Cade is literally the only guy who can create this year which puts a ton of pressure on him, and the team has even less shooting with Duncan as the only real shooter.

His efficiency is the same as last year, but his assist rate is 10% better and his turnover rate is almost 20% lower than last year, and he has played fantastic team defense.

Cade’s biggest improvement is his assist to turnover ratio. It’s massively better. I think this may be the first or second time it’s been at 2 or higher, and this season is definitely a career high at 2.7. Coach Bickerstaff credits the improvement to Cade not going for the “home run” pass and sticking to simpler reads.

Detroit’s top-10 offense is somewhat of an illusion, as their defense fuels their transition game, but credit still goes to Cade for making the right reads in those situations.

Yes, his efficiency still needs to improve. And if it doesn’t then he play be placing a hard-cap on Detroit’s offensive ceiling. At least not without another high-usage, high efficiency player on the roster.

I think part of Cade’s overall efficiency issue is that he’ll be generally consistent for weeks at a time, then casually drop a ³⁄₁₈ shooting performance and sink the whole thing.

I’m sure this is true for most players, but damn in his five worst shooting games of the season he’s shot ²⁹⁄₁₁₈ (24.5%), and a putrid ⁵⁄₃₈ (13%) from 3. If you removed those games from his season averages he’s shooting 49% from the field and 36.5% from 3, on 59.5% TS.

Again, probably true for everyone that “if remove worst games averages are better”, but damn that’s like a very noticeable difference. I’m curious what his median shooting numbers are but I’m too lazy to do the math on that

Why would I choose a sample size of 13 or 17? Those are pretty strange numbers. Taking stats from a player’s last 10 games is very common.
