It’s super weird how entitled people feel to interject on this subject. I’ve been through it, and I don’t even disagree that it looks better, but the extent to which people feel comfortable badgering people about it when no one asked them is super weird.

I think part of it is trying to be supportive of embracing something a person has little control over. I’m not going to say it is better or worse than just letting someone do whatever they want with whatever amount of hair that they have without comment, but I think the sentiment is coming from a spot of wanting to make someone feel better about themself.
I’m sure there are some who feel that way, but I think most people just feel like it’s this loophole where they feel license to be an asshole and they run with it because they have cover. Just like with overweight athletes - they’ve got plausible deniability that it’s because they’re an athlete so feel they have carte blanche to carpet bomb the dude with fat jokes.

People being supportive when a player shaves their head obviously isn’t the problem, it’s how any player visibly going bald is relentlessly roasted until they do. It’s weird that people feel entitled to dictate what someone they don’t know does with their hair and legit act like they take it personally when anyone has a visibly receding hairline.
Being supportive of someone who isn’t ashamed of their own appearance in the first place is just presumptuous and lowkey insulting

I’m 36 and starting to bald. I don’t give a shit, but I’m sure that if it happened to me when I was 24 (Jalen Suggs’s age) I would have been self-conscious about it, it’s perfectly normal.
I’m 20 and starting to thinning a little, frankly if you’re in shape those close to skin fades don’t look bad at all. I’m trying to focus on my physical fitness a little more before I start getting them tho.

I’m sure there are people like what you’re talking about, but for the vast majority of men, balding is rough and shaving it is the result of years of anxiety. There are exceptions but clearly Suggs is not one of them.
As a bald guy I can’t think of one balding person I’ve ever encountered who didn’t give af. They all either shaved it, got treatment, or if they still have hair they constantly express to me how stressed they are.

Currently, they all “accept” it in a specific way, it is cookie cutter and boring. People were balding in many different ways back in the day and since fashion is a circle it would return and wonder why were people so conformists back in the day.
Why don’t they do to Turkey for hair transplants. Reddit makes it seeem like it’s an easy answer. I’m guessing. It’s not that easy and most transplants don’t stay ?
I’ve had transplant. It certainly cant be done during the season. It can be done in the offseason but he would lose a couple months of training. Maybe he doesnt want that.
Couple months? Google saying return to light work 3-5 days, so you can shoot by then, assume a couple more weeks and you go all out. Is there more to it than that?
I am not an expert at all, just a patient so I’m just parroting what I was told, which was to avoid physically exerting myself for a couple months.

I think you have to take medications after a transplant and those meds are on the banned list. Thats why you see a lot of athletes get transplants then it looks like shit a year later.

The most positive subreddit I’ve ever seen fr
A lot of people don’t understand just how mentally taxing it can be for people so struggle with their hairlines.
Mine is fine, ive always had a larger than average forehead but the temples have receded a little bit, and I just started to take finasteride. But before that, there would be times where I would be checking my hairline every opportunity I got - in the bathroom, in reflections, on my phone. It’s endless, and honestly totally miserable. You’ll forget about it for a week, and then the next it’s all you can think about.
Having a community that is as welcoming as that would be a massive help.
I started on Fin + Minox about a year ago because I could see the writing on the wall for me and wanted to catch it before it got too late. It’s working pretty well for me so far, hope it’s the same for you mate.
I’m just happy for it to stay the same as it is. It gives me peace of mind and the assurance that it won’t get any worse. As long as that’s the case, I’m all good. Glad it’s working for you!
Did you consult anyone before you did? I was getting ready to start but then I saw the side affects can include your hair falling out at first and got cold feet.
I did not. There are a plethora of studies out there which state the efficacy and safety of it. All drugs will have side effects, but it’s just about weighing the reward vs the (potential) risk. If you’re concerned, please speak to a doctor. Dont take my word for gospel.
The hair ‘falling out’ is actually totally normal, and isn’t considered a side effect. It’s called shedding, and it actually shows the finasteride is working - finasteride blocks DHT production, which allows hair to enter a growth phase, pushing out the old hair for new ones. Naturally, people get a bit concerned by this, but your hair will just grow back stronger after it happens.
At the end of the day, if you’re worried about losing your hair, I’d say it’s definitely worth it. If you’re worried about the shedding, it’s normal, it doesn’t really affect your entire head, and is barely noticeable.
Remember, YOU will be the only one thinking and worrying about it. No one else has the time in a day to look at someone else’s hair and think anything of it.
