Clint Capela on Instagram (regarding DeAndre Ayton): U got 2 of the best floor general in the game my dawg Lockinnn š¤£š¤£
This was his response to the DeAndre Ayton quote of “they’re trying to make me Clint Capela”

Ayton has had CP3 and is currently playing with LeBron and Luka.
It doesn’t get easier than that honestly.
He also had Rubio
But he hasnāt had me yetā¦
You never had me. You never had your car.
Streets closed pizza boy
Monicaaaaaaaaa!!
Still yell this passing people on the freeway
NOOOS
i said forget about it cuh
Talk your shit, king. Luka, CP3, and LBJ aint got nothing on you.
I miss him
Ayton?
IS THERE NO END TO HIS MADNESS?
Alexei, change this face. be happy. enjoy it!
Ironically Ayton has the most chemistry with Austin Reaves in the pick and roll, he gets the ball in his sweet spots waaaay more with him on the floor.
Daniel Li made a video on this, check it out :)
love daniel li’s videos
The only reason he got his max contract bag is because of CP3. CP3 is known to get his centers paid.Ā
Cooked him like that
Hit with the ābe betterā oof
Stop trying to find a way to fit OUT and start trying to FIT-IN šÆšŖ
I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed
Capela: “Look what he has to do to mimic a fraction of my power”Ā
Clint ‘Joey Swoll’ Capela
get good
Capela would be a way better fit
Prime Capela would solve so many problems for yāall. Thank goodness yāall donāt have access to that I hate when good things happen to the Lakers
fair
rockets-era capela would’ve been nasty for this team
Current Capela not so much. Prime Capela, of course.
Actually pulled his punches, dude could’ve been way less polite about it š
Well he is no Clint Capela
Clint “Not HumiliAyton” Capela
clint “clint capela” capela
DeAndre, I watched Clint Capela. I knew Clint Capela. Prime Capela was a fave of mine. DeAndre, youāre no Clint Capela.
hahahah was not expecting this reference, well played
Capela at Ayton’s age used to mog prime Rudy Gobert every year in the playoffs, dude was a top 10 center in the league
defensemaxxed him
If CP3 couldnāt get him to be elite then heās doomed. What a waste of tools
CP3+Bridges+Crowder got him a max contract
Hey Book yelled at him sometimes to get his shit together
Maybe Monty was right
Monty isnāt, never was, nor ever shall beā¦ācorrectā.
ā¦even if I donāt like Ayton. lol
Sucks yāall got quiet quitting Monty. He was a great coach for us tbh
I feel like CP3 deserves credit for that entire thing the more time is removed from that. Monty had no success before or after whereas CP3 always elevated his teams and clearly was a headcase on hands leader.
With Chris Paul: 69.6% win rate (135ā59).
Without Chris Paul: 39.4% win rate (163ā251)
Watching one yr of Monty has me thinking CP3 is the best PG ever
I mean he fucked the pistons bad at the end there but he was a great coach at one point
I mean he was and wasnāt at times if you look at his full track record . Maybe Chris Paul carried him tbh , but he has his team doing well in the bubble so who knows
Yeah that too. But I think he needs elite 2-way wings to be playable.
He needs his WiFi cut off for starters
My contrarian take on Ayton is that he doesn’t actually have mentality issues. He actually just has talent issues.
His body has elite aesthetics, so people picture him as this ideal rim runner and rim protector. But aesthetics don’t tell the whole story. There’s a big difference between being a top 0.1% athlete and a top 0.001% athlete.
That slight difference is the difference between Jalen Duren and Mo Bamba.
And Mo Bamba didn’t do anything wrong either. It’s just hard to be an elite player in the NBA lol.
I actually agree with you and felt the same thing when he was with us. Heās no David Robinson. His athleticism was very underwhelming which makes me question our draft process with him tbh.
On top of that, heās scared to death of giving max effort as well as physical confrontation. All he wants to do is play scripted basketball with zero resistance/conflict
Our draft process was Sarver wanting to pick the prospect from his alma mater.
If the racist owner was just slightly more racist, Suns could’ve got Doncic
Pretty much
Oh no, it’s even worse. We had Luka’s coach. So can’t even claim bad scouting because we had the best scout.
And it gets even worse. Sarver nixed a completed trade that same draft for SGA.
Suns didn’t just let one generational guard handed to them go. They had two.
I think he is pretty athletic, it just doesn’t come out on the court. I hate saying guys are soft, but I think he’s soft. Wanting scripted ball without resistance or conflict is a good way to put it. He’s strong and (was) pretty quick for his size, but what’s the point if he doesn’t like contact? My perception of his game was that, if he wanted to, he could have had a very solid post bully-ball game. But that would have required touching people, so he took jumpers from sixteen feet instead. That’s an easier way to play. Who cares if it’s good?
https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/34126111/how-phoenix-suns-plan-nail-nba-draft-mostly-ignoring-it This article explains the Sarver era draft process. It is worth questioning to say the least
I disagree, Ayton’s athleticism and touch sticks out to me. I see the tools to be a great defender. His motor and lack of awareness/iq is what holds him back on both sides of the field.
I don’t think he has the athleticism.
Like when Mitchell Robinson runs down the floor, it’s just different. Ayton is not that.
Ayton is much more skilled and fluid than Mitchell. However Mitchell has a better motor and is physical.
Ayton has the speed and agility to keep up with guards and size rim protect. You cannot argue he’s not athletic enough. That’s the frustrating part. It’s clearly all effort.
I don’t think Ayton is as fast or explosive as Mitchell Robinson. MitchRob also has better measurables.
Ayton might be better at bench press. But not in functional basketball movements.
Disagree, He shows it at times that he has it. The one lob he got early, couple plays against the Magic. It’s all effort with him. He’s low effort and he’s soft. He rarely moves with any force, it’s not just shying away from contact at time, but he often just doesn’t jump hard, doesn’t run hard, he doesn’t bully in through contact.
I mean a lot of centers do better with elite 2 way wings and an all time playmaker. Its just time to get rid of expectations and pretending he can do better. If he was Queta or smth (whoās playing better than him rn) heād be a non story.
Getting drafted 1st overall got him a max contract. You have to be Risacher levels of bad to not get one as a 1st overall pick at this point
at least he wasn’t anthony bennett levels of bad
Thing is DA was arguably elite during the 21 playoffs and the 22 regular season. He just stopped playing with any semblance of consistency after he got the max
He made it clear all he cared about was the second deal before he signed it, and after he signed it, he kept his word. He’s nothing if not honest.
I was gonna say, they asked him what he wanted to achieve in the NBA as a #1 overall draft pick, his answer was to literally just make it to his second contract.
His last game before the draft was getting blown out by 20 in March Madness by Buffalo in the first round, he’s always not given a fuck lol
Itās an attitude you expect from an undrafted or second round pick type of guy. Not from someone that got drafted over Luka doncic
If Iām good enough at something to get paid generations changing money while putting minimal effort I would be the same too
Bro shouldn’t be saying shit like “they’re trying to make me Clint Capela” while intentionally being a bum then though lol
Damn I said literally the exact same thing 5 months ago in this sub and I was getting hate for it
This sub is extremely driven by whatever the current ppular sentiment is.
That comment had a healthy mix of agreement/disagreement and wasnāt even downvoted, there wasnāt any hive mind going on there
This sub is comprised of thousands of people, in all likelihood this is just different threads/comments attracting different people. Iāve posted more or less the exact same comment in different threads and received completely different responses depending on the tenor of the post/conversation. I would be interested in seeing how many people straight up change their opinion based on the majority perception in a given post, but I honestly doubt itās a whole lot.
Ben Simmons level of heart
He just has no motor. He’s so passive, and looks to be playing at like 60% effort at best most of the time.
He was at his peak playing alongside CP3. As the third option, he didnāt force touches, but they went to him when they needed a bucket. He thrived in pick-and-pop actions, could face up and knock down the mid-range, and had a reliable post hook when matched up inside. Averaging 18 a night within the flow of the offense.
The funny thing is Ayton even acknowledged during preseason that his job this year was to rebound, play defense, and understood that the offense would go through Luka, AR, and LeBron first. If he played like Capela we probably have a much better season.
Ayton always says what fans want to hear in the offseason
I keep saying to myself
he is only making 8 millions, he is at contract year, he doesn’t need to do everything just literally grab rebound, and he isn’t doing that.
like wtf is he doing
All he had to do was fake it fill the role and get another big contract but guess he doesnāt care
Im not going to overstate how well the Lakers would be playing if Ayton played to his purpose… but the team would certainly be more scary
Isnāt the stat that theyāve won every game that Ayton has at least 15⁄10, or something like that. Quite literally, him just playing average is the difference between winning and losing a lot of nights for them, but he canāt even do that on a consistent basis
We saw how he was on the suns. He was great in 2021 and most of 2022, but then got into arguments with an elite vet that was getting him fed in cp3, and a coach that, while he might not be the best coach, tried to be a good person and engage with the players in monty. The team basically gave him all the tools to succeed and be the best version of himself, but he threw it all away because he’s got zero drive.
He quite literally did say his goal in the nba was to get the second bag, which, for a first overall pick, is crazy to say.
If you listen to him he tells you everything you need to know. Heāll litter in his dominayton shtick and say heās reallyyyy gonna lock in starting now but when heās not doing that he tells you what heās actually thinking lol
It’s just a game and they pay him millions to do it. He’s got it figured out.
Sorry, but itās always interesting when the honeymoon fase ends and a fanbase witnesses the true DominAyton experience.
And I’m sure the Lakers wonāt be the last team to live this experience with him lol
Shanghai Sharks, and Taoyuan Leopards are up next.
he ain’t trying to be CLINT CAPELA!!! THAT’S WHAT
Crushed the interview and then completely sold. Anti-work God
I think aside from mentality, he also just doesn’t have the talent to play like Capela. Like he couldn’t do it even if he wanted to.
Just like how Dalton Knecht can’t play like Capela even if he wanted to.
He definitely can if he want to, thatās the frustrating part
I don’t think so honestly.
He body has elite aesthetics so people think he has this David Robinson potential. But aesthetics don’t tell the whole story.
He’s obviously an incredibly athletic person relative to the general population. But I think he’s just below the threshold of being an elite athletic rim running center in the NBA.
It’s bizarre. Aside from attitude and motor, it’s like his athleticism is is weirdly selective. Idk, he”s obviously huge and he can leap, but he just doesn’t seem to ever be able to finish strong in traffic. I am not quite sure what it is.
There were clear red flags in his year at UofA but I thought he’d figure it out and be an all-star. I was wrong.
It’s a mentality issue. He has tools, but I don’t think anyone ever got through to him on how good his tools actually are.
While not a perfect analogy, it’s like a computer with an RTX 5080 only running MS Word and Minesweeper.
In many cases athletes are specialized in their ability and the limits of that ability are often more blatant than just “Oh he is lazy or can’t shoot” because it’s different with every person.
No he canāt. Capela has tremendous instincts for offensive rebounds and screening that opens up the rest of his teams offense that Ayton never will
Rebound and screening is 90% effort, the rest is timing and chemistry.
And y’all bought into that?
He got cut from the blazers. All they wanted him to do was be good on a shit team to gain trade value. He doesnāt have it in him.
Dude isn’t an idiot, he’s just a lazy bum. Saying is a lot easier than doing
That is such a huge disrespect to Capela. Prime Capela’s way better than you dude lol. If Luka and Bron have someone like prime Capela on their team, they’ll be fighting for top spot in West this season (they would at least won half of those losses they have right now) lol.
This is whatās blowing me away is that Capela was a great center in his prime. If heās mad at being compared to Capela, who exactly does he think his good comp is?
Deadass. Capela did all the dirty work, rebounded like crazy and rim ran hard
He was the opposite of Ayton. A better defender while shorter he has a good wingspan
He had a 20 rebound 10 block triple double. Ayton could only dream
He had a 20 rebound 10 block triple double.
Capela was a swiss beast, jesus.
I think what hes saying is Clint never created his own shot and only got lobs and assists. Ayton wants to be the focal point of the offense and run post ups and whatever else he has in his bag but the Lakers know theyāll lose more if they let him do that. He probably needs to go the Wizards for a minute to live out his dreams
Heās not even good enough to warrant being a tank commander lmfao. The blazers tried that and gave it up real quick cause the dude canāt create shit for himself even if you give him the green light to.
Clint played his role perfectly in his career and had a perfect chemistry with every guard heās played with.
Ayton has no brain and believes heās Jokic
yall talking about capela prime, he only 31, i know ayton is 27 but man is not like capela is dead lol
Capela signed up to be a 3rd C on a team that could go 5 wings and still have good size.
Like, all respect but he knew where he is.
Yeah but Capela has had major injuries throughout his career which have sapped his prime. Maybe thatās why Ayton plays so soft, heās afraid of getting injured like Capela did.
Michael Jordan
2021 Hawks ECF run Capela was a fucking monster
Can confirm. Those āis Trae shooting a floater or passing to Clint/Collins for a dunk??ā were terrifying.
I saw a tweet that said āCapela at 26 led the league in rebounds and finished 6th in DPOY voting, Ayton at 26 was bought out by the Portland Trailblazersā and that shit hit like a ton of bricks.
Iām here for all the hayton
Poor DA wonāt know how to block him
Actually got a lot laugh out of me lmao
You legitimately got a loud “DAYUUUUUUMMMMM” out of me.Ā
This piece of garbage Ayton was -24 in a 3 point loss. Just fucking embarassing. Get this guy out of the league he clearly doesnāt give a shit
he shouldāve been feasting. suns practically played without a center the whole game. mark williams was in early foul trouble and sat most of the game.
Oso is really, really good
So funny seeing people excited about this guy in the offseason š
I was optimistic becuase I thought bare minimum itās a 7 foot body out there to get like 10⁄10 a night. I didnāt think he would feel like he actively drains the soul out of the team every second heās out there
Capela had 4 blocks in 17 minutes today. Yesterday he was +19 in 12 minutes of play. Anton should dream of this kind of impact and this is not prime capela
He’s the anti-Capela
Clint Crapela
Cooked his ass lmaooo
Bro wasted no time lmao right after the game šššš
If Ayton played like capela did today lakers probably win lmao. Should have gave Ayton an extra big jug of special crunk juice.
Mmmm, this is a good night
Talk your shit Capela
Ayton doing anything but dominAYTON
Lakers fans were really saying Ayton will work because Luka is that good like Ayton didn’t have CP3 and still didn’t work and Ayton hated CP3 and Booker and even KD when he wasn’t even there for that long lol
Can’t use “he made the Finals” as the cover-all excuse for Luka’s career and then turn around and say Ayton “didn’t work”. He had a monster WCF in 2021 and was part of a Finals team that came closer to winning than the 2024 Mavs. At the same time, it always seemed like Phoenix didn’t rate him internally. It didn’t seem like they wanted to keep him. Indiana’s interest forced their hand.
The reason why Ayton is a uniquely frustrating player is exactly because we know it can work, but he has zero commitment to improving and zero dawg in him. At an age when he should be hitting his peak, he’s regressing because of his attitude.
āExcuseā for Lukaās career?
Iām sorry?
Are you talking about the guy whoās been in the league for 7 years and has more All-NBA First Team selectons than Steph Curry?
That guyās career?
True
Some constructive cookin right there.
Lmaoo
He right. Fuck Ayton
All my homies hate Ayton
I miss the Trae x Clint connection so much
Only of the only centers in the league Harden COULDN’T get paid is Ayton
Pelinka paid Clint to post this
To fuck around is to be human, to find out is divine.
Clint is the man. He got so much undeserved hate from our fans just because he has like 2cm of range but he was very solid overall.
i bet lakers fans wake up every day wishing ayton were clint capela
This is the mentality DA needs.
My GOAT
Capela was being way to nice for the slander he got from Ayton.
Makes his response that much better. Ayton is getting rightfully roasted from all sides lol
It’s pretty crazy how even people in the NBA act like the only variable with Ayton’s output is his effort, and he’d somehow be a 25ppg+ player on 4th option touches “if only he tried”.
No one cares about his offensive output. It’s the rebounding, defense, and screening. The dirty work that requires more effort.
Damn son, lakers probably have to throw in a pick if that were a trade
Deserved. Capela was for sure the more impactful player in his prime and way less frustrating because at least you understood what he was as a player. With Ayton he can sometimes take over in a way Capela couldn’t, but the inconsistent effort/physicality is maddening and way too much of a headache.
nd the crazy part is heās not lying when heās saying this LMFAO
Outcapelad
Lmao he a rn for that
Stupid fucking message on a bottle didn’t do shit for this sorry ass center.
good if itās true what DA said that shit was widely disrespectful
If Ayton played like Clint Capela he’d be a prime player
That’s a compliment. I’d say capella is better than ayton.
Prime Capela > current Ayton
Prime Capela would eat his lunch
Mark your calendars guys. March 17 and March 19 both at Houston. Dominayton vs Capela.
we fuckin love clint capela, this mf wishes he was clint fuckin capela bro
Please Bron, donāt trade Ayton šæ
Cooked
2 points in 24 minutes?!?!???!!!
Ayton got luka and bron on his team and is just ass tbh lol no player could make him look good
Oh I am all for this š
Ayton overrated confirm
Capela W š
What does he want to do? Push the ball up the court? Lmao
capela took that meatball to the moon
I honestly donāt think Luka and even LeBron at this point enjoy playing with Ayton. There were games where they kept force-feeding him and he just kept bricking.
Ā Talked shit about Capela for absolutely no reason only to back it up with 2/4/0 vs his old team š
Didn’t Durant teach him to use a burner
prime clint would be averaging 20⁄12 on that team while also bringing it on defense
Hopefully this will be the wake up call Dominayton needs to stop being a half assed big man
31 year old bench warmer Clint Capela is better than current Ayton lmfao what a fucking embarrassment to the game of basketball
ayton for swapping FRP lakers bros
ayton suffered from tingus pingus conundrum, engagement correlate with how much of his touching or scoring
He is talking about Luka and Reaves right?
Wait I thought links to twitter and instagram were banned from this sub now? What happened
Cook that bum
Honestly they could use 15-20 min of CP3. Under the stipulation Chris downs get to talk at all.
Ironically I think the lakers would trade him for Clint Capela if they had the chance
What does lockinnn mean?
Lock in
Ah got it. Thanks man
No problem
Or as Jimmy Butler would say, āstupid locked inā
Ayton legit only had 2 points. Im gonna feel bad for whoever signs this guy next season lmao
Love it
A solid 4-6-3 in a win today
Donāt worry, JJ and Luka will fix him
Shit on
