Kerr stans live in a different world. This is the exact same player we had and he was giving us these exact same stats when Kerr was forced to let him play. Every game he played he gave us these stats, but y’all acted like it was some sort of fluke.

Stats are easy to read. Even per36, though that’s a little scarier

Kuminga will continue to average these numbers against any team in the league. He’s not a bad player, he just doesn’t fit well with the Warriors, and maybe not even with any contender. He’ll make a great tank commander, and he’ll be a fringe good player, like a Tyler Herro or something. I don’t think he’ll take that leap to being a pivotal championship contributing player though.

People joke the Warriors only system is just pass to Curry, but the reality is the opposite. Curry needs someone who can hit wide open shots WHEN he gets double/tripled. The ball needs to swing to the open man that can score. Kuminga is not a shooter, and he’d often try too hard to force the drive in that scenario, both routes leading to a dead play with below expected scoring. I say below expected because it’s not like he always missed, just wasn’t as productive as necessary to fill that roll. Rinse and repeat ad nauseam and either Kerr or the FO got sick of it and sat/traded him.

I mean the reality might lie somewhere in the middle.

Kerr not being a good coach and Kuminga not being MJ incarnate can both be true.

He’s good enough to not get DNPs on a mid team.

Those games with the Warriors don’t help Kerr’s case.

Kuminga clearly has talent and could produce within the Warriors’ system when given the opportunity.

But Kerr insisted on sidelining Kuminga for no good reason, rather than developing him.

Kerr has a very mixed legacy when it comes to developing players. Great coach, but he isn’t perfect.

Kuminga got a raw deal with the Warriors, and I’m glad he’s being given an opportunity to show his abilities.

Same as PJax (Always needed the best SG in the league to be able to win a title), Pop (did nothing outside of SAS and having MVP level Timmy, Admiral and Klaw), or Red Auerbach (no real career outside of a loaded Celtics squad).

A real good coach would have made a dynasty of ten straight titles with the Bobcats!

• He balled out in the playoffs vs the Timberwolves. Led the team in scoring on 64% TS while getting 27 min a game, meanwhile Pod who averaged 44% TS was getting 35 min a game. Amazing coaching having the best scorer play less than 30 min

I don’t get this mindset as a coach, even from one like Kerr when his job is basically safe. You develop young players and they play well or you can trade them for even better players.

Kerr and Kuminga don’t mix. Kerr likes guys playing how he wants them to and JK refuses to play like that. Just this year, Gui, Moody, Podz, and Richard all play and are young.

You sure about that? Young players are a big reason they are still over .500 despite not having their 2 best players. Moody, Santos, Podz, Post, Richard all playing quality minutes.

I mean hell, Klay and Dray were only a year younger than Kuminga when Kerr got there and that turned out pretty well

It’s just such a unique situation. I get a lot of Warriors fans were like he won’t play in the system and that’s fair, but you also adjust the system over time to best utilise the skills of the players you have on the roster. Kerr’s inability (or rather, unwillingness) to use guys as anything other than ‘Steph’s little helpers’ is both kinda understandable because Steph is incredible but also kinda unfortunate because it meant a ton of missed opportunities to get more out of young guys.

Kerr just has zero tolerance for players that don’t conform 100% to what he wants for them.

Draymond and Harrison Barnes turned out okay

either out of the NBA now or mediocre at best…and Draymond. These are late picks that proved to be really useful and meaningful for the Warriors dynastic runs. No other coach has a track record of making 40-50th picks look like they are NBA caliber players.
