[Highlight] Steph Curry hits this iconic three pointer against the Thunder 10 years ago (Feb 27, 2016).
Greatest regular season game of all time
I’d like to object but I can’t think of a better one
Cavs wizards 2017. Cavs warriors 2016 Christmas
I was trying to be a Wizards fan in 2017. Never forget.
We gonna be facing each other this Christmas and it’s gonna be sick? Hell yea
Magical era. I watched so many games live. Now I only catch the highlights here and there.
Westbrook game winner 3 last game of the season against Denver. 50 pt trip dub and secured the triple double avg for the season, breaking Oscar’s record for most in a season
I…disagree
When i get sad sometimes ill watch that games highlights.
Giddey and the baby thunder dropping 153 on the celtics in regulation was pretty fun. No bias of course.
Best season of all time
It was all downhill from there.
Actually for the rest of society too.
Poor Harambe
Sigh…
Of course a Cavs fan would think this.
I have been telling people this for years. They forget the context of this game. Prime KD Russ era, one of the last games of the season to break the 72-10 nba record, steph tying the record for threes in a game, breaking the nba record for 3s in a season by 100+, dude was so good he was in the conversation for most improved player the season after winning MVP.
Making 400s before anyone ever made 300 in a season is Babe Ruth level wildness.
Unfortunately for them, GSW’s curse of the bambino era has begun while he still plays for them 😓
That game was so good, had it on at a family party and we all got invested despite being Detroit fans lol
Feels like everyone was watching the end of this game too. Reminds me of Linsanity on valentines day.
This was the night of Steph’s peak black magic fuckery. This moved them to like 54-5 and ppl were honestly wondering if he was going to be the best offensive player ever
mike breen said the same
Shit was so lit we forgot we was locked up for a hour lol (MDC 2016)
I was going to say this
Second would be his MSG game
Greatest sleeved jersey game of all time too.
3⁄5 players hadn’t even crossed mid court when curry just decided to shoot it. I’m gonna miss this dude when he retires
We won’t appreciate his greatness until after he retires. Shane Warne syndrome.
???
Bro is regarded as the goat shooter by a country mile who changed the game
he’s saying that even with that, he’s still underrated. it’s probably true
Steph is top 5 all time
i’m not sure how to explain this to someone who’s only concept of greatness is “top xx of all time”
steph has a way of play that we are all still amazed by when he does certain things, even after 15 years. but despite that, we still nod and go “well that’s steph” because we expect to be amazed by him. we all accept him as a top all timer, that’s fine
but what’s different is that when he’s gone, there’ll be no one doing everything he does like he does. yeah there’ll be guys shooting 3s at 40%. yeah there’ll be guys shooting 3s while falling out of bounds, or over 3 defenders, or while coming off a screen with barely an inch of space. yeah some of them will be tiny undersized guards.
but none of them will be all those things, none of them will do it all the way he does it, and every time you see one of them doing something you’ll think “steph would have done that, but he would have done this too” and THAT’s the part where you’ll realise you didn’t appreciate just what he was doing. because for 15 years it’s been normal.
There is an era of the NBA before Steph and after Steph, don’t know how many players have changed the league to this degree
defo not but he is easily top 10 player and the underrate comes from people who dismiss him as top 10 player or put other players who aren’t even to close to him at above
I said what I said. You probably dont know who Shane Warne was but the same was true of him too: Renowned as the best ever at what he did while he played but people really only understood his greatness after he stopped and nobody else could do what he did.
There are people out there that still try to push KD being better than him
And Dame Lillard being equal to him with worse teams
hello fellow random cricket fan in the NBA sub.
As a 90s kid growing up in India I didn’t understand the fuss about Warne until I saw how he terrorized England and South Africa. Dude was an artist.
He was rarely at his best in India. Seems like the tracks favour offspin more.
A fellow cricket fan!
This is and was true for many, Curry is not one of those. The only unanimous MVP, greatest shooter of all time, 2nd greatest point guard of all time (some would even say the greatest), and known as someone who revolutionized basketball. I have no clue who Shane Warne is but Curry is not in the same scenario. Curry has already gotten his flowers, multiple times.
Good thing you guys got Kon so he can hopefully fill the void
I feel like Kon is a by the books player. Where he will mainly just take efficient/good look shots. You’re not going to see him heat check at half-court
Not yet
I was in a casino while this game went down. Whole place went crazy after this.
Kon feels like a coaches wet dream, dude doesn’t look like a rookie at all
He’s incredibly efficient but hasn’t shown half court range yet.
I’m gonna miss seeing three dudes peeling off the ball to guard him on a fast break
I mean there was only 6/10ths of a second remaining
my favorite part is enes kanter being mad before the ball even goes in the hoop because he knows its good
Enes Kanter has Jeff Teague resume on big shots
Funny thing was heading into the game a bunch of oldheads were saying all sorts of shit about him, I think Oscar in particular was vocal. During the game whenever Steph did something Mark and JVG would reference that, at one point Steph hit a shot over Adams and Mark Jackson was like “Just say sorry Oscar” or something lol. Anyway, ridiculous way to cap off a ridiculous game.
This whole bit was hilarious. Low key miss Jeff and Mark
Counterpoint: No
one of those shots that you remember exactly where you were when you saw it
Yup. Right there, in front of my TV.
Though I definitely remember Dame’s series winner over Houston. I was in the Phillipines and we had the game on in our hotel. Epic.
I just texted my mate with whom I watched this game, because that was such an iconic moment and legendary night
Saying bye to a friend who had the game on, we were just making small talk watching the game and 30 seconds later this happened. it made the rest of my night better
I was in my father in law’s kitchen, drinking crown and watching the game.
Bar
This is one of those games where I’ll always remember where I was. I was at a bar in DC and the game was on in the background. When Curry went nuts, literally the whole bar just stopped what they were doing to watch it and when he hit this shot, everyone screamed. None of us were even GS or Curry fans at the time.
People who didnt watch 15-16 Curry as it happened will never understand how electrifying it was. It almost felt like every single night was Globetrotter shit. Shake-and-bake off-the-dribble half court three pointers., acrobatic circus shot layups, AND1 streetball passes, razzle dazzle every goddamn game.
I won’t say it’s the highest scoring offensive season of all time or the most efficient offensive season of all time but I do think it’s the flashiest offensive season of all time.
You had to be there it was must watch TV. We’re desensitized to it now too but this shot was unthinkable to anyone not named curry.
i’ve met multiple people who have Mandela effect and think this was in the wcf
i think it’s because it’s such a well known shot, everyone remembers it, so you assume it had to be playoffs.
i always thought the sequence was a lot longer, but it’s actually just 2-3 steps over half court lol
It’s funny because I have the same feeling even though I know it wasn’t, but that because I include the inbound as part of it.
They probably didn’t watch back then
Same, probably because they’d otherwise realise he doesn’t have any game winners in the playoffs
Right the 40 piece in game 4 of the finals wasn’t worth shit because he scored early in the fourth quarter than wait until the last moment
It’s funny seeing the criteria for “clutch” change depending on the agenda being pushed. Sometimes it’s “shot to win or tie the game”, sometimes it’s “ shot within the last minute”, sometimes it’s “within the last 5 seconds”
I remember there was one that has Lebron on 1⁄10 on clutch shots
He’s got a lot of late clutch shots though. Especially that one to tie it in Game 5 vs. you guys
one of the most influential plays in sports history
Complete paradigm shift, I swear there’s a before and after where the NBA was never the same after this.
Lawdy Jesus
You know your team is cooked when the highest engagement stuff team socials post is “hey remember when…”
“Hey remember the moment when our franchise went into straight up dynasty mode?” is a post 80% of franchises will never get to make. Have some perspective lol
Oh no doubt it’s also one of the greatest regular season games of all time. It’s just also a sign of where the franchise is at right now.
I see what you’re saying but you’re still reaching for no reason. The 10 year anniversary of this game would be remembered regardless
10 year anniversary of maybe the most memorable shot in franchise history. It’s not a random nostalgia play
Idk I think the dubs social media team would still post this even if we were at the top of the league. It’s the 10 year anniversary of one of the most iconic shots of all time.
me am the big sad
you dont even know sad
“Ah you think sadness is your ally? You merely adopted the sad. I was born in it, molded by it.” - Kings fans, probably
Pacers fans experienced 50 years of Kings-caliber sad in one game
Hoosiers won the national championship though, so maybe it was worth it
weren’t you the other team that got dogwalked for the game winner by Lillard in the playoffs?
Nah that was Houston
oh, right I’m pretty sure this is the one I’m thinking of (2015 Lebron) I checked the BBref page, and Dame DID actually have a game winner over the Bulls in 2021 (also joe johnson has 8 game winners wtf)
I was blessed enough to play in the garden on the Boston Celtics court. People really do not underhand how far an nba three is, let alone where Curry shoots from. Tv does zero justice.
Skyfucker
That was the inflection point
Whew whew whew still getting me hard every time i see it
The “double bang” from Mike green really adds to the iconic ststus of this shot by curry
This game made everybody decide we gotta jack up more 3s.
That was 10 years ago already
I really do not like these posts reminding me of time
The sequence that sent this game to OT was insane as well. Iggy had some ice in his veins.
I WANT IGUODALA
Iguodala was legitimately one of the most clutch shooters I’ve ever seen for absolutely no reason. Dude was horrific from the line, and just barely serviceable from three, but he always hit them when it mattered.
This is my top3 sports games ever to watch highlights for when I’m in a bad mood and want a pick me up. I even show it to my friends who don’t even watch basketball and it’s still insanely hype AF
Delete this for me please?
Nah, let us reminisce. Your team will be dominating for years to come.
Not if the Spurs can help it
One window closes another one opens.
How is this 10 years ago? 🫠
We old bro
This was the best year of basketball imo (and I’m a raptors fan) 2019 comes very close.
Agreed. Every game (not just Dubs) felt like a must-watch.
Top 2 Bang of all time and it isn’t second.
The NBA peaked in 2016
No other player has ever been that kind of threat from anywhere inside (and beyond) half court. I couldn’t believe he wasn’t being face guarded in the backcourt.
And the shimmy at the end. 🥹
Will remember this till the day i die
If a guy has 11 threes and the ball in his hand with less than 1 second to go, you should probably guard him, he’s probably going to shoot it. Probably still would have got it off cuz it’s steph, but that was too easy.
I remember watching that live and knew this dude was something else.
I was there in person, it do not feel good at all when that ball in. Pure heartbreak.
Legend
Remember Watching this with my roommates in college, such a legendary moment. Curry’s first 2 mvps was so surreal, everyone in the country was in awe
Highest offensive peak of all time (arguable with peak MJ/Jokic/Bron)
Game Theory
Me and my college roommates hadn’t even watched a game all season. At this point of my life, I was way more into my college’s sports and the Carolina Panthers. Randomly I put on this game as background noise, everyone in the house sat down in front of the tv one by one, and by the end of the night we had all realized how lucky we were to have witnessed the game.
I believe this happened in 2016 but I swear to god I watched this when I was in college sitting in the RA office on duty in like 2011. Obviously the time warp is complete
I was at that game for my birthday. Craziest game ive ever been to
The PTSD is real
Butterfly effect for KD
Curry had me convinced black magic was real. Dude had me saying “how the fuck” so many goddamn times.
This was probably one of the greatest game threads of all time. This and the 2016 All Star Game Dunk Contest were awesome.
back when he was actually likeable and not a 🧃supporter
this game was insane. warriors even had to survive two free throws from iguodala to go to overtime. gg
remember watching this game at an applebees, ruined my mozz sticks fr
Watched this shit live and knew it was green the second I saw him hesitate. Hes called skyfucker for a reason
Rank him wherever you want, but he’s got to be the most exciting player to watch since Michael Jordan.
GOAT regular season game. 10 years ago is nasty work though.
He has the most ridiculous highlight reel from that season. It just felt like he never missed from 3.
Should have been an And-1 or even technical with how his landing space was encroached on
He has been that guy, he fucks the sky
Those shirt-jerseys were awful.
I don’t know why people didn’t complain more back then. I always said they look like fucking pajamas
Players did. LeBron in particular IIRC (I think he used to cut his).
Ironic since his most iconic game came in that jersey
Not these ones. They’re iconic along with the Cavs ones that they won the Finals in. It’s one of those jerseys that you when you see it, you instantly think of this moment
I somehow got twisted over the years and thought this was a playoff game in memory. That’s insane to me lol. Regular season games REALLY used to hit different
Hated those stupid sleeve jerseys
Everyone including myself thought this was just a fluke or a lucky season from curry…little did we know.
Everyone did not think that lol
2016 was really his world.
Until it wasn’t….
🐐🤣💯😆💣🤣💯👑🔥🐐 #JustAKidFromAkron
Dude, LeBron lost 3 Finals to Curry
There is no debate, 1-3 is not good
What is there to debate.
LeBron lost to 3 far superior rosters with multiple MVPs.
We all know what happened the second they had comparable talent even the Warriors players say LeBron is smacking them for years without Durant.
Curry was unanimous MVP
Never happened before.
LeBron got spanked. Then again. Then again.
There is no debate. Curry owns LeBron head to head.
Michael Jordan and LeBron should have been unanimous MVPs before Curry we both know that lmao.
Cavs were just out matched by the greatest team ever assembled.
Your Celtics got spanked by an aging core and inferior roster in 2022. Pretty embarrassing.
Curry 3
LeBron 1
All of these happened in LeBron’s prime.
Essentially a brand new form of basketball was superior and it was all bc of Steph.
I don’t think anyone can say that about LeBron.
