[Highlight] Moussa Diabaté with the buzzer-beater fadeaway to end the 1st quarter (with a replay)
are the hornets fucking contenders in the east out of nowhere??
Our starters all playing together are 17-3
For more context:
13 of the wins by double digits, 8 by 20+.
Notable wins over: @orlando 2x (by 15 and 27), @OKC (by 27), @Jazz (by 55), @Lakers (by 18), @nuggets (without Jokic but by 23), vs.Philly (by 47), vs.SAS (by 5), @houston (by 10).
They are fucking frying people
Aren’t they 18-2? iirc they only had one loss before the Pistons broke our streak, and ever since Moose and Bridges came back from suspension we haven’t lost since
The Hornets are legit really good…
Regardless of how they finish this year, this team is gonna make some real noise next year…. especially if they add a couple pieces.
They are young. They are incredibly talented offensively. They’ve obviously bought into their coaches, defensive tenacity. Their bench is deep. The locker room has the good vibes.
This shit kind of came out of nowhere
What kinda pieces should they be looking to add? I was thinking an upgrade at the 4 but curious to hear what others think
Ideally would be defensive 4 that can put pressure on the rim. Prob won’t happen but caleb wilson would be perfect
Losing the play-in and getting Wilson/Boozer would be a really funny situation, but just a better version of Bridges. I think of the starting 5 he grades pretty rough defensively, and his use is mostly just rim-running and extra shooting atp. Hornets also are developing Salaun and he’d be the textbook fit in that role and he should get some run pending a Bridges trade and what not but we’ll see I guess. Having Lamelo-Kon-Miller just means you only really need rim-runners + defense at 4⁄5 to make their life easier since those 3 can be an offensive juggernaut. Coby White fills up the secondary engine role they needed, and a healthy Green/Grant are good pieces for a contender as off the bench 3 and D forwards.
I think they could use a scoring 5 … and maybe some vet leadership for playoff runs
WCF-bound definitely
No? But they’re on the upswing.
Edit: Gonna come back here when the playoffs happen, lol. Not being a contender yet is fine, chill reddit.
I really like Charlotte but they’re currently 1-7 vs. NYK/DET/CLE (have yet to play Boston this season), definitely still at least a year away. I think 50+ wins next year seems likely (barring injuries)
I know we played you guys once recently, but how many of those games were before January? Because this team really didn’t start this run until then.
And 2 of the losses they are counting I think are from when Miles and Moussa were suspended
Hornets fan: Upvoted because I don’t think your speculation is necessarily wrong. It’s okay to be a year away and plenty of teams need to undergo the fire of the playoffs before success comes.
We did stomp the Thunder on the road, beat the Spurs at home, and kept that Piston game close despite the craziness.
We’ve handled all of the middle teams (Rockets, 6ers, Magic, Lakers, Nugs without Jokic, whatever). This upcoming schedule will be interesting. @Celtics, @Spurs, Knicks, Celtics, Twolves, @Celtics, Pistons, @Knicks all left in play.
I know he isn’t setting the world on fire, but can’t believe the clippers gave up on Moose after 1 season? Kinda wild
