The game was February 23rd 2012. Lin had 8 points & 8 turnovers on 1-11 shooting. The “Heatles” had a monster defense that people don’t give enough credit.

Jeremy had a lot of talent and could have been better than he was. You could tell the pressure and the shit talk got to him. I remember watching Rockets games, at the next dead ball after he committed a turnover he’d look back to see if he was getting subbed out. It’s actually amazing that he was as solid as he was after his Knick run, he was always playing scared.

He has good games after that. They ended Linsanity but he was still a decent player after that.

I played basketball, football, and tennis in high school. Ppl underestimate the nerves to play basketball. Unlike football where there’s 21 other people on the field, and everyone is “hidden” by their helmets, or tennis where the crowd is silent and not a lot of spectators (in high school).

Being on the court feels like being on a stage. Less people on the court, no where to hide, bright lights, and the crowd is so close to court you can hear them talking shit. I was ALWAYS so nervous during basketball games to the point where I was playing no where near my full capabilities. The moves or shots youd take in practice or in pickup, you dont have the balls to attempt in a real game.

I respect the honesty

Miami was the first team to say enough was enough and dedicate everything to stop him. Other teams either couldn’t or didn’t take Lin seriously enough even though he was proving he was legit already. This was DPOY-level LeBron and unwashed Wade and just overall a defense that became completely suffocating when they turned it up.

It’s a myth that Lin’s bad game against the Heat “ended” Linsanity. The very next game he put up 19-13-5 in leading the Knicks to a blowout win over the Cavs, and he continued to post solid-to-excellent numbers in most of his remaining games before sustaining a season-ending injury, including a 20-13-1 game with 4 steals, 20-4-3 with 3 steals, 19-7-6, and 18-10-3.

If anything, what contributed to Lin cooling off more so than the one Heat game was the return of Carmelo Anthony from injury. During the peak of Linsanity the Knicks played 8 consecutive games mostly without Melo (he played 5 minutes in one of those games before getting hurt) and went 7-1. When Melo returned (in the Feb 20 Nets game), the Knicks then went 1-9. Melo’s play style and ego both didn’t mesh well with what Lin had been cooking with the Knicks during his absence.

Lin also played through the injury for about a week before closing it down for the season, which likely contributed to a few poor outings at the tail end of his Knicks tenure.

Lin noticed the injury about a week ago, but he told reporters it had not gotten better by Saturday.

“I can’t really do much, can’t really cut or jump, so it’s pretty clear I can’t help the team unless I get it fixed right now,” said Lin.

Lin posted career highs in FTr, AST%, and USG% running D’Antoni’s offense, which is notorious for supercharging point guards (see Nash’s MVPs on the Suns, and the fact that Chris Duhon, who averaged 4.4 assists per game for his career, once posted a game of 22 assists with D’Antoni). He never had a team give him another chance like that until his brief and injury-riddled tenure with the Nets. We might remember his career very differently had the Knicks held on to him (and had there not been a conflict with Melo’s ego).

Lights were too bright

Lin was still a very good player for years afterwards. I don’t see this game as a big deal. New York still went to the playoffs that season, unfortunately he got hurt late in the season.

I think he was part of the last team to make the playoffs with Charlotte.
