He’s averaging 20, 9, 6, 1, 1. I feel he’s kind of like a poor man’s Jokic. Which is still very good. You don’t have to be a lob threat or a 3 pt shooter to be an all star. He’s a very skilled player like Jokic.

He hasn’t made any improvements to his game for a few years. Defenses have figured him out for the most part. He needs to get back in the lab and start refining his game some more

My bigger concern with sengun is he looked like he added a 3 point shot and then completely regressed to his self from last year. I expected a bigger jump in improvement from him. I’ve never been a fan of big guys with short arms. Not to say every single one is inherently a bad player. But he’s got limitations.

Don’t like that he has become their foundational building piece. Every HOU game i watch it becomes a lot of Sengun handing the ball along with KD. Feels very inorganic, no strong chemistry. Just pass eachother the ball and watch them go to work.

I think he is injured + he really needs a point guard to make some looks easier for him

Presti knew that, for your center to be an offensive hub you really need a unicorn like Jokic.

The primary role of a center is being the defensive linchpin of the team. The rest his energy should be on running the floor, screening and finishing dunks. The occasional 3 being a bonus.

A 7ft dude using his energy on offence is likely going to leak points on the defensive side, either directly or indirectly.

Strong agree. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a good player, but he is not a franchise guy. I’m not sure he can even be a second option on a team.. I’m thinking more like a third option.

It was really annoying as a Nuggets fan to hear everyone say he was the ‘next Jokic’. Because it was clear to me, very early, that he has nowhere even close to the touch that Jok has. And touch/feel is not something you can learn. You have it or you don’t. I feel like a lot of times Sengun is just chucking stuff up. And while he is a above average passer for his position, again he’s not even in the stratosphere of Jok here.

I know your point wasn’t comparing him to Jokic, but I mention it because I think it may have led to over inflated expectations of what he really is or can become. Again, don’t get me wrong - the dude is a great player but he’s not All-NBA material by any means.

Well, the obvious answer is that he’s not really an All-Star caliber player. He did horribly in the Player and Media voting, it was just that Texas is a big market and he pulled in a large fan vote becuase of it.

His scoring efficiency especially is fairly hard to justify. If you’re getting as many touches as he does you need to be scoring the rock more.
