Darius Garland has been out since Jan. 14 with a recurring toe issue — and during that time he got traded to the Clippers for James Harden.

Garland is set to make his Clippers debut on Monday against the Warriors, reports NBA insider Chris Haynes.

Garland has been battling toe issues that date back to last playoffs, and he has played in just 26 games this season for the Cavaliers. I am glad Garland is here so that Kris Dunn isn’t starting at point guard anymore, but I don’t think the Clippers are in any danger of slipping into the lottery even if Kawhi even plays just 50% of the remaining games.

He’s not ass but undersized guards are at a very low point rn, it’s why trae got traded for peanuts. Offenses have been a lot more physical this year and like KD said the small guys get hunted. The main thing is if his scoring and playmaking can outweigh those downsides, and the clippers really need a playmaker

Props to Cleveland - and I’m not gonna act like the Clippers were a lock to make the Finals or anything - but, I don’t believe I’ll ever understand what LA was thinking in that trade.

Harden wanted ²⁄₈₀ to stay. Clippers didn’t want to offer that and commit to the salary for the next two years.

So, the only natural solution is to trade for Garland and his ²⁄₈₆?

That’s even more salary than what Harden wanted.

Forget historically. Harden is easily better right now. If we’re projected five years down the road, could Garland overtake James? Possibly….

….Except for the whole lingering foot issue. Those always seem to get better as players reach the 10-year mark in their career.

If Garland can overcome the lingering issue injury, then the Clippers will have the honor of giving him a monster contract extension into his 13th-15th season.
