7th in the league for FGA, 3rd for drives and 130th for 3PA.
Or that his stats this season put him 27th all time for PPG and 190th all time for FTA per game.
I’d argue he’s got the most consistent offensive floor in history
This scoring streak he’s on is way more impressive than wilts. Wilt was playing 48 minutes a game
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 these okc fans man 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
maybe it’s because the defense is consistently bad
then explain why the second longest active 20-pts streak is only 37?
SGA is the consistency man. You know what you’ll get from this dude. Must be a dream to build around him as a star for Presti, he can fit almost anything around SGA and it’ll work.
He’s a dream full stop. He makes everyone better, sets the standards, is a T1 team mate from top to bottom, and is an excellent person off court too. He’s everything an org could ever want. And all that from a throw in player from the pg trade
Off court is a good point which goes underappreciated. No drama I can think of on or off court of any noticeable degree with him. Same reason he’s pretty much been tossed aside as any semblance of face of the league is why teammates and management must love him the most. That PG trade man… I feel like it’s almost fair to call it worse than the Luka trade in the long run. Imagine how good the Clippers could be right now with Shai and who those picks turned into! PG isn’t even with them anymore lmfao
Hindsight is a wonderful thing on that trade as it’s really pg plus kawhi who could and should have been unbelievable together. The fact we’ve won a championship and STILL are due a clippers pick is crazy
Clippers are just dictated to be in eternal poverty I think. Good lord, they mortgaged their future for the foreseeable future for one conference finals appearance. Ig they aren’t the Kings at least but at least the Kings have a chip to point to…
We still haven’t even had the kawhi/balmer investigation finish yet either. They could be in hell for a long long time
That’s getting swept under the rug for sure though
Sacramento can’t really claim the chip lol All the way from Rochester lol
Was he a throw in player? I vaguely remember reading (back in 2019) that the trade originally included Landry Shamet but that Presti pushed very hard for SGA instead
Presti was very high on Shai and i don’t think he does the trade without Shai. Presti knew the leverage he had with kawhi holding out
Most consistent offense arguably ever, large for his position and plays D
Pretty easy to build around
There’s so much complaining from fans of other superstars about how good a team he has but what’s overlooked is that he’s easy to build around because he has no truly bad areas
Out of the players SGA is compared to Giannis can’t shoot and Luka/Jokic can’t defend that limits the types of players that fit with them (for example Denver are over reliant on Gordon in part because of Jokic’s defensive flaws)
In this case OKC can go all in on stacking their defense because they have SGA to carry the offense when the shooting goes cold which it did pretty much for all of their championship run
He’s one of the easiest stars to build around, probably the easiest. I can’t think of a player that would be a bad fit with him
It’s giving prime Kevin Durant.
he needed primary ball handler
It’s giving prime Lebron/MJ but yall not ready for that
He’s great but he’s not the defender that peak Jordan or Lebron were. He’s closer to Kobe, but better offensively and worse defensively
He’s at a better regular season offensive peak than everyone except Curry IMO. But Shai’s playoff offense is much better. I’m willing to say this is the greatest offensive peak of all time, or at least top 5.
Facts. SGA’s advanced metrics this season is in line with 2013 Bron and 1991 MJ (For those who don’t believe, go look at it. It is eerily similar).
Prime Lebron needed elite shooters
Who doesn’t need a shooter?
Prime Wilt
We’re not comparing what help wilt needed to the last 40 years come on now
Pistons
Do you think that’ll be sustainable throughout the playoffs?
I meant historically
But I think it’ll get the pistons to either 2nd round or maybe ECF.
Prime anyone needs players
Slow tf down lmao. SGA is no where near them as of rn
We are talking about current and not entire careers. SGA’s advanced metrics this season is in line with 2013 Bron and 1991 MJ (Go look at it. It is eerily similar). I guarantee that when MJ was 27 and has not won a ring yet and you say “MJ rn is better than Magic ever was” you would be laughed at either.
Josh Giddey 🥲
Love my Aussie but they’re both better off not sharing the floor.
I’d argue Tatum is right there
Cade’s on his heels.
The efficiency difference is a humongous gap. He’s roughly 3 years younger than Shai and I’d say Shai in 2023 was a better player than Cade now. Cade defo has the potential but he’s not the same caliber of a scorer Shai was at the same age
I will never hate on Cade for how he handled their losing years.
I love Cade, been watching him since his HS mixtapes
Cades decision making and ball security gotta hit another level first. He turns it over a lot. But yes Cade is very very good and polished in a ton of areas
Stop. lmao
Cade is incredible, but what Shai is doing offensively is generational.
Ah cmon, he’s easy to build around.
Ah, I read your comment as if Cade’s level of play was on Shai’s heels, not the ease of building a team around him. lol
He could be. He just needs to be more consistent.
56% TS, turnover prone, and 25 points per game. Not even close
Nope.
OKC’s offense can also be dire without him sometimes. It’s clear that they wouldn’t be a top 4 seed without him and probably a play-in team.
They’d be a little bit better than the healthy suns this year imo. They’d still be one of the best defenses in the league, but their offense would be pretty inconsistent. Healthy Jalen Williams is a bit of a wildcard in this hypothetical though - their offense has tanked with Jdub and no Shai in the past
LOL
He had us in the first half
Healthy JDub and Ajay should fix it. From there we just need the other guys to make their open threes.
In this case OKC can go all in on stacking their defense because they have SGA to carry the offense
Does this not apply exactly to both Jokic and Luka lmfao.
Shai has 5 out spacing and the best defensive cast in the league, isn’t that the ideal fit around both luka and jokic lol?
Disagree with Jokic because he’s so good offensively. And unlike Luka can play defense when it matters
Like he doesn’t bro come on we watch the games
They’ve been a great team with him
Two 30 point games immediately off-injury, he’s not gonna be a unanimous MVP but it’s gonna be close
If Jokic doesn’t get the game limit who else gets a vote?
probably cade or brown just to make sure he’s not unanimous
Cade has only played one more game than Shai btw. Giving him a first place vote would be crazy.
I saw a graphic today saying Cade had only missed 6 games though. SGA 11
Cade has played 53, Shai has played 51.
If jokic, Luka and wemby are out he might be right? I think that Brown and Cade are fully in the convo but you’re not gonna give them 1st votes over shai
There will be at least one Warriors homer who throws a 1st place vote at Cade in this scenario
4 steals*
People don’t understand what they’re watching
3rd best guard peak ever behind Mike and Steph
Maple Jordan
define “peak”
He’s not better than peak Kobe bro stop it
lol kobe isnt even better than magic. ball hog and a horrible teammate
lmao
0 pushoffs. Was told he does it every possession
He thought about doing it, that’s unethical enough surely.
Oh yeah you’re right my bad. 48th in education talking here ig
But there was an implication of a pushoff, so it’s basically the same.
Are..are these basketball players in danger?
No but you don’t get ant got called for a pushoff that Shai does 20 times a game you don’t understand ball!!!!!!!!
MVP. Just needs to stay eligible.
Wilts record will be broken soon
3 turnovers means unfortunately shai is still stamped with a bum performance, better luck next time shai.
Srsly though I always considered him to be someone who needs to get into the flow of things but he’s been pretty good since coming back. I got no idea what happened to his 3 point shot though
mv motherfucking p
Gotta be the least variance in history
It has been a while since the guy had a good 3pt shooting game. Let’s hope that means he’s going to break his record of 6 in a game soon.
Well it has to offset his ridiculous stretch of shooting like 32 of 58 from 3 back in November.
ESPN has the month of November and December as 47.9% and 43.6%. The rests are 27.8%,30.4%, and 25%. Last season he went 41.2% after all star break so that’s my cope for now
MVP
Mvp
yes but I hate him therefore not MVP
This is what happens when you wait until you’re healthy to start playing again instead of statpadding 65 games played
Why do people keep acting like Jokic came back while still injured, his legs are fine, its his wrist that is the problem, and that never gets any better with rest.
Nobody mentioned Jokic, dude.
Shit, I’m pretty sure his comment wasn’t even directed at any one player lmao.
Nuggets fans are insecure don’t mind him
Who else could it be about
Yeah that comment did seem pretty pointed lol
Yea it was definitely about jokic lmao, idk who else they thought i was talking about
Three more games to break Wilt’s consecutive 20 point record.
I was trying to remember how close he was, was tracking it before injury but lost count
2MVP
SGA on Steph’s training circuit, run it espn or whatever but it’ll make juice worth the squeeze whoever can make it happen..
He seems to be playing very iso heavy since he came back, but it’s probably just reps for him to return to normal form. Even when he looks shaky from 3 he can score everywhere else at will, amazing to watch
B2B MVP iA
Damn 5 assists!
It honestly feels automatic at this point. You look up midway through the third and he’s already at like 22 without forcing anything.
What’s crazy is how quiet his 30 feels sometimes. It’s just smooth drives, midrange pull ups, a couple steals, and suddenly it’s another stat line like this. Where do you guys have him in the MVP race right now?
And how many FTs?
6.
