Eh this is who he’s always been. He can put together stretches of serviceable or even really good play (he was legitimately awesome in the finals), then it always seems to fade out. Some of it is passivity, some of it is that passivity/unwillingness to play like Clint Capela makes it really hard for him to produce since he doesn’t really create his own offense, but isn’t consistently a play finisher either.

You get Luka, one of the greatest offensive weapons in sports, there’s 3 pretty fundamental things you need to give Luka to make your roster work and maximize him:

A serviceable center
Guys who can play basic defense
1 or 2 dudes who can stand in the corner and hit 3s

If you can do this, your team will be good. Lakers managed to get no shooters, ZERO defenders, and two centers who are completely nonexistent without luka spoonfeeding them. The fact that Ayton looks THIS BAD with LUKA FUCKING DONCIC AS HIS PG is just astounding. That dude is straight up ass.

The reason they were in the game was because of Luka but there is no situation in any game where he should be in on defense in the final possession of a tie game when he has been blown by 10+ times in the game already.
